Finished in vibrant Vermillion Red, (Code CML), the paintwork is superb with a deep shine commensurate with the incredibly low mileage and careful storage from new. Having never been restored, welded or had replacement panels, this incredible example is unique with perfect panel gaps only found on factory original cars. The underside, wheel arch apertures and even factory seams are amazing. Superficial cosmetic refurbishment to certain suspension, chassis, bolts and brackets to uphold the show appearance have been made but do not detract from the correct factory look. The folding hood is original and fabulous in appearance along with the colour coded tonneau cover. The desirable and optional fully trimmed detachable hardtop is included and remains in excellent condition.

The engine bay is an exhibitionists dream with gleaming components. Those who enjoy tinkering with their classic car will have unrivalled access due to the huge front bonnet lifting clear and amazing parts availability and Club support. HISTORY FILE
This car has a fascinating history to warrant the tiny 11,403 miles covered. Registered new on the 1st January 1979 to a Mrs Constance Miriam Simpson by Westridge Garage, she owned the car for 15 years. The singed new car purchase invoice and letter to the DVLC by her sister, Mrs Styles in the file, reveals that she unfortunately died in a house fire. The Spitfire parked in a separate garage remained untouched and escaped the tragic fire. A few months later on the 5th July 1994 a detailed AA Vehicle Inspection Report was carried out on the vehicle whereby the examiner Mr Skilton, (MIMI), writes ‘I have found it to be in an excellent condition which suggests it was mothballed very well indeed with no hint of corrosion problems commonly expected for its age.’ The car had covered 10,113 miles at the time of the inspection. Mrs Styles decided to have the vehicle fully recommissioned and shortly after it was sold to Nissan Main Dealers, West End Motors of Bodmin who subsequently sold it to The Triumph Sports Six Club, (TSSC), for £5,500. The vehicle remained in their care and on display in their museum in Lubenham as a benchmark of originality for the model for 17 years. Since this time it has been owned by just three respected Triumph enthusiasts.

Rarely does such a pristine, low mileage Triumph Spitfire become available and this example will satisfy those seeking the best of the marque.

If regular use is intended it would be prudent to change the tyres for modern items and preserve the original set for shows. Dual circuit hydraulic brakes incorporate servo assistance with discs up front and rear drums with a pressure limiter to offer adequate stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on the 27th June 1994 by Renault Main Dealer, Brian Whiteside of Poole, this immaculate example has covered just 17,880 miles from new! Many years later, Dealer Principle Brian Whiteside himself saw the car advertised and recognised it as a vehicle his dealership has supplied from new. The car was promptly purchased to join his private collection whereby in March 2019 and due to space constraints, it was sold to Renault enthusiast, James Costello. Mr Costello has enjoyed the show scene with the car and even entered the Hagerty Festival of the Unexceptional where the car was featured in the Concours De L’ordinaire due to its amazing original condition, low mileage and provenance! The Festival of the Unexceptional ‘goodie bag’ has been kept which includes the car featured in the programme, card game, car show survival kit and event pass!

The history file consists of the Renault full book pack with all handbooks, guides, dealership literature and the service book with eight stamped entries. A cambelt and water pump change is documented in March 2019. An original Renault 19 sales brochure and two sets of Renault keys and unused original dealer fobs complete the history file. A rare surviving retro Renault in difficult to beat condition.

Bond Minicar 250 G Estate

A professionally restored and Owner’s Club known Bond Minicar 250 G Estate.

EQUIPMENT
Steel chassis, aluminium alloy and glass fibre body, quarter lights, winding windows and locking doors, double dipping Lucas headlamps, side repeaters, electrical horn, self-parking electrical wipers, curved Triplex glass, rubber glazing strips, fully opening rear door, dual purpose rear seating, sprung steering wheel, dash-mounted gear change lever, ignition warning and neutral indicator lights, electric self-starter, 90 degree steering lock, dash light. Dealer accessories; Twin wing mirrors, twin door mirrors, driving lamps.

