EXTERIOR
An instant classic the moment it rolled off the production line this limited edition Capri 280 is finished in the only exclusive colour available, Brooklands Green Metallic, (Code T7), and has a superb finish. All exterior trim items and decals are in excellent order other than a few touched in marks to the bonnet. Once owned by the Branch Secretary of the Capri Club International, the car was a concourse show winner in the 1990’s and still presents beautifully today thanks to the low mileage and warm storage conditions. All the original glass is number plate etched with Identicar. Period accessories in the form of driving lamps and Yale locks, (no longer operational), were added in the late 1980’s and in 1993 a thin coat of Waxoyl was applied to the underside at a cost of £23.50! Incredibly this is still visible today helping to preserve the car and all the factory splendour.

INTERIOR
The interior is distinguished by Recaro sports seats fully trimmed with luxurious, high quality Raven leather with Burgundy piping. Full structural integrity is clearly visible with only minor wear to the drivers bolster. The deep pile grey carpeting is plump and unworn having been protected by tailored carpet mats and the black perforated headlining is tight and clean with a hole hidden behind the passenger sunvisor. The leather covered steering wheel and gear knob are in prime condition commensurate with the low miles covered. Amazingly there are absolutely no cracks to the dash and the dials, switches and controls are brilliantly clear. All controls and gauges function including the two-speed heater fan, analogue quartz clock and electronic radio cassette player with electric aerial. The rear parcel-shelf is incredible and the boot area remains spotless. Electric windows and central locking are discreet accessories to an interior otherwise exactly true to the manufactures intentions and an 80’s icon.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The Capri 2.8i was entrusted to Fords Special Vehicle Engineering group, (SVE), who added a Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection system, an oil/water heat exchanger, viscous coupled fan and an improved radiator making this models 158 BHP capable of 130mph and 0-60mph in 7.9 seconds. The engine is smooth and quiet whilst producing an unmistakable burble through a replacement stainless exhaust. Correct factory under bonnet identification plates are intact with the ‘Brooklands’ inscription clearly visible. Exhibitionists will be proud to lift the bonnet for spectators to marvel at. The 5 speed gearbox is light and progression through the range is precise.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
This 280 Capri is fitted with the factory correct and unique 7-spoke 7X15 inch alloy wheels and have never been refurbished showing minor markings. Pirelli P6000 195/50 ZR50 tyres are fitted and the spare is still the original Pirelli Cinturato P7 tyre. The hydraulic dual-line servo-assisted brakes with ventilated front discs unique on the 2.8i stop the car quickly and in a straight line and reconditioned calipers were fitted in June 2019.

HISTORY FILE
Coveted by collectors the limited edition Capri 280 is the most difficult ‘car you promised yourself’ as only 1038 were produced to celebrate the last of a famous line. GG11595 is build number 737 and has only had four former keepers from new, all of which were passionate enthusiasts. Registered on the 26th March 1987 the car was sold to Laurie Mullett in May 1988. He was the Branch Secretary of the Capri Club International and doted on the car before selling to fellow enthusiast Robert Francis. Mr Francis writes a fascinating feature in the Capri Club International magazine in March 1993 describing the agonising search and eventual purchase from fellow club member, Laurie. The car was then the sold in the mid-nineties to Mr Keith and Sue Smith from Gomeldon Salisbury in Wiltshire who were Ford Capri fanatics owning up to four Capris at one time in the nineties, this car being their pride and joy and only using it for car shows each year up to 2016. Mr Keith Smith maintained this car himself to the highest standards servicing the car every year of ownership regardless of the miles covered, some years covering under 200 miles with annual MOT certificates to prove. A letter in the history file from Keith and Sue Smith to the last and current owner, Mr Don Birkinshaw in 2017, explains they were ‘absolutely gutted in having to sell due to ill health’ and that they ‘met lots of lovely people with it’. The car was affectionately known as Brookv. Mr Birkinshaw purchased the car from South Western Vehicle Auctions Limited for £35,084 in July 2017 and has religiously maintained the car since. A large history file with all documentation awaits the new owner with spare keys and original sales brochure.

