Kawasaki KX80-A1

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A desirable first edition 1979 Kawasaki KX80-A1 motocross bike.

MODEL HISTORY
Bursting on the motocross scene in 1979 the KX80 was aimed as an entry level machine, slightly bigger than its competitors, it featured a torquey two stroke engine, five speed transmission and a tough motocross ready suspension.  Quick to catch on with the sports young racers, ‘Team Green’ soon started notching up wins in the BSMA’s national championships and went on to became part of Kawasaki’s most successful grass roots amateur motocross program in the sport’s history.  The KX80 was one of Kawasaki’s longest running model lines and was produced over two decades with several variants and models until it was superseded by the KX85 in 2000.

EQUIPMENT
Leading axle front fork, trick tubular swing arm, laydown gas-oil shocks, front and side competition number mountings, plastic side covers, durable plastic mud guards, 1-gallon fuel tank, Mikuni Kogyo carburettor, reed valve induction, high level exhaust, CDI ignition, engine cut-out switch, fuel valve, side stand.

EXTERIOR
Finished in Kawasaki Lime Green, the appearance of this thoroughbred racer is superb.  This KX80-A1, was the very first edition of the model and built prior to the revised 1980 KX80 A2/B2, which although very similar in appearance, the 1979 bike retains the earlier Kawasaki tank decals and competition number mountings that were eventually deemed too small for FIM compliance.  The black full cradle frame with the almost unbreakable plastic mudguards are in excellent condition along with the correct Kawasaki decaIs on the side covers.  The KX marked seat and unworn grips are in remarkable condition and completes the package for this excellent, unmolested bike.  Delightful 1970’s Junior Motocross nostalgia!

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The robust air-cooled 2-stroke engine has an 82cc displacement along with its proven reed-valve induction and electronic CD Ignition (CDI) to ensure maximum reliability and power.  The exclusive Kawasaki Electrofusion coating process to the lightweight cylinder head allows the dissipation of heat whilst retaining lubrication coupled with big oval-venturi Mikuni carburettor makes this 15hp @11000 rpm machine perform to its best.  It has a 5-speed gearbox with wet plate clutch and this bike starts and runs but has been on display, therefore recommissioning is recommended before use.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The factory alloy rims incorporating the weight saving conical hubs are in great condition and are wrapped in new Black Rock 90/100-14 rear and 70/100-17 front tyres for maximum grip and dirt churning ability!  Front and rear drum brakes combine to provide confident and controlled braking for the track.

HISTORY FILE
Having earnt its long-due respect in the world of competition Motocross, the KX Series is instantly recognisable and the vibrant Lime Green bikes have become a familiar sight in grass-roots Motocross.  This 1979 KX80-A1 example, frame number A-008703 and the very first edition, remains standard as Kawasaki intended.  Having avoided the Junior Enduro hardship that befell many example, this bike has been preserved in amazing order and was in fact displayed in a pub games room for many years and flanked by a matching green 1980 KX80 and its big brother, an ultra-rare KX250-A4!  KGF Classic Cars are delighted to offer this machine to our ever-diverse portfolio of modern classic cars and motorcycles, ready for the next owner/collector to enjoy.  An unmissable opportunity to own a junior class championship winner.

Ford Fiesta MK3 1.4 Ghia

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A delivery mileage Ford Fiesta Mk3 1.4 Ghia with an incredible 137 miles!

EQUIPMENT
Polycarbonate bumpers with bright insert, grey paint treatment below mouldings, halogen headlights, laminated windscreen, tinted glass, tilt/removable sunroof, locking fuel filler, anti-burst locks, two spoke soft feel steering wheel, tailgate wash/wipe, heated rear window, remote door mirrors, central door locking, remote tailgate release, electric front windows, digital clock, centre console, Ford self-seek model 2006 stereo cassette, tachometer, courtesy light, load compartment light.  Dealer options; Ford tailored rubber mats, mud flaps.

