Eight large picture windows, roll-down cab windows, front quarter lights, plastic lined cab, one piece windshield, windshield washers, windshield defogger, two rear view mirrors, safety door handles, floor lined with insulating rubber matting, sound deadening, handsome hand fitted headliner, fully adjustable front seats, coat hooks, padded armrests, grab handles, ashtrays, flow-through ventilation, automatic choke, cigar lighter, side sliding door, insulated passenger compartment, safety padded rear cab wall, assist straps, roof high luggage compartment.  Additional L specification; Clifton White roof and upper body, chrome VW sign, vent wings in cab doors, twin reversing lights.  Factory options; eight-seat 2-3-3 configuration.

EXTERIOR
This absolutely wonderful Kombi Microbus is a very rare vehicle having avoided the fate of many camper conversions.  Not only has this Kombi remained as intended, it has remained largely original and well preserved.  The original colour of Sunburst Yellow/Clifton White, (Code 234S), is bright and looks superb.  Evidence of remedial paintwork and light age-related markings can be seen but do not detract from the overall impressive appearance.  The white painted bumpers are in excellent order and all trim sections, rubbers, lights and badges are fully intact.  Incredibly the sticker for the supplying VW/Audi Main Dealer in South Africa remains fitted in the rear screen!  Having spent the majority of its life in dry climates with salt free roads, the underside is amazingly well preserved and factory panels are straight and free from repair work.  A very genuine Microbus, one for continued preservation.

INTERIOR
An ingenious and hugely practical interior is revealed upon opening the wide front 90-degree cab doors and huge slide loading door.  The neatly designed and well thought out passenger compartment will comfortably seat 6 occupants with masses of leg and head room, whilst leaving the large roof high luggage compartment unimpeded.  The cabin space offers space for two further occupants in the fully adjustable seats.  The seats, door cards, side panels and matching spare wheel cover are trimmed in original Dark Brown Leatherette PVC, (Code 68), which remains in superb order with no rips or damage.  Even the safety armrests are fully intact, although notable upon close scrutiny is a repair panel to the driver’s seat lower bolster which is slight off colour.  Factory build plates are found behind the driver’s seat and there are factory stickers still affixed the driver’s door shut.  The handsome head liner is undamaged and shows only very light discolouration, and all controls and functions operate well.  With plenty of room for friends and family, this is the ultimate recreational classic.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The factory fitted 2.0 Type 4 engine as fitted to this example is the correct carburettor version as denoted by the CJ prefix to the engine number.  Producing 69bhp at 4200rpm and 143Nm torque at 2800rpm, this more powerful unit is perfectly suited to the T2 and even now is highly regarded for its impressive capabilities.  The engine fires into life effortlessly and motorway cruising is surprisingly refined and far superior compared to smaller engine models.   The engine compartment is clean and there is a generous yet carefully applied layer of protective wax.  Reliable usage is a given due to fastidious maintenance using correct grade oils and genuine and specialist supplier parts.  The fully synchronized 4-speed gearbox operates very well.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Correct steel rims with L specification VW mirror finish original chrome hubcaps show only light aging and matching quality Maxxis Victra 510 185/80 R14 tyres are virtually unused having been fitted brand new in 2015.  A dual hydraulic brake system operating front discs operate exactly as Volkswagen intended.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new on the 1st January 1976, the selling dealer was VW/Audi Main Agent, Alan Hudson & Kie Co of Nelspruit in South Africa.  Owned initially and briefly by an elderly couple in Nelspruit, at one year old the Microbus was purchased by an Italian gentleman, Enzo Volante, who incredibly owned it for 39 years!  Email correspondence between long term owner Mr Volante and the most recent keeper is kept in the history file along with a full ownership trace.  In this delightful and informative exchange, Mr Volante regaled stories of trips to Durban, Johannesburg and more local Kruger Park.  Further perusal of the large and beautifully presented history file is a very enjoyable task where you will learn that the vehicle only entered the UK in 2016 after being imported by a South African gentleman living in Essex.  The history file contains all import papers whereby UK duty and full DVLA registration has been completed.  There are many VW specialist receipts and invoices to leave in no doubt the care this cherished Microbus has enjoyed.  A valuation letter from December 2016 by Mr E Farrage of the NECPWA Vintage Motoring Club places a value of £28,000 on the vehicle having noted the bodywork/chassis and mechanical condition to be in Class 1 condition, and in his own words, “this one certainly has to be among the best and most original examples left”.