Originality seekers will be pleased to see all factory etched glass along with both Ford supplying main dealer number plates. The underside still displays factory markings and PDI dabs soon lost on higher mileage cars. An extremely rare special edition Ford.

Matching door cards and trim pieces are fully intact and the cut pile carpet is in excellent order having been protected by genuine Ford carpet mats. Further subtle appurtenances of a special edition model include the leather clad steering wheel and sports instrument cluster with black symbols and red pointers on white dials. The leather to the steering wheel is unworn with prominent natural veins but there is a small area of lift around one of the inner spokes. Virtually showroom fresh, this preserved interior will certainly impress.

The 5-speed manual gearbox is light and easy to use and the engine performs superbly.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Standard for the Mexico Edition were a set of larger size 6x14in steel wheels with the original and unique eight-spoke Ford hubcaps which remain in good order with minimal light damage to the outer edge. All four tyres are incredibly still the factory fitted Michelin MXV2 185/60 R14 which will satisfy originality seekers but due to age replacement is advised if the car is to be used. Diagonally-split dual line servo assisted braking system with front discs and self-adjusting rear drums stop the car with assurance.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new by Main Dealer, Bridgend Ford of South Wales, this example was registered on the 17th August 1995. Produced to commemorate the success of the Ford Escort Mexico in the London to Mexico Rally the classic heritage was guaranteed but despite the sales literature claiming ‘history repeats itself after a quarter of a century’ and that ‘it’s got what it takes’, the reality was clever badge engineering. Something that Ford mastered as far back as the 1970’s with the L, GL and Ghia! The car remained local to the dealer until 2018 whereby two of the three former keepers were husband and wife, Mr and Mrs Richards. The car has covered just 9,798 miles from new and is in outstanding original condition. The history file consists of the Ford book pack and some previous invoices and MOT certificates including the supporting invoice for the service and cambelt change in October 2020. There are three Ford keys including the red master key and an original 1995 Ford Escort Mexico sales brochure. This fabulous 25-year-old survivor is sure to please anyone seeking an entry into classic Ford ownership with impressive bragging rights when you mention you own a Ford Escort Mexico!?

Never finding the time to start working on it, his brother, an experienced fabricator and Stock Car Racer, took the car on with renewed motivation. Yamaha RD500LC

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A legendary UK matching numbers Yamaha RD500LC in amazing condition.

MODEL HISTORY
Much theorising, rumourmongering and eager anticipation preceded the launch of the Yamaha RD500LC. When the factory finally unveiled what was at the time the most powerful 500cc road motorcycle ever built, it was abundantly clear and frankly astounding how similar the design was to their YZR500 race bike that racing legend Kenny Roberts took to six Grand Prix victories in 1983. In the years before the launch of the RD500LC in 1984, Yamaha were acknowledged as the trend setters in the world of high-performance two-stroke machines and the introduction of this iconic machine took this reputation to new heights.

EQUIPMENT
Liquid cooled engine with anti-friction coating, reed-valve induction, variable exhaust port-timing (YPVS), quartet of alloy-bodied carburettors, rigid box section ‘race replica’ frame and main members, low-drag race-styled faring, windshield, quartz halogen rectangular headlamp, rectangular mirrors and indicators, low fuel tank and seat positioning, single De Carbon rear suspension unit, aluminium linkage arms and swing arm, 36mm fork stanchions with 140mm travel, adjustable anti-dive braking system, electric tachometer, speedometer, coolant temperature gauge, warning lights.