EXTERIOR
With an astonishing and genuine 137 miles from new, this example is most likely to be the lowest mileage in existence!  To suggest that this example is as new is a bold statement, but one which is wholly justified with this perfect Fiesta.  Perhaps most impressive is the underside which has been preserved in a time warp condition, with all orange PDI markings to the suspension components, yellow paint dots to the springs and factory stickers still intact, all features usually destroyed within the first few hundred miles.  In factory original Moondust Silver, (Code 6 2), the paintwork to all factory panels is 100% original and virtually as new aside from a few marks to the bonnet when in storage. The trim sections are perfect and supplying Ford dealer number plates, boot badge and tax disc holder remain fitted.  This example is simply as it left the Perrys Ford showroom in 1992, with absolutely nothing painted, replaced or altered.  Truly a one-off museum piece.

INTERIOR
An interior entirely commensurate with a delivery mileage car!  The cabin space with Astral fabric trim, (Code L7), is simply as it sat in the showroom awaiting collection by the first owner, even down to the Perrys Ford paper mat!  This paper mat is slightly soiled.  Ford Rubber mats, as new themselves, have protected the plush non-woven velour Ghia carpets perfectly and all trim sections, controls and switchgear have the new car feel which is lost soon after regular use.  Unbelievably, even the green circular PDI sticker to the end of the wiper stalk is still intact!  All functions operate flawlessly including the Ford self-seek model 2006 stereo cassette.  Probably most nostalgia evoking of all is the new car smell that has been retained, instantly familiar as a Ford and ready to transport you back to a Ford showroom in 1992!  Totally originally and impossible to better.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 1392cc CVH four cylinder engine featuring twin venture carburettor and automatic choke set up produces a lively 75bhp at 5600rpm.  A top speed of 102mph and 0-60 is achieved in 10.6 seconds, easily adequate for modern traffic conditions.  The pristine engine bay has original plates, fragile paper stickers and factory panel stampings clearly visible.  A Ford Motorcraft oil filter and the grey Ford HT Leads remain fitted, and all fluids are clean and clear.  A sticker in the engine bay confirms a cambelt change on 2nd February 2018 with one mile covered since! The engine is whisper quiet and the 5-speed manual gearbox feels brand new!

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The factory steel wheels of size 4½ x 13 are in perfect order with the original Ghia full wheel covers fitted and as new.  The factory fitted Pirelli P2000 165/65 R13 tyres obviously are amazing with no cracks and even the bobbles and coloured banding are still prominent.  The servo-assisted diagonally split brakes with 9½” discs up front and 7”drums at the rear are free and operate correctly.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on the 29th January 1992 by Ford Main Dealers Perrys of North Finchley, this exceptional example was purchased by a Mr Oliver Addison Esq, with a sales invoice in the history file made out to him illustrating a price paid of £9,700 after a discount of £1300.84.  Sadly, just days after purchasing the car Mr Addison was diagnosed with serious illness and never drove the car again despite taxing the car every year until his passing in 1995.  Having covered just 136 miles the car was given to his daughter, Miss Judith Addison, who does not drive but could not bare to part with it so it subsequently went into her garage where it remained until January 2018.    Thankfully the garage also housed the homes boiler which helped to keep the car warm, dry and preserved perfectly as evident today.  The car has then been sold to a good friend of Miss Addison.  The history file contains the original blue and current V5 documents confirming ownership from Father to Daughter as well and the handbooks and a typed history from Miss Addison.

A highly collectable and desirable Ghia model Fiesta, effectively a brand new car and priced identically to the invoice price in 1992.

HISTORY FILE
This incredibly low mileage example was registered new on the 24th July 2001 to the supplying Dealer, Arnold Clark Automobiles Ltd in Liverpool in order to qualify for the pre-registration bonus.  Three days later on the 27th July it was registered to Mr John William Lysaght.  The New Car Invoice in the history file reveals a total purchase price of £8,250.  Mr Lysaght part exchanged his 1997 Rover 200 S that had covered 24,102 miles.  Remaining in his pampered care for the next 17 years the annual MOT history reveals the minimal mileage covered each year before his passing in 2018.  Sold by KGF Classic Cars to Mr Peter Bailey, the car was treated to a documented major service, cambelt and water pump renewal as well as new Continental Tyres, battery and a set of genuine Rover floor mats.  The very conscientious Mr Bailey has kept a full log of every journey and even took the trouble to contact the selling dealer, Arnold Clark, who kindly sent him a full dealer brand book pack and rear screen sticker!  Now wanting an original Rover Mini Cooper, Mr Bailey has decided to part with the Rover and KGF Classic Cars are delighted to welcome it back.

