EQUIPMENT
Galvanised body with crumple zones, side impact bars, xenon lights, headlamp cleaning system, front and side airbags, Aerodynamic Styling Package, Alcantara/Leather upholstery, Alcantara gear knob, handbrake and steering wheel, stability bar replacing rear seats, tyre mobility system replacing spare wheel, Driver Information System (DIS), Audi Concert sound system. EXTERIOR
The only Audi TT model built by Audi AG high-performance specialist subsidiary Quattro GmbH in Germany, the Quattro TT Sport or TT Club Sport as it was known in Europe was built in very limited numbers. Just 800 UK cars were produced, less than the 1000 cars originally intended, and this example is finished in Audi Phantom Black Pearl effect, (Code LZ9Y)). The paintwork looks superb with a deep gloss shine and only a few minor marks. Correct black exhaust tips and wider arch spats are unique for the TT Sport and all other trim sections are intact with Audi main dealer number plates fitted. An outstanding example of this much revered and coveted TT Coupe.

INTERIOR
The interior of this Audi TT remains in fantastic condition. The incredibly rare Comfort Sports seats were a no cost factory option for the TT Sport finished in black alcantara/leather coverings, (Code JN), all in very good order. There is slight bobbling to the alcantara steering wheel and a light scuff to the driver’s side inner sill tread plate. All controls and functions operate perfectly including the ice-cold air conditioning. Obvious weight saving measures to contribute towards to overall weight loss of 75kg is achieved by a stability bar and luggage net in place of the rear seat, and removal of the spare wheel. Inspection of the luggage area reveals an immaculate air compressor and wheel changing apparatus as well as the all-important factory options label. The discreet and unique Quattro Sport badge above the glove box acts as a subtle hint towards this very special TT’s capabilities and scarcity.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The increased power from the 1.8 turbocharged engine rising to 240bhp is the result of a different mapping profile and offers an explosive 0-60mph time of 5.7 seconds and limited top speed of 155mph. Further weight saving and weight distribution measures were achieved by the removal of the rear counterweight and relocation of the battery to the rear of the vehicle. The engine compartment is unmolested, very clean and has all stickers and plates clearly visible. The Quattro permanent four-wheel drive system mated to a precise 6-speed gearbox offers phenomenal stability and driver enjoyment.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Unique to the Quattro Sport and in superb order, the original 8J x 18 front and 8.5J x 18 rear alloys wheels remain fitted and are shod in matching premium Uniroyal Rainsport tyres of correct size 225/40 R18 and 235/40 R18 front and rear respectively. All four tyres were fitted brand new in 2018 and have covered approximately 1,200 miles only. The braking system offers assured and safe braking power with the callipers painted red as another distinguishing standard feature of the Quattro Sport. Without question the most desirable production Mk1 TT driving experience.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new on 30th September 2005 by Audi Sheffield, this totally standard example has covered just 59,390 miles from new. The history file features stamped service booklet records displaying seven stamped entries with a separate history folder containing invoices for regular servicing and maintenance. In December 2018 with approximately 1,200 miles covered since, there is a specialist invoice for £2,078.50 for a full service including the all-important Haldex oil and filter and cambelt and water pump change. In July 2020 at 59,010 miles a documented full service was carried out including fuel filter, gearbox oil and differential oil. Every MOT certificate carried out since 2009 is in the history folder to further verify the mileage and both original Audi flick keys are present. All handbooks are contained within the smart black A5 wallet with dealership point of sale literature.

All Mk1 Audi TT’s have gained huge appreciation in the world of modern classic cars but none more than the pinnacle Quattro TT Sport, more so in such unmolested and low mileage condition as this example.

Factory fitted options; MB Tex trim. Dealer options; Mercedes tailored overmats X2, wind deflector, rear speakers.