EXTERIOR
Built for just two years from 1984, the RD500LC was available in just two colour schemes which were Stormy Red with either Silky White or Yamaha Black. This outstanding example in Stormy Red /Silky White, (Code GE SW/AJ SMR), looks magnificent having been subject to a very expensive and accurate repaint by the renowned Mark Cordwell in Derby along with correct decals. The original and unrestored frame and ancillaries remain in superb order with the frame number clearly visible and untampered. Genuine factory fitted and damage free YAMAHA IGE-14753 exhausts have been blasted and power coated to ensure longevity. Everything about the bike is correct down to the genuine Yamaha mirrors and Koito headlamp and the original seat and single seat converter with manual below. Purists will delight at seeing the often-missing foam foil heatshield over the exhaust as it passes diagonally underneath the seat and the lower front faring guard grate and an uncut rear guard below the number plate. All switchgear is fully intact with white lettering and all gauges and warning lights operate perfectly. Upon first ignition turn on, the Powervalve operation can be seen and heard and the oil light illuminates and distinguishes, exactly as it should. Without question one of the best RD500LC’s on the planet.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The original engine number and stock frame stampings along with speedometer in MPH confirm this as a matching numbers UK machine. The 500cc 2-stroke vee-four-cylinder engine fitted at the factory is set at 50 degrees in order to make the unit as compact and narrow as possible. Power output of 88hp at 9500rpm achieve a recorded top speed of 148mph and standing ¼ mile in 11.7 seconds (117.7mph), this really was the most powerful 500cc road motorcycle ever built! Since purchasing the bike in 2018, the previous owner commissioned a full engine strip down and rebuild by renowned expert Richard Pell, a retired motorbike racer. No expense was spared and the rebuild extended to the sourcing of genuine Yamaha parts including crank seals, piston rings and head gaskets. Furthermore, a carburettor rebuild was carried out as well as new oil delivery lines and chain. Upon strip down and accessing the engine, Richard noted that everything was original and nobody had opened the unit before and that the bores were in exceptional condition and commensurate with the mileage displayed of 12,079 miles. Photos of the stripped engine are included in the history file and the engine did not require a rebore. This example kicks into life effortlessly and performs wonderfully and the 6-speed transmission with working neutral indicator is perfect in operation. A sound and smell to bring your 1980’s bedroom poster bike to life!

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The black alloy three double spoke rims are shod in Pirelli Demon rubber front and rear. These correct specification wide pattern vee-rated tyres were fitted at the same time as the engine rebuild and are showing ample tread. The totally standard water-resistant braking system with twin discs up front and single to rear still incorporates the adjustable anti-dive system in full operation.

HISTORY FILE
This matching numbers UK Yamaha RD500LC was registered new on the 8th October 1985 by St Neots Motorcycle Company in Cambridgeshire. Remarkably the first keeper owned the bike until 2017 with the prefix C800 MEG. It was then acquired by Fastline Superbikes who registered it in their name. Just two private collectors have owned the bike since including serial bike collector, Dean Marshall. Wanting to own the best, most genuine and correct example possible, Mr Marshall has approached this quest with a no expense spared attitude and by exploiting the highest expertise in the world of two-stroke machines. His knowledge and passion for these bikes is all encompassing and awe-inspiring, and vital was the ability to not only create a show bike but one that could be ridden and enjoyed. In fact, as recently as the 22nd September this year Mr Marshall rode the bike on a 100-mile blast! In addition to the original manual are two sets of Yamaha keys with tags and a history folder containing many invoices and accounts of the bikes history and works undertaken. The pièce de résistance is the registration number B16 YPV now allocated. An iconic model in 2-stroke motorbike history, the rare opportunity to acquire this outstanding Yamaha RD500LC must not be missed.

Ford Capri RS3100

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A genuine rare Ford Capri RS3100 extensively featured and RS Club registered.

MODEL HISTORY
Just 250 RS3100 Capris were made and at launch it claimed to be the ‘fastest Ford produced in Britain’. Ford needed the RS3100 to remain competitive in the European Touring Car Championship and compete against the BMW 3.0-litre CSL Batmobile. Ford Advanced Vehicle Operations (AVO) was given the go-ahead in September 1973 to build the cars at Halewood. Racing regulations required 1000 units to be made for homologation but the launch in November 1973 coincided with the oil crisis and a steep rise in fuel prices combined with a high showroom price of £2,193.31 and the imminent arrival of the Mk2 Capri all acting as further deterrents to sales. Despite falling short of the 1000 units, racing authorities granted Group 2 homologation and of the 250 units made 50 units were exported to Australia and 23 allocated to Ford Area Sales Managers. (Source: Factory Orginal Ford Capri Mk1 by James Taylor, The AVO Owners Club & The RS Owners Club).