EXTERIOR
This stunning and very late Bond Minicar 250 G Estate has been subject to a no expense spared, documented and photographic full restoration, the resulting condition being simply incredible. Bond utilised paint colours from other manufacturers and this example is finished in High Gloss Ford Shark Blue. The paint finish to the dressed alloy and fibreglass bodywork is exceptional and all panel work is remarkable. A ground up fully stripped restoration assures complete confidence. The quirky design is as delightful as it is unusual and all unique trim and fittings are excellent including the bright finish chrome which displays some light pitting. Many original features remain such as the louvred grille and original fitment badges and model designation insignia. Without question one the best remaining examples in existence, this wonderful Bond forms part of the huge ‘Microcar’ following with pride.

INTERIOR
The no-compromise approach to the exterior finish has been carried on inside the car with a fabulous full retrim to the upholstery and flooring whilst originality remained in the fascia and trim. The light grey vinyl seating covering to the front bench style and rear bench seats with matching door cards is pristine, as is the black crackle finish vinyl flooring with neat over mats. The deliciously quirky curved fascia features Bakelite switches and three spindle sprung steering wheel as well as the leather strap holding the bonnet and boot locking T-bar key. Further idiosyncrasies in the form of the dash-mounted gear change distinguish this motor car from more traditional vehicles. The versatile folding rear seats are also removable to create a rear side windowed version of the popular Ranger Van. It is fair to say this Bond is ergonomically challenged but it more than compensates in its condition and wonderful unusualness. Leather knitted back gloves (size 10) are on hand for the driver.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The original Special Twin-Cylinder Engine is fitted to this example. Specification for this top of the range Villiers Mark 4T is Two-Stroke with a Villiers S25/11 carburettor and a power output of 14.6bhp at 5500rpm. The engine compartment is cleaned and detailed to show winning standard with the engine plate intact and Sharps Commercials Ltd chassis build plate fixed to the bulkhead. The engine and gearbox were fully reconditioned, along with the clutch assembly, through the Club Spares Scheme. The manual transmission with four forward gears requires familiarisation but operates precisely as it should.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The miniature 10inch pressed steel wheels are shod in new 4.40-10 tyres to the rear and 4.00-10 single tyre to the front wheel. Bright chrome hubcaps to the rear wheels look superb. Lockheed hydraulic brakes to the front and rear wheels are archaic by modern standards but perform as they should and bring this lightweight vehicle to a safe stop.

HISTORY FILE
The Bond Minicar range was manufactured by British car manufacturer Sharps Commercials Ltd of Preston which later became Bond Cars Ltd in 1964. The Mark G was billed as the “New Line” Minicar and this 250 G Estate was the final evolution of the Minicar series. This very late example, believed to be the 18th from last Minicar, was registered new on 16th September 1966 and is well known to the official Bond Owners Club and has often featured in their monthly publication, ‘Bond Info’ magazine. The last recorded Minicar to leave Preston in November 1966 was an Estate.

MDT90D was purchased by the previous ‘Bond fanatic’ owner, Mr Robin Thompson, in 2014 whereby a professional no expense spared, documented and photographic full restoration began. There are four huge and beautifully presented photograph albums detailing every step of the meticulous restoration, carried out to a first-class standard by specialists, Mid Beds Vehicle Restoration Ltd. Furthermore, the history file documents all work undertaken. The original handbooks and workshop manuals are well thumbed but are a great element of this vehicle’s rich history. There is even a Bond Minicar sales brochure in the history file as well as a folder of receipts, specialist invoices and MOT certificates. Subject when new to lower purchase tax rates and Vehicle Excise Duty as well as being drivable on a motorcycle license, such vehicles were hugely popular in the 1950’s and 1960’s as an alternative to more expensive conventional motor cars. Tremendous fun to drive and amazing practicality with features such as the 90-degree turning circle that’s allows the car to turn within its own length! A very special and rare car and regarded by Mike and Renate of the Bond Owners Club Spares as ‘possibly the best MkG in the Club’

Peugeot 309 GE

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

An early Peugeot 309 GE with an incredible 16,437 miles from new.

