Ford Sierra RS Cosworth

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A sensational Ford Sierra RS Cosworth pampered with just 52,356 miles.

MODEL HISTORY
The Sierra RS Cosworth project was defined in the spring of 1983 by the then recently appointed head of Ford Motorsport in Europe. It was established that at the time, Ford was no longer competitive in this area. After receiving full support from Ford Public Relations, the project was underway with the Sierra chosen as the basis for the task ahead. Ford Motorsport in Europe approached the automotive company Cosworth who answered positively, but put up two conditions: The street version of the car had to produce no less than 204 HP, and Ford had to accept no less than 15,000 engines. The project would only need about 5,000 engines, but Ford nevertheless accepted the conditions. The extra 10,000 engines would later become one of the reasons Ford also chose to develop a four door, second generation Sierra RS Cosworth. Few cars have ever been greeted with such enthusiasm as the original Sierra RS Cosworth.

EQUIPMENT
Bodyside mouldings, integral front air dam, colour coded door mirrors, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, bonnet cooling vents, halogen headlamps, integral front driving lamps, colour coded polycarbonate bumpers with black insert, single plane rear wing spoiler, tinted glass all round, central locking, leather gearknob, leather three spoke sports steering wheel, cassette storage, electronic sound system (model ECU2) with power amplifier, tilt and slide sunroof, tachometer with turbo boost gauge, quartz digital clock, graphic warning module, electric windows. Dealer accessories; Ford rubber floor mats, VECTA Silhouette immobiliser.

EXTERIOR

All panels are factory original with correct ’86 year date stampings and seam welds to the front wings with the tiny Ford logos visible to those who know where to look. The exterior trim is in excellent order and the front lower rubber splitter, often distorted, retaining correct shape. The glass displays the original number and dots dated Securit etchings, and accuracy seekers will be pleased to see the original Cibie headlamps. The glass is number plate etched and the front screen has delaminated slighted to the lower bottom edge. Supplying Ford dealer number plates and rear screen sticker remain fitted. A truly sensational car commensurate with the incredibly pampered care and true to the original Ford SVE Department design.

INTERIOR
The interior of this RS Cosworth is outstanding and exactly as Ford intended. Finished in Ford Roma and Cashmere Grey Velour, (Code S2), the Recaro seats and door trim are spotless and show virtually no wear. Only very light creasing to the driver’s seat base is evident. The carpets are spotless having been protected from new by tailored Ford floor mats, the dashboard has a tailor made cover and is completely free from distortion. The standard ECU2 electronic sound system with power amplifier is fully operational and the LCD display to warn of bulb failure and open doors operates perfectly. Even an unused Ford first aid kit remains in the uncut parcel shelf. The conscious previous owner has made a tool housed in the boot to take the weight off the shelf when the boot is closed to prevent it bowing. The boot insulation panel designed to raise the boot floor to incorporate the larger spare wheel is present and in perfect condition. A classic and correct Ford RS interior.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fitted with the standard 1993cc Dual Over Head Cam (DOHC) engine with the Garrett AiResearch T3 turbocharger and intercooler, the racing pedigree of this car is truly evident with performance figures quoted of 204bhp, 149mph top speed and 0-60 in just 6.2 seconds. The engine bay will please originality seekers with factory panel stampings on the inner wings, bonnet underside and slam panel. All stickers and plates remain intact and are not reproduction items. Hydraulically boosted anti-lock brakes with 28.3cm ventilated discs up front and 27.3cm discs at the rear bring the car to a sure halt.

HISTORY FILE
Manufactured at the Ford Genk plant in September 1986 and supplied new on the 28th November 1986 by Ford RS Dealer, Bristol Street Motors, this example has covered a genuine and warranted 52,356 miles from new. The huge history file contains every MOT and Ford Main Dealer invoice with the last 11 years being annual at John Grose. Eventually and politely he tasked Mr Parker to go and find his perfect car first and he would then view to confirm the credentials. This was the car that ticked every box and was given the seal of approval, much to Mr Syretts relief! The A4 file is brimmed full with paperwork, all neatly filed in chronical order from the original purchase invoice at Bristol Street Motors for £16,704.69 to the latest cam-belt and water pump change at Harvey Gibbs in August 2019 for £438.14. Yamaha FS1-E ‘Fizzy’

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

An outstandingly original matching numbers UK Yamaha FS1-E with two owners.