The beautifully presented history folder is accompanied by all documentation, handbooks, leaflets and brochures as presented when new to Mr Lysaght.  Two sets of keys and remotes are also present.  A perfect entry into affordable classic car ownership with an immaculate surviving model now deserving of an appreciative new owner and Rover aficionado.

Renault Sport Spider

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

One of 100 UK RHD Renault Sport Spiders with just 3,608 miles.

MODEL HISTORY
Innovative aluminium construction, suspension and underpinnings of a pure race car, power from the hottest of hatchbacks, no side windows, no door handles and tiny production volumes totalling just 1,685 units are all features of a specialist car builder and not from one of Europe’s biggest mass producers.  That is the appeal of the Renault Sport Spider unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 1995 and built at the Dieppe factory, home to the famous Alpine marque, between 1996 and 1999. The UK market only imported the windscreen version rather than the aeroscreen and only 100 right hand drive cars were produced.  From the beginning a special one-car racing series for a purpose built Spider Trophy edition was designed.  This ran for several years as support to the British Touring Car Championship with famous drivers such as Jason Plato, who won 11 out of 14 races in the inaugural year of the UK Spider Cup.

EQUIPMENT
All aluminium spaceframe chassis, aluminium roll bar, vertically opening doors, body-coloured adjustable door mirrors, adjustable pedal positions, removable storage box in luggage compartment, laminated heated windscreen, single wide-sweep wiper, tonneau cover, elasticated door and passenger footwell storage nets, remote bonnet and engine cover  levers in passenger door sill, engine immobiliser and coded key.  Accessories;  Colour coded rear spoiler, Momo steering wheel.

EXTERIOR
The arresting two-tone colour scheme finished in desirable metallic pearlescent Sports Yellow, (Code 535), looks incredible and can trace its heritage to the Laguna concept car in 1990.  The smooth pebble-like design is uncluttered and muscular with large air-gulping side scoops and attention grabbing ‘beetle-wing’ cantilever doors.  With such low miles the original condition is almost faultless with only a tiny tear to the front rubber splitter caused while be loaded onto a trailer and minor dimples to one wing top.  The jacking point red triangular guide stickers are still attached and the heated front screen has the Renault inscription.  An entirely hand built car and so rare.

INTERIOR
A very raw simplistic ‘back to basic’ feel with a modern, minimalist and uncluttered look.  Two fabulous Recaro race-style bucket seats offer the perfect degree of lumber and lateral support and are trimmed in waterproof PVC coated knitted fabric with the side parts finished in matt and the central panel featuring a flecked metallic motif in mottled grey, all in pristine condition.  Adjustment of the seats and the drilled aluminium pedals via a knob located beneath the dashboard ensures the perfect driving position.  Anodised aluminium of the dashboard crossbar and gear knob nicely offset the body-coloured interior panels and the aluminium chassis and cross member are left exposed.  All instrumentation functions and looks stunning set in an aluminium-finish bezel contrasting with the futuristic dash top digital displays.  As with the rest of the interior, the silicon carbide-reinforced PVC floor covering has no wear and the original Renault Sport steering wheel is included with the car.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The engine located transversely amidships is the tremendous 4-cylinder DOHC 150 bhp 16 valve 2.0 litre F7R Clio Williams engine with 0-60mph quoted at 7.05 seconds and a top speed of 134 mph.  Presented in factory standard guise and immaculate in appearance.  As with the engine, the 5-speed gearbox is mounted transversely and features effective pendulum suspension to prevent vibrations being transmitted through the chassis.  Quick, direct and perfectly suited to the responsive engine.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Lightweight five-spoke alloy wheels with plated bolts are shod in premium 205/50 R16 Michelin Pilot tyres.  Big 300mm ventilated disc brakes all-round taken from the larger and heavier 166 mph A610 Turbo rein in the exuberant performance of this super-lightweight Spider.