Yamaha FS1-E Fizzy

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

An iconic matching numbers UK Yamaha FS1-E ‘Fizzy’ in superb condition.

EQUIPMENT
Pressed steel tubular backbone type frame, 26mm telescopic front forks, naked spring type rear cushion, Yamaha reed-valve torque-induction system, primary coupled kick-starter, chrome mudguards front and rear, chrome side repeaters, two chrome adjustable mirrors, Nippon Seiki speedometer, odometer, turn signal switch, headlight switch, neutral indicator, horn, large twin seat with assist strap, rear footrests, fuel valve with reserve, side storage locker.

EXTERIOR
This wonderful example is finished in desirable Competition Yellow with correct tank and side panel decals.  The superb paintwork pops beautifully in the sunlight and displays a uniform polished finish with no markings worthy of mention.  The black tubular backbone type frame is pristine with the matching stock stamping clearly legible, and the trim pieces, chrome fitment, seat and lights are in excellent order.  All lights, functions and controls operate as they should.  The previous owner, an eclectic antiques expert, has made some alterations to suit his taste including a colour change from Baja Brown, addition of detachable chrome brace bars, removal of the pedals and a chrome replacement of the factory air box, with the standard items having been kept for the next owner.  A hugely collectable bike that instantly became a teenage cult classic and remains as ever popular today.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The original engine number stamping confirms this as a matching numbers machine.  A single cylinder 2-stroke engine with Yamaha reed-valve torque-induction system has a 49cc displacement to produce 4.8hp at 7000rpm and 5.1lb-ft of torque at 6000rpm.  Manufacturer marketing literature quotes a maximum speed range of 46mph, unrestricted of course for those wishing to ignore the 30mph limit imposed for UK riders!  This example kicks into life effortlessly and performs wonderfully.  The engine is spotlessly clean and the crank casing retains the high-polished finish and Yamaha lettering.  The 4-speed ‘all down’ transmission with working neutral indicator is effortless in operation.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The original 36 spoke chromium plated wheel rims are unrestored and display outer rim stampings.  2.25-217 front and 2.50-17 rear tyres retain excellent tread and good rubber condition.  Waterproof-Dustproof brakes with aluminium single leading shoe drums front and rear perform exactly as intended.

HISTORY FILE
Launched in the UK in 1973, the Yamaha FS1-E (E to denote England) was seen as the saviour of many 16-year-old who felt cruelly curtailed by a change in licencing legislation introduced in 1973.  Nobody could have predicted the success to follow with the FS1-E quickly becoming Yamaha’s top selling bike in the UK within three months of launch, and the affectionate nickname ‘Fizzy’ becoming firmly adopted!  Registered new on the 8th July 1977, this UK example is a matching numbers bike with identification markers clearly visible, legible and un-tampered.  An iconic model in 2-stroke moped history, the Yamaha FS1 ‘Fizzy’ series was born from and ironically eventually discontinued following changes in legislation, but not before securing legendary status throughout the 1970’s and ever since.  An original Yamaha FS1 sales brochure is even kept in the history file!  This fully operational and useable bike is equally impressive as a show piece.  A rare opportunity to acquire this Yamaha FS1-E where inspection and trial will not disappoint.

Subaru Impreza P1

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

The ultimate highly collectable Subaru Impreza P1 with only 4,786 miles.