EXTERIOR
The product of a healthy obsession by the previous owner of over ten years, whose aim was to source an excellent well maintained R107 420SL, and embark on creating a nationally recognised award winner. Finished in the original colour of Signal Red, (Code 568), the paint finish is worthy of its high-profile trophy winning credentials and is virtually flawless. All panels are pin straight with no damage whatsoever, and the underside and wheel apertures have also received concours treatment being fully detailed with every nut, bolt and clip not only polished to perfection but retaining Mercedes-Benz parts only. The factory fitted Black hood and side and rear hood windows are perfect, as is the original colour coded hard top. Created to successfully win the notoriously strict MB Club Concours d’Elegance, to the extent where the car was once marked down a point due to a rainwater droplet sat on the slam panel. It is difficult to convey just how outstanding this car is.

INTERIOR
Upholstered in factory optional Black MB Leather, (Code 171), the seats are in perfect condition with no cosmetic wear and all foam and seat structure remains firm. The deep pile carpets are pristine having been protected by two seats of genuine Mercedes over mats. The fascia is perfect and all the gauges, controls and electrics operate exactly as they should and the gauge needles bright vibrant orange. Concours condition is met with concours accuracy with the 1986 dated fire extinguisher as well as the optional Becker 754 radio/cassette, fitted only to 1986/7 cars, in full working order along with the correct Hirschmann electric antenna. The boot area has the correct factory supplied toolkit as well as the original warning triangle in the plastic sheath. Originality seekers will further note the rear light clusters complete with delicate manufacturer stickers still attached. A showroom perfect interior.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The penultimate model in the R107 range is the powerful 420SL V8 with a power output quoted in the manufacturer literature of 218bhp and 330Nm of torque, enough to propel this performance machine to a maximum speed of 133mph whilst 0-60 is achieved in 9.0 seconds. The engine bay is pristine down to every nut, bolt and clip and displays an astonishing attention to detail, with every manufacturer sticker, plate and panel stamping and PDI marking intact and exactly correct. A genuine Mercedes battery is fitted and there are even the plastic numbered HT lead clips still fitted, long lost on most examples. The four-speed automatic transmission is flawless in operation. This car does not just look incredible, the driving experience is second to none with important precautionary work undertaken to include the timing chain, tensioners, water pump, oil pump, sprockets and more.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The stylish 15-hole light alloy wheels, as fitted to later models, are immaculate and five quality matching branded Michelin 205/65 R15 tyres have masses of tread, the spare wheel still having changing guide tag attached! The wheel weights are fitted externally as per factory. Another feature of this later model 420SL is the Anti-lock Braking System fitted as standard.

HISTORY FILE
This exceptional 420SL is one of the final facelift cars introduced in 1986 and was first registered on 11th June 1986 by Mercedes Main Dealer, Bradshaw Webb of Chelsea. The history file is quite simply breath-taking with the original service book containing 28 stamped entries along with the full book pack in the plastic wallet as well as all dealership literature and both genuine Mercedes roof prongs neatly stored in the pouch holder.

In 2008 the car was purchased by Mr John Boggis who was the R107 Model Register Captain of The Official Mercedes-Benz Club for seven years, only recently retiring in 2019. Both John and his 420SL are incredibly well regarded in club circles, the car having amassed an impressive collection of concours winning awards, trophies and best in show winners. John has created a colossal history folder of detailed recorded works that is split into chronological order for each year of his ownership. Perusal of such would take hours with literally hundreds of Mercedes main dealer receipts for genuine parts purchased, even down to nuts, bolts, clips, rubbers and washers. The total spend is an eye watering figure and has clearly been done for none other than the love of the car and a desire to create something as perfect as possible. Only cars that achieve the grade on condition, accuracy, history and attention to detail manage to compete successfully in the MB Club Concours d’Elegance, and the cabinet filling collection of awards and trophies speak for themselves, all included. When John learnt the car could be made available his involvement was yet again paramount and KGF Classic Cars are excited to be given the opportunity to offer this unrepeatable example to the next lucky custodian.