HISTORY FILE
This UK RHD Renault Sport Spider is one of just 100 examples made and was supplied by Renault Main Dealers, Charles Hurst Belfast.  With just two former keepers from new, the last two being friends each owning another lower mileage RHD Spider, this car has been pampered by knowledgeable enthusiasts.  The level of dedication can be witnessed in a specialist prepared hardback book on this car commissioned by the second owner detailing photos of the car including the immaculate underside.  Every conceivable brochure produced for the Sport Spider has been collected in the history file including one for the rare Laguna Project headed by Patrick Le Quement.  The vehicle handbooks and service book are housed in the factory supplied aluminium briefcase often held back as a souvenir and two sets of Renault keys are supplied.  Unrivalled pleasure and a significant part of automotive history.

EXTERIOR
Finished in Polar White the appearance of this successful and iconic motorcycle can only be described as stunning.  Virtually identical to AR50-C5 variant this AR80 was the envy of many 16 year olds not legally allowed to ride one!  The pristine full cradle frame helped to illuminate the ‘weedy’ look of excess space below the handlebars and the racetrack proven Uni-Trak rear suspension is spotlessly clean and as standard.  Fine detail can be found in such items as the chain guard sticker and fully working easy-read instrumentation.  The decals, trim sections, rubbers and seat are immaculate but the front cowling shows a very light hairline crack that has not gone through, barely visible.  Industry leading Kawasaki AR50/80 AE50/80 UK Specialists, Holmetech of Chorley, restored this Polar White example to an incredible standard, with attention to detail extending to the brand-new genuine Kawasaki mirrors, sourced from the US with original boxes kept.  Fabulously retro!

Massey Ferguson 20B Tractor

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

An ex Croydon Council Massey Ferguson 20B Tractor in show condition.

MODEL HISTORY
Founded in 1847 in Ontario, Canada by Daniel Massey, it was not until 1953 that the then named Massey-Harris merged with The Ferguson Company, founded by Harry Ferguson to become Massey-Harris Ferguson.  The name was simplified in 1958 to Massey Ferguson to which it remains known today.  Widely regarded to have revolutionised agriculture in the western world in the 20th century, it was the collaboration with and subsequent buy-out of Frank Perkins Ltd that later produced the Massey Ferguson 20B Model.  This model, first introduced in 1973, was powered by the Perkins AD3.152 three-cylinder diesel unit, an engineering legend in its own right.

EQUIPMENT
Quick-detaching noise level reducing cab, streamlined fenders, forward hinged fully glazed stay-open doors, hydraulic system with MF quadrant, 3.66gal/min pump, swinging drawbar option, auto hitch, 3-point linkage with chain stabilisers, Cat 1 and 2 interchangeable ball-ends, foot and hand throttle, rear-view mirror, quick-detach radiator grille, cab accessible air filter, windscreen wiper, opening side and rear windows, full lighting set, cab light, cab heater, sunvisor, lunch box, sliding spring suspension seat.

EXTERIOR
This wonderful 1985 Model 20B is finished in the factory colour of Massey Ferguson Industrial Yellow, (Code P-46), exactly as it was supplied when new to The London Borough of Croydon Council.  Subject to an expensive full restoration, this show tractor presents beautifully with a bright vibrant finish and excellent attention to detail.  Having enjoyed only light duties and low hours usage, it provided an excellent base to create what is now one of the cleanest examples in existence.  Meticulous refurbishment or replacement of trim sections, glass, lights and fittings to an almost new standard has been achieved, and the Massey Ferguson and Croydon Council decals are a wonderful finishing touch.  This is the tractor everybody drew as a child, and now the life size version is available to the child at heart or collector seeking the best!

