INTERIOR
Cosseted, protected and covered help explain how this interior is faultless.  Finished in half leather Silver Cloth, (Code 0380), the M3 sport seats offer superb body support at all times.  The leather has been fed regularly.  Arched around the driver, the accurate clear instruments, switches and levers are in just the right place and fully operational.  No marks anywhere with perfect door cards, anthracite headlining and carpeting which has been protected by genuine BMW carpet mats from new.  The electric windows and sunroof operate smoothly and digital readouts are unbroken.  The BMW glove box torch does not work. M3 ergonomics, crafted items and attention to detail create an ambience of a high performance sports car.

A clean, functional and period Vauxhall interior is sure to delight fans of the Griffin badged cars!  The original Donegal Tweed trim in Grey-Black colour scheme is spotlessly clean and in excellent order.  The matching colour scheme door cards and headlining are pristine, and the carpets are beautifully preserved having been protected from new by tailored Vauxhall floor mats.  All functions and controls operate and the dashboard and associated switchgear are perfect.  Prominent natural veins to the steering wheel and gear knob are an obvious trait of such a low mileage example.  The immaculate boot floor has the factory insulating panels and the original polystyrene moulding holds the jack and wheel brace.  A very comfortable Vauxhall interior reminiscent of a simpler motoring era.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
This Cavalier L features the 1600S OHC four cylinder engine with Varajet II carburettor and automatic choke developing 90bhp at 5800rpm and 93lb/ft of torque at 3800rpm.  This well maintained and unmolested example having covered just 25,619 miles drives perfectly and the quiet yet lively engine is a delight.  The engine bay is clean, unaltered and displays factory plates and stickers as well as quality Bosch service items.  The four speed all syncromesh gearbox feels light, precise and tight.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Five factory original 5J wheels are in amazing preserved condition and remain fitted with the near irreplaceable correct L specification hubcaps.  Incredibly, even the original Michelin XZX 165 SR13 tyres remain fitted to all five wheels, and whilst showing plenty of tread renewal due to age would be a wise safety precaution.  Diagonally split dual circuit brakes with servo assistance feature 9.3in front discs and 7.9in rear drums to bring the car to a steady and assured halt.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new by Vauxhall Main Dealers Gold Star Garage of Cannock on the 4th August 1983, this exceptional example has covered just 25,619 miles with four traceable owners.  First keeper, Mr Frederick Edwards, owned the car until 1998 at which point only 1,800 miles had been covered!  Mr Edwards’ son Warren Edwards took ownership and put the car into semi-regular use before selling it to Mr Powell in 2009.  Letters from Mr Edwards regaling the story of his father’s car are in the history file.  The previous keeper Mr Keith Richardson, an avid classic Vauxhall enthusiast and member of the Cavalier and Chevette Club has owned the car since September 2012.  Throughout this time the car has won various club awards including Best Mk2 in Show and winner at Billing 2013.  The car even featured in the BBC show, James May’s Cars of the People, with film shoot photographs in the history file.

The neat chronological history folder is simply colossal and includes the original purchase invoice made out to Mr Edwards for the sum of £5,400.  A huge collection of receipts, invoices and MOT certificates date back throughout the cars lifetime to fully verify the mileage and evidence devoted upkeep.  There have been three documented cambelt changes.  The original Vauxhall plastic A5 wallet contains all book packs, guides and dealership literature and a new car sales brochure is included.  This beautifully preserved and unmolested Cavalier is a credit to its former keepers and offers capable, practical and comfortable retro motoring, a guaranteed hit at shows.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The factory fitted and unrestored 15 X 7 RS Sierra Cosworth ‘Lattice Style’ alloy wheels are remarkable with only minimal markings and one scratch to the offside front rim edge.  The part numbers and raised stampings are prominent and show clear definition, a feature lost upon the usual refurbished items.  Quality Dunlop SP Sport 205/50 R15 tyres with excellent tread are fitted all round, and the spare wheel is shod in the original unused Dunlop SP Sport D40 fitment.  Diagonally split hydraulic brakes featuring anti-lock assistance and Teves four piston front callipers offer excellent stopping power to match the performance.
