Built at the Rheine Assembly Plant in Germany and registered new on the 8th December 1992 by Ford RS Dealer, Grays of Guilford, making this model one of the highly sought-after 2,500 large turbo homologation specials. Mr Pegg cossetted his pride and joy covering just 2,469 miles before selling the car to Kevin Rogers after 10 years in August 2002. Mr Rogers worked closely with Mark Burley, the owner of Grove Garage who confirms in a letter dated 7th March 2016 that he ‘personally serviced the car and also completed the power upgrade conversion, Ahmed Bayjoo spent several days mapping the car on the road and it was fitted with one of our first prototype rear beam setups which to this day are still manufactured and sold.’

All dealer literature, handbooks and spare keys are included with invoices neatly filed in an A4 folder. MOT certificates chronically filed and tax discs are included. The vehicle was sold to the current fourth owner Mr Simpson in April 2017 and a used vehicle invoice reveals a price paid of £55,800. This very special car with historical importance.

All this in the safe knowledge the car has been maintained exclusively and regularly by the supplying Honda main dealer. The Type-R’s close-ratio gearbox, performance clutch and helical limited slip differential permit rapid acceleration and improve traction out of corners. This car has trigger-like responsiveness.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The 17” alloy wheels have never been refurbished and have no scuffs just the minutest of markings from travelling 11,897 miles. The tyres are recommended Bridgestone Potenza 215/45 R17 replaced in 2016 with ample tread and an unused space saver is present. Huge 16” diameter ventilated front discs, 14” rear discs, high friction, anti-fade brake pads, ABS and Electronic Brake distribution gives you the assurance to explore the Type R’s electrifying performance.

HISTORY FILE
Remarkable. Supplied by Honda Marshall of Peterborough on the 1st September 1999 to Mr Charles Ellis the new car brochure reveals his hand written notes and ticks specifying the Accord Type R with manual air conditioning and a Category 1 Alarm along with some other options. His son, Gary Ellis, was instrumental in the purchase and treated his father to the number plate V22TEC when new and still included with the car. Gary was to become the only other and second owner in August 2019 after his father’s passing. The car has been serviced without fail by the supplying Honda dealer a total of 13 times during the 11,897 miles travelled. The last service was carried out in September 2019. All invoices, MOT certificates and documentation has been carefully filed leaving no doubt to the care bestowed on this iconic car. A full book pack and spare keys with Honda key fobs to both are included. The supplying dealer tax disc holder is included complete with expired discs. KGF Classic Cars were honoured to be contacted when Gary made the painful decision to sell the car his only stipulation being to find a good home for this prime example. We made that promise and a lucky new custodian will be absolutely delighted.

The service booklet is present. The car enjoyed long term ownership while in the US with the first owner, Angelika Salomen, owning the car well into the 1980’s! The current owner viewing many Mustangs and even commissioned a new build which was terminated in the early stages due to poor workmanship when eventually this example was discovered and snapped up.

A huge history file is a joy to read and thorough perusal of such would take hours. There are masses of invoices, many of which date back throughout the 1970, 80’s and 90’s. In March 2018 the car was imported to the UK whereby full DVLA registration took place.

The car is a wonderful example of an unspoilt 1966 Ford Mustang, wanting for nothing and ready to enjoy. A guaranteed wide-smile slice of Americana!

The car was ordered in July 1986 from Volkswagen Main Dealer, Lionel Smith VAG in Manchester, by the first owner, Mrs Mary Waby. The order form and deposit receipts in the history file confirm the purchase price of £7,430 with delivery specified at 7:00am on the 1st August 1986, the day the all important new ‘D’ registration came out. The previous owner even managed to track down the salesman who sold the car to Mrs Waby who recalled there being a dealership employee BBQ on the night of the 31st July whereby at midnight the sales team left the showroom to deliver many new cars, including this example, to owners driveways in order that they would wake up to a brand new ‘D’ plate car! The car is registered with four owners however in fact the first two were Mrs Waby who mistakenly re-registered the car upon changing address. Used solely as a second weekend car and stored in a heated garage, Mrs Waby sold the car in 2014 after 28 years of ownership and there have been just two further owners. There is a neatly presented history file containing many VAG main dealer and specialist invoices as well as MOT certificates dating back to 1990 to further verify the low mileage. Completing the history file is a workshop manual and a collection of period Scirocco sales brochures including a separate one for this Limited-Edition GTS model. A standard, low owner and low mileage Scirocco is a rare find indeed and the next fortunate keeper will benefit from 34 years of cherished ownership.

The beautifully clean engine bay retains all factory plates and stickers to include the two metal body number tags on the bulkhead, one fitted by the body tub manufacturer and the other fitted by Triumph. HISTORY FILE
The heritage certificate in the history file issued by the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust confirms this TR6 PI was built for the RHD, home market on the 26th March 1973 in Pimento Red with Black hood and Black trim. Date of despatch was 3rd April 1973 to the supplying dealer, A G Wilson Limited of Leeds. The heritage certificate confirms further details including factory options as well as the engine, body and chassis numbers all of which correlate and matches with the vehicle. Finally, it is confirmed that the car was registered on the 12th June 1973 to first owner Mr Cuthbert Turnbull.

Remarkably the car has had only three owners in total and covered just 57,234 miles from new. Mr Turnbull kept the car until 1979 when a newspaper advert, the cutting for which is in the history file, was taken out to advertise the car for £1,995! A sales invoice in the history file reveals that the car was sold by Central Garage in Batley to the second owner, Mr John Armitage, for £1,850 in September 1979. Mr Armitage kept the car for 36 years until in 2015 it was purchased by the third and only other keeper, Mr Charles O’Donnell, for £21,500. Since taking ownership, Mr O’Donnell who is an avid enthusiast who always wanted a TR6, has enjoyed the car immensely and maintained it to the highest order with annual service and maintenance invoices in the history file. The most recent service and maintenance at a specialist in September 2019 is supported by an invoice for £856.55. After five years of ownership Mr O’Donnell has now decided to purchase a classic Porsche 911 which has necessitated the sale of his beloved TR6. Completing the history file is the original handbook and service data card, previous V5 registration documents tracing ownership and spare sets of keys. This unspoilt example is very special and is certain to delight the next owner wanting a factory correct car.