INTERIOR
Surprisingly well equipped and functional, even down to the operator’s lunchbox!  The interior is in superb order with the cab off restoration allowing for the painting of exposed mechanical components and floor sections which remains protected by the ribbed rubber matting.  Incredibly, the seat and interior materials were retrimmed by none other than the Trimmers used by Aston Martin, and as such are completed to the highest standard.  All functions, lights and controls operate perfectly including the operator comfort features, hand throttle and hydraulic equipment.  All dials and gauges provide accurate readings.  The battery cover cowling shows light damage to one corner.  A clean, unspoilt and utilitarian cab, a far cry from a hard life on the farm!

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Needing little introduction is the world-famous Perkins diesel engine from Frank Perkins Ltd of Peterborough, just a stone through away from KGF Classic Cars headquarters.  The three-cylinder AD3.152 unit fitted to this model produces 45hp at 2250rpm and 123lb ft of torque at 1300rpm.  The easily accessible engine is clean and displays factory castings and Perkins Engines plate as well as the Massey Ferguson Great Britain serial plate behind the quick-detach radiator grille.  The 8 forward and 2 reverse gears in high/low range operate perfectly.  An instantly recognisable drum from the Perkins unit sounds characteristically bulletproof and is simply delightful.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Factory correct, the cast steel wheels are painted to match the body and the 6.00-16 front and 12.4-28 R-1 rear tyres were fitted brand new as part of the restoration with virtually no usage since.  The tyres even still have the maker’s chalk markings!  The outboard drum brakes operate to the large rear wheels only and via a dual brake pedal can operate independently or locked together.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on 7th October 1985, the V5 registration document shows the first owner as The Transport Manager London Borough of Croydon.  The vehicle remained in the Council’s ownership, proudly displaying their branding on the bonnet, and used only for light maintenance duties in the city parks, and having logged a mere 5811 hours, the equivalent of around seven days’ work a year!  In 2010 it was purchased by classic tractor collector, Mr Anthony Lally, who commissioned the full no expense spared restoration to be carried out, where upon completion it sat alongside his Massey Ferguson 165 and Massey Ferguson TE20.  Mr Lally’s tractors are used occasionally for shows and even as a wedding vehicle for several friends and family!  UK registered, road legal and tax exempt, this tractor can even be driven on a standard driving license.  The history file contains the V5 registration document along with Massey Ferguson publications and sales literature.  Guaranteed to delight the nostalgic agricultural worker and collector alike, or simply the classic car enthusiast appreciative of all things drivable!

HISTORY FILE
This Land Rover Series 2a was registered new on the 6th September 1967 to Mr Peter Ernest Roalfe and a record of all owners since is documented in the history file.  The current custodian, Ryan Dickinson, has embarked on a better-than-new restoration in a quest to reminisce fond childhood memories when he and his father would enjoy trips out in their new Land Rover.  Purchasing a useable example which initially appeared to require only a minor recommission the full scale of the works necessary to meet Ryan’s exacting standards soon became apparent.  Photos of the vehicle on initial purchase are included in the history file.  The huge history file reveals the extent of the expenditure with all receipts neatly filed and providing the next owner with reassuring confirmation of the investment this example has enjoyed.  A stark lesson of how much money is necessary to create such a beautiful example.  Featured in Classic Land Rover magazine issue 56 Jan 2018, knowledgeable contributor Emrys Kirby, remarks ‘I knew the vehicle would be good because just about everything was new and clearly fitted with an obsessive eye detail’.   Ryan has made the very difficult decision to sell the vehicle for personal reasons and a contribution of the sale proceeds are going to the Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice to assist people aged 16 and over who are living with conditions like cancer, heart failure and lung disease.  A truly amazing vehicle built with an unrivalled dedication to be one of the best.