EQUIPMENT
Two door mirrors, push button tailgate opening, load adjustable halogen headlamps, reversing lamps and rear fog lamps, panoramic laminated windscreen, body colour grill and decorative rear panel, inertia reel front and rear seat belts, heated rear window, interior fuel filler flap release, interior courtesy lamp, sunvisors with passenger vanity mirror, fold down rear seats, driver’s front door bin, cubby box in fascia, Philips AN232 pre-selection radio. Dealer accessories; Mud flaps, dealer branded floor mats.

EXTERIOR
This early Phase 1 Peugeot 309 GE is finished in the deliciously retro colour of Antelope Beige, (Code EDW), a colour more often seen on older models such as the 305 and 505. Having covered just 16,437 miles from new, the factory panels and paintwork are simply remarkable and all panel edges and seams are pin sharp. The lightweight panels are completely free from the usual dings and the paintwork boasts a wonderful uniform shine with only very minimal markings and touch ups. The underside is preserved incredibly well and even the exhaust still has labels intact! Factory Peugeot Saint Gobain and Triplex glass and supplying dealership number plates further uphold the originality and all lightweight trim is fully intact and damage free. A preserved early base model example now otherwise virtually extinct.

INTERIOR
This delightfully 1980’s interior is typically French with an abundance of lightweight plastics whilst offering surprising levels of comfort. A far simpler era of motoring is evident with sparse levels of equipment and a super thin steering wheel that still displays factory prominent veins, found only on the lowest mileage examples. Entirely commensurate of the 16,437 miles covered, the beige Diamond Cloth seat trim is in remarkable condition and spotlessly clean. All trims sections are in superb order with no cracks or damage, and all equipment operates perfectly including the Philips AN232 pre-selection radio. Reminiscent of a 1987 Peugeot Talbot showroom car, this certainly is no ordinary 309.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fabulous, fun and spirited, the early 309 base model cars were intended to be badged as a Talbot Arizona and as such were fitted with chain driven Simca derived engines. This particular GE model uses the 1294cc G1A four-cylinder unit developing 65bhp and 103Nm of torque to achieve a respectable top speed of 98mph and 0-62mph in 15.4 seconds. The engine bay is remarkable and displays factory stickers and plates as well as VIN inner wing stamping. Even the factory hand applied air box cover sign-off is still clearly visible! The 5-speed gearbox is light with a positive clutch action.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The simple steel wheels have had a light refurbishment and still wear the factory centre caps which are in very good order. Originality seekers will be pleased to see the factory Goodyear Grand Prix S 145 R13 tyres still fitted, which whilst retaining plenty of tread, renewal is recommended due to age. Split circuit servo-assisted brakes incorporating front discs and rear drums offer assured stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
Built at the Ryton Plant in Coventry and supplied by Peugeot Main Dealers, Tom Garner Motors of Manchester, first registration was on the 20th March 1987. The first owner, Mr Bernard Reynolds, is named on the original purchase invoice with a price paid of £5,700 less £400 part exchange allowance for his 1979 Talbot Avenger LS! Used sparingly following his retirement, Mr Reynolds kept the car for 28 years. This Peugeot was always garaged and has covered a remarkably low 16,437 miles from new with MOT certificates in the history file dating back to the very first in 1990 to verify the low mileage. All the handbooks contained in the blue Peugeot Talbot A5 folder remain with the car including the service book. In 2015 the car was purchased by a private collector whose eclectic fleet includes 20 plus cars from the 1970’s and 1980’s, all exceptionally low mileage and all humble everyday classics from yesteryear.

Clearly keen on advertising awareness, the Tom Garner Motors branding is found on the floor mats, number plates, keyring and even the original sales brochure which features their dealer stamp and would have been used by Mr Reynolds when he purchased the car almost 33 years ago! Beautifully preserved with wonderful credentials, an unmissable opportunity for the collector and avid Peugeot enthusiast, and perfect as a starter classic.