EQUIPMENT
Steel integral construction, safety glass all-round, black front quarter bumpers, front airdam, duck tail rear spoiler, flared front wheel arches, twin halogen headlamps, gold triple body side stripe, gold decal scheme on bonnet power bulge and rear end panel, opening rear quarter windows, tachometer, fuel, oil pressure water and ammeter gauges, push button switches, two-speed heater switch, stalk headlamp flasher and horn, passenger grab handle, cigar lighter. Fitted accessories; Chrome bullet door mirrors, RS steering wheel, Kenwood KMM-BT35 with Bluetooth and rear speakers.

EXTERIOR
This iconic Ford Capri RS3100 is finished in striking Sebring Red, (Code N), which looks incredible at any angle. With a huge Ducktail rear spoiler, full width chin spoiler and flared front wings, seventies boy-racer machismo is found in abundance and is the envy of all other Capri owners. Superbly presented and thoroughly enjoyed by the current long-term owner since commissioning C.B. Restorations in 2011, this car now has minor insignificant signs of use and can still be showcased, driven and commended in absolutely all areas. Original RS3100 features are present to include the correct German specification rear bumper with two number plates lights retaining the bright metal casings, black painted boot lid to match the boot spoiler and all and decals. An RS boot badge in lieu of the GT item and gold decals on the filler cap are at the owners preference and all glass is number plate etched. The wheel arches are spotlessly clean and the underside structurally perfect. One of a handful of survivors to be used and enjoyed.

INTERIOR
The standard Black PVC, (Code AA), individually contoured reclining front bucket seats are incredibly still original fitment and present very well with just a few loose stiches. The Black headlining unique to the RS3100 Capri, door cards and padded dash top are in remarkable condition with very few imperfections. The original black carpeting has some minor wear along with the non-protruding push button switches for the lights and wipers. The Matt Black vinyl dash houses the comprehensive instrumentation with all the distinctive red needle gauges operational and the heater fan works on both speed settings. A modern Bluetooth stereo with parcel mounted rear speakers from a bygone era are fitted. Functional, simple and very pleasing.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
AVO decided to use the Essex V6 engine as a base for the car with an increased capacity from 3.0 litres to 3.1. Racing versions were increased to as much as 3412cc and when mated to a Cosworth 24v head were capable of a reliable 415bhp! In this guise a maximum output of 148bhp is quoted to achieve a top speed of 125mph and 0-60 in 7.6 seconds. Returned to standard specification by Specialist Engines Ltd in 2016 after modifications were carried out to the original engine by Rick Wood Racing Engines in 2000, the car performs faultlessly. The serial number of the engine matches that of the car. The standard Weber 38DGAS carburettor and blue rocker covers are the more obvious standard features. Less obvious is the original body plate with the unique words ‘SPA SPECIAL’ only found on the RS3100 and factory original chassis plate remaining attached to the front inner wings with reinforcing plates. A replacement non-standard exhaust system sounds incredible. The standard four-speed manual gearbox was rebuilt by Western Transmissions in 2016 and offers reassuring changes.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The four-spoke alloy wheels are the same as those used on the earlier Capri RS2600 with a 13-inch diameter and 6 inch wide rims, all in very good condition shod in branded tyres with ample tread. Importantly the wheels have Capri written in the back. The servo assisted brakes were also carried over from the RS2600 with ventilated front discs on special front hubs and 9 inch rear drums now uprated to a dual-line system for safety.

HISTORY FILE
Three box files of history await the next lucky custodian tracking everything from star-studded film appearances and documentaries such as The Bromley Boys and Car SOS with Tim Shaw and Fuzz Townshend to magazine features and buyers guides. Putting aside the glamour and glitz and importantly for a collector and enthusiast, this car is registered with the RS Owners Club and known by Len Peirce, the Capri RS Registrar. The car has the correct prefix BBECND and was manufactured at Halewood Great Britain in November 1973. It is documented in the RS Owners Club publication, Rallye News written by Len Peirce, that only 53 Sebring Red cars were sold in the UK when new and now fewer than 107 remain across all colour variants of which just 72 are complete. Enjoyed extensively by the current long-term custodian this car has attended various events such as SPA-Classic, Goodwood, Castle Combe and was an official display vehicle at the NEC Classic Motor Show. Photos, invoices and bundles of documentation will take hours to peruse but will all help to reassure the next owner this car is the real deal and definitely the car you always promised yourself.