Being the 1.4 Auto this is the highest specification Broadway Edition available with unique features such as the Sand velour upholstery in lieu of cloth check and full deep pile carpeting.  Genuine Renault rubber floor mats front and rear have been fitted since new and even the supplying dealer paper floor mats have been kept!  Also unique to the top specification 1.4 Auto is the Philips Car Cassette Receiver 451 in full working condition along with all the other switches and gauges.  Natural veins to the unworn steering wheel only found on very low mileage cars are clearly visible and the pedal rubbers are virtually new.  The boot area is factory perfect and unused along with the jack and wheel brace.  A new 1980’s Renault lounge interior.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fitted with the 1397cc 4 cylinder engine with integral electronic ignition, a power output of 68bhp is quoted, enough to reach 96mph.  A spotless and unmolested engine compartment displays all the manufacturer plates, stickers and paint code markings as well as PDI paint dabs.  A service using genuine Renault parts has just been carried out.  The optional 3-speed automatic transmission changes gear smoothly and offers a very capable and lively drive, typical of a lightweight French car.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Four aerodynamic wheel stylers are unmarked with the Renault logo and incredibly still shod in the factory tubeless Michelin XZX 155 SP13 tyres.  Although preserved with no cracks if regular use is intended it would be prudent to change the tyres for modern items and preserve the original set for shows. Dual circuit hydraulic brakes incorporate servo assistance with discs up front and rear drums with a pressure limiter to offer adequate stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on the 6th May 1986 by Renault Main Dealer Arnold Clark, this immaculate example has only had two family owners from new, Mr James Lamont senior and Mr James Lamont junior.  Senior Mr Lamont kept the vehicle for Sunday best being an absolute stickler for preservation he even kept the Arnold Clark paper floor mats still with the car!  On his passing in 2004 his son inherited the vehicle keeping it raised off the ground in a centrally heated garage and continuing the preservation.  Adamant that the car must find a good home KGF Classic Cars are honoured to be given the opportunity to work with this rare surviving Renault 9, seldom seen on UK roads, and will guarantee it will suit any Renault enthusiast or collector of quirky perfect classic cars.  Two sets of keys on original dealer fobs.

The R107 Mercedes-Benz SL achieved iconic status in the 1970’s and 80’s and became a byword for success, a car for those who had made it! Now a stalwart feature of the modern classic car era, this 280SL represents a superb example having covered just 57,069 miles from new. Finished in factory optional Champagne Metallic, (Code 473), the paintwork boasts a magnificent finish and uniform shine. This fabulously period colour accentuates the cars classic elegant lines, and even upon close scrutiny only tiny markings can be found. The original Dark Brown hood, (Code 8023), is as new, as are the side and rear hood windows. The original colour coded hard top remains with the car and is in immaculate condition, and the hood aperture is clean and displays the original foam bump stops. The high-quality chrome has a mirror finish and trim sections and rubbers are superb. A car that excelled in engineering, build quality and craftsmanship when new, this example has been preserved exactly as Mercedes intended.

INTERIOR
The interior of this 280SL, upholstered in matching Cream Beige fabric with leather side trim, (Code 075), has remained in fantastic condition. The seats are beautifully preserved and commensurate with the low mileage and all seat structure is fully intact with no loss of shape. One miniscule mark to the driver’s seat base can be seen and there is a virtually invisible nick to the leather upper bolster. The deep pile carpets are pristine having been protected from new by Mercedes over mats. The fascia is perfect and all the gauges, controls and electrics operate exactly as they should, including the optional Philips 750 radio cassette. The rear luggage area has the original first aid kit in the side holder and the boot area has the factory supplied toolkit as well as the original warning triangle. Originality seekers will note the rear light clusters complete with delicate manufacturer stickers still attached. Hugely advanced ergonomically and from an era when Mercedes-Benz set the standard for all makers to emulate.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The six-cylinder in-line engine fitted to the 280SL model offered a power output quoted in the manufacturer literature of 185hp and 240Nm of torque, enough to propel this driving machine to a maximum speed of 121mph whilst 0-60 is achieved in 10.01 seconds. The engine bay is spotless and retains all manufacturer stickers, plates and panel stampings. The low mileage credentials are evident in the perfect under-bonnet insulation panel which is usually deteriorated. The four-speed automatic transmission is flawless in operation with positive kickdown.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The original 12-hole colour coded hubcaps with chromium plated rims are unrestored and in excellent order with only light hairline scratches to the outer edges. Quality matching Michelin Energy 195/70 R14 tyres have masses of tread and the unused spare wheel remains shod in the factory Continental Supercontact tyre which still displays the coloured banding! Dual-circuit servo assisted brakes with discs to all four wheels offer powerful stopping capabilities.