Years’ worth of painstaking detailing has achieved simply breath-taking results and for a car wearing largely factory paint except the front wings, it is simply incredible. Only very close scrutiny will reveal light touched in markings, utterly insignificant and barely worthy of mention. The underside is very clean and features such as the polished suspension spheres with clear part number are remarkable! Originality such as factory spot welds to the rear arches, factory fitted decals, supplying dealer fit number plates, tax disc holder and Rover Service sticker are wonderful to see! The front and rear light clusters and rear fog lamps are factory fitment with the Austin logo to the lenses. This is a very special Metro.

Highly sought-after Dunlop TD SP Elite 160/65 R315 tyres retain plenty of tread and good rubber condition. The dual line servo-assisted brakes with ventilated front discs pull the car up quickly and safely.

HISTORY FILE
A copy of the Austin Rover vehicle register in the history file confirms a build date of 13th November 1989 for what was to be possibly the luckiest and most pampered Metro there ever was to be! The car was registered new on 21st November 1989 by Rover Main Dealer, Lex Mead Stockport, to first owner, Mrs McHale. Cherished, strictly garaged and maintained regardless of cost, the car had covered just 19,000 miles when in 2009 Mrs McHale sadly passed away. Later that year, Tom Morley who is a prominent Metro Owner’s Club member and collector of British Leyland and Austin Rover cars, took up the opportunity to purchase the car. Then began what was to be a journey of many years of dedication to the car and countless winning podium positions at national shows and concours judging events. There are too many winning accolades, Best in Show awards and Pride of Ownership achievements to list, with a full set of awards in the history file. A huge achievement was when the Metro qualified and was showcased on the prestigious Meguiar’s Stand at the NEC Classic Car Show in November 2019 to feature on the Best in Show stand. Please click here to see a video of Tom being interviewed by Mike Brewer at the show.

The immaculate presented and categorised history file is every inch as meticulous as the car itself and features a huge record of the cars show history and awards along with several albums of photos including those cataloguing the detailing process. A second section holds a massive file of invoices and MOT certificates dating back to 1996 to accompany the full book pack including the service book in the Lex Mead wallet. The Meguiar’s and Autoglym show boards remain with the car ready for the next owners show attendance! With Metro’s fast becoming increasingly collectable having celebrated the 40th Anniversary in 2020, this pampered example is without question one of the best in existence and proven so!

EXTERIOR
This wonderful pre-facelift Mk1 Capri 1600 features the factory ordered Custom Plan XL Pack and is finished in its original shade of Sapphire Blue Metallic, (Code 1), a factory cost option. The colour is simply stunning and presents well with a pleasing contrast against the factory ordered black vinyl roof, still original and chrome ornamentation. All trim sections are well preserved and entirely factory correct including the non-tapered dummy side vents, wider bumper overriders, Lucas headlamps and correct FoMoCo rear lenses shared with the Mk1 Escort. Originality seekers will delight at the dealer fitted number plates and the glass which is factory Triplex fitment as verified by the date dot system with exception of the windscreen which is a Triplex. A straight and unspoilt Capri in very desirable Mk1 pre-facelift form.

