Mk1 Morris Mini Moke

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A rare matching numbers British built Mk1 Morris Mini Moke in spectacular condition.

MODEL HISTORY
The British military, initially the Royal Marines were looking for a lightweight air-portable vehicle and the British Motor Corporation (BMC) devised the Mini Moke based on the underpinnings of Sir Alec Issigonis Mini design.  Prototypes were running by 1959 but feedback from military tests was lukewarm and despite revisions sales ended in 1963 mainly due to poor ground clearance and being under powered.  To recoup development costs the vehicle was turned into a civilian runabout with both Austin and Morris badges.  Production began in December 1963 at the Longbridge plant with most Mokes being exported to warmer climates and ceased in 1968.  Later Australian and Portuguese Mini Mokes were made until 1993 but it is the British built Mokes that are the most collectable.

EQUIPMENT
External bonnet catches, louvered cooling panel, folding removable front screen, tubular front and rear bumpers, rear mounted spare wheel, folding soft top, single windscreen wiper, stalk tell-tale indicator lamp, mixture control, ignition, high-beam and low oil pressure lights, single wiper, foot operated dip switch, horn, speedometer  Factory Options; Sump protector, rear grab handles, passenger seat, rear seats.

EXTERIOR
Available in just one colour, Spruce Green, (Code GN13), this remarkable Mk1 Mini Moke is true to the original design having never been restored.  The pressed steel unitary construction allows easy viewing and purists will be amazed at all the factory spot welds and perfect panel overlays.  The strong tubular bumpers are unmarked with endcaps still attached and have been painted along with the body.  The detachable hinged bonnet and fold down windscreen are great Moke features along with the folding fabric covered roof.  Lucas headlamps with chromed headlamp bezels have a mirror finish and the correct Lucas L632 combined sidelamp and turn indicator, Lucas rear lights, Lucas reflectors and number plate illumination are all factory specification.   The correct body colour large knurled filler cap remains in place along with the rare factory optional sump protector.  One of the most fascinating Mini incarnations are extremely rare in this condition.

INTERIOR
Sparse, exposed and immense fun are terms that best describe a Moke interior!  Simplicity in all aspects treat the driver to basic controls familiar to most Mini owners with fresh air aplenty!  All the instruments, switches and warning lights function.  This example is fitted with the optional passenger and rear seats all with pristine linked cushions and securing tabs.  Optional rear grab handles are also fitted and the folding hood is in prime condition.  Wonderfully quirky.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
All the Longbridge built Mokes had the 848cc engine and incredibly this example is still fitted with the original factory supplied unit and is therefore a desirable matching numbers vehicle.  The beautifully clean engine bay is a show piece and originality seekers will be delighted to see items like the Coventry stamped radiator, Morris Motors car plate on the radiator cowling and Commission Number plate on the opposite side.  These identification tags are originals and not replicas.  The early Mini gearbox with no synchromesh on first gear and identified by a U in the engine number prefix is light, precise and an absolute joy to use.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Pressed steel disc wheels finished in Old English White with 4-stud fixing are dressed in small chrome Mini hubcaps all in excellent condition.  Expensive brand new Dunlop SP Aquajet 145 SR10 tyres have been fitted including one to the rear mounted spare. Braking to all four wheels is hydraulically operated by a pendant pedal with two leading shoes at the front and Cooper S drums with built-in spacers to the rear.  All factory correct and in optimal working condition.

HISTORY FILE
This matching numbers British built Mk1 Morris Mini Moke was produced on the 25th February 1966 and despatched to Italy on the 16th March 1966.  The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate confirms the chassis number, engine number and body number all match, a most unusual and highly sought after aspect in such a car.  The vehicle was discovered by Saverio Fasulo, (the father of KGF Classic Cars company Director, Karl Fasulo), while holidaying in the Puglia region of Italy.  Being a car fanatic himself he heard of a small collection of cars with a wealthy individual in a small and idyllic village called Bovino.  The virtually untouched vehicle was residing with only this second owner from new, Mr Mario Buonassisi, who, after some persuasion agreed to sell it to Mr Fasulo.  On arrival to the UK Mr Fasulo has cherished this rare icon while reminiscing serving his Apprenticeship with BMC and refreshing the car in all areas!