MODEL HISTORY
Launched in the UK in 1973, the Yamaha FS1-E (E to denote England) was seen as the saviour of many 16-year-olds who felt cruelly curtailed by a change in licencing legislation introduced in 1973.  Nobody could have predicted the success to follow with the FS1-E quickly becoming Yamaha’s top selling bike in the UK within three months of launch, and the affectionate nickname ‘Fizzy’ becoming firmly adopted.

EQUIPMENT
Pressed steel tubular backbone type frame, telescopic front forks, naked spring type rear cushion, Yamaha Autolube, primary coupled kick-starter, chrome mudguards front and rear, chrome side repeaters, two black adjustable mirrors, Nippon Seiki speedometer, odometer, turn signal switch, headlight switch, neutral indicator, horn, large twin seat with assist strap, rear footrests, fuel valve with reserve, steering lock, helmet lock.  Dealer accessories;  Mud flaps.

EXTERIOR
A desirable very last of the pedal arrangement model, this example is amazingly preserved.  The Space Blue colour scheme is still first paint and the decals have never been replaced.  The smooth sided tank without screw-on badges does show some aging and the black and white speed blocks design on the tank and side panels in the style of Kenny Roberts TZ Yamaha racing bikes is in excellent condition.  The plastic side panels, a first on this model year, are not cracked or scuffed and the black tubular frame still has E11 sticker and matching frame number visible.  The chrome is in good condition with a mirror shine and the grips and pedal rubbers are genuine Yamaha items with the logo visible.  One rear view mirror is damaged and the genuine original Yamaha seat with white logo still visible has had a repair.  Lights, indicators and horn all function and the original supplying dealer number plate is attached.  A hugely collectable bike and a remarkable survivor that instantly became a teenage cult classic.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
This is a matching numbers UK bike with the engine and frame numbers being identical.  A rare FS1-E model incorporating Yamaha’s new Autolube system providing a separate oil tank injecting oil into the induction port by a pump controlled by the throttle position and engine speed, thus no longer needing to mix the oil in the petrol tank.   A single cylinder 2-stroke engine which has a 49cc displacement to produce 3.1hp at 5000rpm and 4.3lb-ft of torque at 4500rpm.  Aging to the engine casing is visible but in-keeping with a beautifully original bike, even the starting warning sticker remains attached!  The four speed gearbox and clutch works perfectly and although fully operational this example has been on display for many years and remains a display bike requiring full recommissioning.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The chromium plated wheel rims are unrestored and display outer rim stampings and have a wonderful shine.  Correctly sized 2.50-17 front and rear tyres retain excellent tread and good rubber condition.  Waterproof-Dustproof 110mm diameter drum brakes perform exactly as intended.

HISTORY FILE
An incredible history file with only two owners from new!  Registered on the 7th May 1977, this UK example is a matching numbers bike with identification markers clearly visible, legible and un-tampered.  Supplied by J.Kersey & Son Ltd in Great Yarmouth to Mr Anthony William Griggs of Ipswich for the sum of £295, this bike remained in Ipswich when sold to the only other owner, Mr Parker in 2004 for £900.  Mr Parker was thrilled to find such an original example with all paperwork, old MOT certificates, spare keys and service log booklet so snapped it up to form part of his motorbike display.  This unmolested example is the exception to the many dubiously restored offerings and remains true to its build in 1977.  Amazing.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new by Vauxhall Main Dealers, F. C. Green Ltd of Hertford, on the 3rd August 1982, this one-off example has covered just 11,967 miles with one owner from new until 2019!  Mr Robert Johnston purchased the car new and his details are entered as the first owner in the original service booklet and on the old style blue V5 registration document.  The wonderful history file is a look back in time to a bygone era of motoring with items such as now obsolete period road maps in the plastic covers and a leather driving licence wallet for Mr Johnston.  There is even an unopened set of Champion spark plugs with price sticker from Halfords for £2.89!  Upon Mr Johnston’s passing, his wife could not bear to part with the car and it remained exactly where it was always kept, in the garage.  The family contacted a local garage to ask them to recover the car and recommission it with the view to the second owner being found.  KGF Classic Cars were contacted and were privileged to be entrusted with this task whereby the car was sold to an existing customer and classic car collector.  Having just purchased a further two cars from us, a Ford Fiesta RS Turbo and a Ford Fiesta ST150, our customer offered the Chevette back to make room and we could not resist!

The original plastic wallet holds all handbooks, radio guides and dealership literature and there is a collection of previous MOT certificates and invoices.  There are two sets of original Vauxhall keys with dealer fob and a limited edition Chevette Silhouette sales brochure to complete the history file.  This amazing survivor has all the key credentials of a very special car, limited numbers, low mileage, two owners and original.  A true part of Vauxhalls heritage.