It is difficult to detect any aspect of this typically French sumptuous interior that cannot be described as showroom. The incredibly comfortable ‘Nebab’ velour upholstery, (Code 3J), is virtually perfect with no visible wear or markings to the seats and matching door cards. There is only some loosening to the headrest material on the driver’s seat. The interior plastics, fascia and trim are as new and items such as the steering wheel display prominent veins found only on low mileage cars. An interior that is difficult to distinguish from a 1995 showroom example!

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The original 1390cc four-cylinder petrol engine develops 80bhp and 107Nm of torque to achieve a top speed of 104mph and 0-62mph in 16 seconds. The engine bay is spotlessly clean and factory stickers and labels remain to the bonnet underside and identity plates and panel stamps are untouched. Renault servicing fully documented has been carried and all fluids are clean. The vehicle performs impeccably and the factory optional 3-speed automatic gearbox operates perfectly for very relaxed cruising.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The standard RT specification ‘Alize’ wheel stylers remain fitted and are in superb order. Collectors and originality seekers will be pleased to learn that all wheels including the unused spare are shod in the factory fitted Goodyear GT65 165/65 R13 tyres which are in good visible condition with plenty of tread. It is recommended that tyre replacement with retainment of the originals is undertaken if the car is to be put into regular use. Servo assisted dual circuit brakes bring the car to a steady and straight stop.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on the 9th November 1995 by Renault Main Distributor, Motor House of Guernsey, the car was registered as a demonstrator vehicle. In March 1996 at just four months old, the car was sourced for loyal customer, Mrs Barbara Fosh, by her local Renault dealership, Tower Garage Ltd in Essex, as detailed on the used vehicle order form for £9,995. Incredibly, the car has covered a fully verified 13,425 miles from new with Mrs Fosh who owned the car for almost 25 years! It was only upon her passing in May 2020 that ownership passed to her Daughter, Miss Sue Fosh. Subsequently sold by KGF Classic Cars to Mr Lovatt who has just part exchanged for his dream Ford.

The comprehensive service history leaves in no doubt that this wonderful Clio was the long-term owners cherished pride and joy. Despite an average of little more than 500 miles driven per annum the original service booklet contains 16 stamped entries from the same Renault main dealer (renamed Darlingtons of Theydon Bois) who supplied the car to Mrs Fosh! The most recent service along with cambelt and tensioner was carried out at 12,615 miles with invoice in the history file for £747.49. Absolutely all handbooks, manuals and dealership point of sale literature is included in the Renault document wallet and there is a further large history folder containing corresponding service invoices and MOT certificates to fully verify the genuine low mileage. Completing the history file is an original 1995 Clio range brochure. Personal inspection and drive of this example will not fail to impress and it is difficult to imagine finding a better example. This is one for the collector.

HISTORY FILE
An astonishing history. Purchased new by Mini fanatic, Patrick James Callinan, (his personalised plate remains on the vehicle from new C8 PJC), this example was registered on the 3rd May 2000. Wanting one of the final classic Mini’s before production ceased he ordered the car directly from Rover MG Main Dealer, Houtkamp B.V. in Amsterdam. At the time they offered UK buyers a saving on factory ordered RHD UK specification cars and even paid for travel and accommodation! Safe in the knowledge this car is identical to the one supplied by his local dealer and the prospect of a fun European drive home, he placed the order. Unfortunately soon after his return he passed suddenly. His partner, Teresa Doree, relays the story in writing to be included in the cars history file, that she could not bear the thought of selling the car with so many adventures planned together and it remained in her cherished care until 2016. At this time the car was sold to a car collector Mr West who continued the preservation and factory immaculate storage. A full complement of keys, tags and remotes are included. On a successful sale KGF Classic Cars will discuss options regarding servicing and MOT carried out at the buyers discretion and at no cost.