Porsche 928 GTS

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A formidable and highly coveted Porsche 928 GTS with just 46,238 miles.

MODEL HISTORY
Produced from 1978 to 1995, the Porsche 928 was initially developed as a replacement for the quirky and sometimes difficult to drive 911. However, the characteristics of this V8 Gran Turismo, Porsche’s first production V8 model, were somewhat different to the 911 and direct replacement did not come to fruition. Porsche’s design and development efforts paid off during the 1978 European Car of the Year, where the 928 won ahead of the BMW 7-Series and the Ford Granada. The final and arguably the most coveted 928 models was the GTS as presented here.

EQUIPMENT
2 door 2+2 coupe, aluminium front wings, doors and bonnet, front and rear deformable polyurethane body panels, integral front spoiler, rear boot spoiler, retractable halogen headlamps, front and rear deformation zones, driver’s airbag, heated windscreen washers, high pressure headlamp washers, fibre optic instrument panel, air conditioning with climate control, cruise control, electric adjust to front seats, driver’s memory seat, heated front seats. Factory options; Electric sliding steel sunroof.

This late and very desirable 928 GTS is finished in stunning Slate Grey Metallic, (Code L23F), boasting a beautiful deep shine and high polished finish. All panels and large polyurethane trim sections are in excellent order and the factory glass remains with all rubbers and lights in prime order. There is a very small faint paint blemish around the nearside door mirror and another almost undetectable paint imperfection below the nearside rear window. An epic muscular Porsche Gran Turismo.

INTERIOR
The unique interior of the 928, a masterpiece from the Porsche Design Studio, is both functional and wonderfully elegant. The sculptured, anatomically correct seats are trimmed in the original hand-stitched draped leather in light grey, (Code GZ). The upholstery is spotlessly clean and in excellent order with no undue wear or crazing to the hide. The matching colour scheme carpets have been protected from new by expensive Porsche tailored over mats. The fibre optic instrument panel has all elements working perfectly with just some light crazing to the instrument backing. The rear seats fold completely flat to create a spacious luggage area and the pristine boot space housing the original space saver spare wheel with Vredstein tyre and factory jack in the original sheath. Factory build stickers to the driver’s door shut and the factory options code sticker to the boot floor remain, essential for originality seekers. The ultimate GT interior, built to cruise the Riviera!

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The powerful heart of the 928GTS is a 5.4 litre, V8 engine. This quad-cam 32v alloy engine produces 350bhp at 5700rpm and maximum torque 500Nm at just 4250rpm. An intoxicating engine soundtrack invokes you as you achieve 0-60mph in just 5.7 seconds and a possible top speed of 170mph, as quoted in the original Porsche marketing literature. Porsche originality aficionados will delight at the clean engine bay displaying all factory plates, stickers and even the original Shell Fuel and Lubrication sticker! Effortless cruising is offered by the 4-speed automatic transmission which operates perfectly with Porsche Dynamic kickdown.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Forged alloy ‘Cup Design’ wheels of size 7.5J x 17 front and 9J x 17 rear are in excellent condition with original Porsche centre caps and only very light markings to the outer rims. The engine bay is pristine and proudly displays the bright red ‘Kompressor’ rocker cover infill as well as factory stickers, bulkhead chassis stamp and slam panel stamping. The standard electronically controlled 5-speed automatic transmission operates precisely as it should with positive kickdown and both manual control and winter/sport modes.

Quality matching Continental ContiSport tyres of size 225/45 R17 front and 245/40 R17 rear have plenty of tread remaining. The anti-lock braking system offers absolute stopping power to install complete peace of mind.