MODEL HISTORY
The Subaru Impreza P1 was a car that was designed for UK tarmac to be as close to the WRC rally car than ever before.  A collaboration of Subaru UK, Prodrive, Subaru Japan and Subaru Tecnica International, (STI).  Prodrive—the outfit responsible for race-prepping Subaru’s championship winning rally cars—was brought in to specially develop said cars, of which only 1,000 were built, all in Sonic Blue.  Costing £31,495 when new and an instant hit, Richard Burns the British rally driver who won the 2001 World Rally Championship, is quoted in the sales brochure as saying, ‘…weight and feel is better even than the RB5…straight line as quick as a rally car… turn in is sharper, but there’s no hint of twitchiness’. A very important piece of Subaru history and UK Special Editions.

EQUIPMENT
Bonnet scoop, 90mm Hella H4 driving lamps, colour-keyed mirrors, door handles and side skirts, unique rear spoiler, Momo steering wheel, air conditioning, quick shift, twin airbags, RAC Trackstar, electric windows and mirrors, power steering, adjustable steering wheel, rear wiper, internal boot and fuel release, Quartz digital clock, Clarion DRX6575Rz CD player.

EXTERIOR
The striking Sonic Blue paintwork gleams from pampered indoor storage and limited exposure to the elements thanks to just 4,786 miles being covered.  From the McLaren F1 to the Subaru WRC car the Peter Stevens design credentials are timeless, purposeful and an instant hit from all angles.  The P1 runs on 20mm lower than standard Turbos on Eibach springs and STI dampers and this example is factory correct in every respect.  The P1 driving lamp covers supplied when new remain unused and the supplying dealer window sticker is attached.  All apertures are spotlessly clean and the underside is a purists dream having never been stripped, cleaned and refurbished.  One for the fastidious perfectionist.

INTERIOR
As close to factory fresh as feasibly possible some 18 years after rolling off the production line.  Wing-backed Prodrive branded sports bucket seats show no wear and the only owner from new paid extra for Prodrive carpet mats and boot liner along with the Subaru rubber mats!  The red stitching on the Momo steering wheel and gear knob is vivid and the optional upgraded Clarion CD player along with all other controls function correctly.  The glass has all stickers attached.  Quite possibly the ultimate P1.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Phenomenal.  Creating 280bhp, (some 69bhp more than a standard Impreza Turbo) a hard-edged exhaust note combined with a whistle of turbo is intoxicatingly addictive.  0-60mph is dispatched in 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 155mph is quoted in a car weighing just 1,275kg.  The engine bay is standard and very clean with the numbered plaque proudly displaying 0065. The quick shift short throw gear change maximises full use of the power.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Gorgeous titanium effect 17” Prodrive O.Z. alloys as used on the year 2000 World Rally Cars are unmarked and still shod in the factory Pirelli P Zero Asimmetrico 205/45 ZR17 tyres.  Powerful disc brakes all-round with ABS stop the car quickly.

INTERIOR
The original black leatherette interior is spotless with all seats and matching door cards fully intact and remarkably free from wear.  The factory fitted padded steering wheel with Wolfsburg crest is pristine, as is all other fully functioning controls and switchgear, including the Radiomobile push-button stereo.  The factory sticker to the inner glovebox lid remains and the headlining is clean, fully intact and displays only very light discolouration around the rear seams.  The front luggage compartment displays factory plates and stickers and houses the original spare wheel still feeding the pneumatic washer system, a system sadly often removed in favour of an electric washer pump.  Ten years ago, the previous long-term owner found a Two Shilling coin underneath the carpet dated near the cars production and sentiment/superstition has led him to insist it remained there when he sold the car!

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The matching numbers standard air-cooled rear mounted engine produces 52bhp from its 1285cc displacement enabling a top speed of 78mph with the unmistakable Beetle engine note delightfully pronounced but completely unobtrusive.  The engine bay is amazingly clean, exactly as Volkswagen intended and incredibly the original, yet now arguably primitive, Volkswagen diagnostics plug remains fitted!   The fully synchronized 4-speed gearbox works perfectly offering light and precise gear changes.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The original pressed steel wheels are dressed in immaculate chrome half wheel covers and shod in branded 155 R15 tyres with excellent tread remaining.  Dual circuit drums front and rear operate freely, offering modest yet perfectly adequate stopping power when compared to modern vehicles, exactly as they were made!