INTERIOR
The interior of this super example is remarkable not only in condition but more so that it is completely original! The factory super grade vinyl seat coverings and door trim in Marquis colour scheme, (Code F A), are very well preserved and the loop pile carpeting has been protected superbly and is unworn. The dashboard and fascia are remarkable with no cracks and the wood finish to the fascia surrounding the correct two-pod instrument cluster is perfect. Observations worthy of mention include the headlining which although intact has slight discolouration to the edges.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The standard 1600cc Crossflow ‘Kent’ engine is the factory fitted unit and this car is verified as being a matching numbers example. Offering respectable capabilities, a top speed of 96mph and 0-60mph in 14 seconds is quoted. The clean engine bay displays the chassis number stamped into the nearside strut top clearly readable and factory build plate and body plate that have never been removed or painted over. Even better is the Special Vehicle Orders aluminium plate citing the Heavy-Duty suspension factory fitted to the car as specified by the first owner. The delicate bottom engine tray often lost after the first service remains fitted too. The engine runs and drives impeccably and has had a major service in February 2021. The crisp 4-speed gearbox is a delight.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Factory fitted to this XL model are the rare ‘slotted Rostyle’ wheels which according to the Capri Mk1 bible, (Factory Original Ford Capri Mk1 by James Taylor), were used by Ford sporadically and only for a brief period in the early 1970’s. Named so as they had a narrow slot between the main spokes as opposed to the far for common half-spoke, the wheels display the correct silver finish with black infills. All tyres including the spare are fitted with matching Goodyear Duragrip 165/80 R13 tyres with masses of tread. The optional servo assisted brakes with front discs and rear drums bring the car up straight and true and have been overhauled.

HISTORY FILE
Built in December 1971 at Halewood and registered new on 1st January 1972 by Ford Main Agents, H.E. Nunn & Co Limited of Ipswich, this pre-facelift Mk1 Capri was ordered new by a Mr F.H. Last. Factory options were specified along with the Custom Plan XL Pack, and as Mr Last intended to tow his holiday Caravan, he stipulated the Heavy-Duty suspension and towing pack from Ford’s Factory Special Vehicle Orders department. This was only fitted to the 3 litre Capri models. Remarkably Mr Last owned the car for over 27 years until April 1999 when it was sold to a second short term owner. Between March 2000 and December 2015, the car was owned by husband and wife, Mr and Mrs Reeve, and it was only upon her husband’s passing in 2015 that Mrs Reeve decided she would sell the car, but the stipulation was that the Capri had to go to someone who would cherish it. Capri Mk1 Owners Club member, Terry Haynes, was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to buy this unique car and it has formed part of his collection ever since, sitting alongside his early 4-speed 2.8 Injection and concours Capri Laser. An avid Capri enthusiast, his passion and knowledge of these iconic cars is very impressive.

The history file is comprehensive with the dealer document wallet housing the handbooks, dealership point of sale literature, and even original service book. A further substantial file contains service invoices, maintenance receipts, previous MOT certificates and an original sales brochure for the pre-facelift Ford Capri range. Even the factory supplied CEM stamped ignition key, P.J stamped petrol cap key and FoMoCo door key remain with the car, a delight to sticklers for detail! This iconic, unspoilt and desirable Early Capri is very special.

HISTORY FILE
This amazing example was registered new by Mazda Main Dealers, Robinsons Garage Ltd of Leicester, on the 17th September 1999. The first owner, Mrs Nicola Heatherley, owned the car for over 20 years until in 2020 she advertised the car for sale. Mr Michael Chawner, a Mazda MX-5 Owners Club member and avid enthusiast contacted her and promptly bought the car. With his vast knowledge of these iconic cars, he knew when he had found a good one! In January 2021 Mr Chawner saw a low mileage Mazda Mk1 MX-5 1.8iS being advertised here at KGF Classic Cars and knew straight away it was the exact model and colour he had coveted for years and so had to have it. The difficult decision to part with this Mk2 example was sweetened by the arrival of his Mk1 which became his tenth MX-5!

The history file consists of absolutely all handbooks, manuals and dealership point of sale literature along with three sets of keys neatly contained in the black leather Mazda wallet. The original service booklet is present and the most recent service entry was in 2020 at 18,595 miles and a documented cambelt and water pump change was carried out at same time. A further folder containing invoices and MOT certificates further document the care and attention this example has enjoyed through its life with just two owners and the 19,571 miles covered. Completing the history file is an original Mazda MX5 range brochure and price list. It is virtually impossible to find such an original, low mileage and low owner MX-5, and KGF Classic Cars are delighted to be able to present this stunning example ready for a new lucky custodian.