HISTORY FILE

All exterior trim items and decals are pristine other than two touched in marks to the coachline and a tiny mark to the scuttle panel. The body has never been machine polished and retains its desirable factory standard appearance craved by purists and exactly as Ford intended. The underside is remarkable and is a perfect reflection of the low mileage, warm storage conditions and limited fair weather use. Simply breathtaking.

INTERIOR
The interior is distinguished by seats fully trimmed with luxurious, high quality Raven leather with Burgundy piping and are Recaro designs. The deep pile grey carpeting is spotless and the black perforated headlining is tight and clean along with the leather covered steering wheel and gear knob, all commensurate with the incredibly low miles covered. There are absolutely no cracks to the dash and the dials, switches and controls are brilliantly clear. Carpet mats have been fitted and minor veins to the driver seat are barely visible. All controls and gauges fully function including the two-speed heater fan, analogue quartz clock and electronic cassette player. The rear parcel-shelf is incredible and the boot area remains unused. This is a very exclusive and iconic 80’s interior exactly true to the manufacturers intentions.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The Capri 2.8i was entrusted to Fords Special Vehicle Engineering group, (SVE), who added a Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection system, an oil/water heat exchanger, viscous coupled fan and an improved radiator making this models 158 BHP capable of 130mph and 0-60mph in 7.9 seconds. The engine is smooth and quiet whilst producing an unmistakable burble. Correct factory under bonnet identification plates are intact including the metal plate with the ‘Brooklands’ inscription and exhibitionists will wow spectators with the cleanliness and originality under the bonnet. The 5 speed gearbox is light and progression through the range is precise.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
This 280 Capri is fitted with the factory correct and unique 7-spoke 7X15 inch alloy wheels and have never been refurbished. Premium matching Continental 195/50 ZR15 tyres are fitted and are as new. The spare is still the original Pirelli Cinturato P7 tyre. The hydraulic dual-line servo-assisted brakes with ventilated front discs unique on the 2.8i stop the car quickly and in a straight line.

HISTORY FILE
Coveted by collectors the limited edition Capri 280 is the most difficult ‘car you promised yourself’ as only 1038 were produced to celebrate the last of a famous line. GG11829 is build number 971 and has only had two former keepers from new. The first owner was Ford themselves who registered the car on the 1st August 1987 followed by Mr Powell who purchased it when just six months old. The Used Vehicle Invoice reveals the sum paid of £9,960.50 when the car had covered 3,070 miles. Mr Powell also stipulated at this time that the oil be changed to Shell Gemini Motor Oil, a premium oil and his only choice. He lovingly garaged the vehicle for most of its life (hence the low mileage of 6,212) and kept the car in pristine condition – which is how it still presents today. In 2013 when Chris Powell sadly passed away, the car was sold to best friend and third registered keeper, Mr Gilette who recognised the significance of this 280 and also kept the car in a preserved state. The car’s condition today is stunning and KGF Classic have embarked on a full recommissioning programme using only genuine Ford service items ready for the next owner to enjoy and cherish.

INTERIOR
The care bestowed on this cherished car is clearly evident in the excellent condition of the fragile interior.  The original Delta cloth upholstery only fitted to the VTR model is clean and unworn along with the pristine door inserts.  The headlining, plastic trim and fascia are perfect and fully functional white dials remind the driver of the sporting credentials.  The original RDS radio with single CD remains fitted and operational.  The boot area containing the wheel brace and towing eye is very clean and displays PDI markings and the original metal data plate.  A very clean and unspoilt interior.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
This Mk2 VTR is fitted with the revised 97bhp four cylinder 1.6L 8 valve engine.  A top speed of 120mph and 0-62mph in 9.4 seconds is quoted and this lively little car is huge fun to drive.  The engine bay remains exactly as intended and displays factory stickers, plates and panel stampings.  The five-speed manual transmission offers light and direct changes with a sporty feel.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
