The MGB Limited Edition ‘The Silver GT LE’ number 327 of 580 in beautiful condition.

MODEL HISTORY
Introduced in 1962, the MGB can be described as the worlds most successful sportscar with over half a million examples produced during its 18-year span of continuous production. Integral to the success was the two derivatives, the open top roadster and closed GT able to accommodate a family. Towards the end of the 1970’s, MG announced the end of MGB production and in 1979 commenced the build of a Limited Edition run of 1,000 cars consisting of The Silver GT LE (580 cars) and The Bronze Roadster LE (420 cars). Available only in Pewter Metallic for the GT and Bronze Metallic for the Roadster and each with special distinguishing livery, two cars (one of each derivative) were retained by the BL Heritage Collection which left the remaining 998 cars available to the dealers who fought to stock the cars and even luckier members of the public who managed to acquire one.

EXTERIOR
This pristine example is number 327 of the 580 ‘The Silver’ GT LE cars produced and has been subject to a historic nut and bolt restoration using a brand-new heritage shell. To recreate such an outstanding example today would cost an eye-watering amount of time and money and presented here is without question one of the best remaining example in existence. Finished in the correct and only colour available for the Limited-Edition GT, Pewter Metallic (Code MMD), the paintwork is exceptional having been painted by the MG Owners Club and all panels are beautifully finished and damage free. The bumpers, chrome trim and special silver livery are in excellent condition and only some light tarnishing to the bright window and drip rail trim is worthy of mention. The glass is etched with the vehicle registration as issued when new and the meticulous restoration also included painstaking removal and refurbishment on all underside components. A very collectable MG.

INTERIOR
The correct Special Limited-Edition Silver Grey trim, (Code LMH), is preserved in fantastic order. The material to the seats is fully intact and spotlessly clean and the matching black vinyl door cards are immaculate. The carpets, headlining and interior trim are in exceptional order and the original gauges and fascia controls all function perfectly with healthy readings. The luggage area is very clean and the easy folding rear bench back offers a large flat loading space, perfect for classic touring. Displayed proudly on the dashboard are the MG Limited Edition Plaque and the second plate confirming this as Car No. 327, built 29th August 1980.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The BMC B-Series engine needs no introduction and its time-tested longevity saw it fitted to all MGB’s with exception of the V8 model. This 1798cc four-cylinder OHV unit features twin SU type HIF4 carburettors and SU electric fuel pump to develop 97bhp and 142Nm of torque. A top speed of 104mph and 0-60mph in 14 seconds are respectable performance figures even today. The beautifully detailed engine bay houses the factory fitted engine with identity plate matching that of the heritage certificate along with vehicle data plates and stickers all corresponding. The four speed all-synchromesh gearbox is factory fitted with the desirable electronic overdrive and is perfect in operation.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The original cast alloys wheels are correctly finished in grey with polished out rim and spoke facings and red MG logo centre caps. There is some very light age related tarnishing visible upon close scrutiny but not to spoilt the appearance. Premium brand tyres of size 185/70 R14 have plenty of tread remaining. The servo assisted braking system incorporates 10.75in front discs and 10in rear drums to offer steady and capable straight line stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
A Heritage Certificate issued on 23rd September 2004 by the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust confirms that this example, number 327 of 500, was built on the 28-29th August 1980 and despatched from Abingdon on the 25th November 1980. The destination dealer, Herwin Canny and Company Limited of Woolwich, registered the car new on the 19th February 1981 to the first owner, Mr J Adams. The amazing and frankly colossal history file forms a crucial part of the cars story and begins with the original sales invoice issued by Herwin Canny and Company Limited to Mr Adams detailing the options specified and purchase price of £6,877.79 less £2,502.79 for his 1979 Leyland Mini! The original Passport to Service booklet is stamped by the selling dealer and the last entry is in 2020 with just 1,500 miles covered since. The car has been known to the MG Car Club MGB Register since 1988. Beautifully presented in a tailored made leather binder is a massive chronologically arranged and complete file of invoices dating right back to 1981 with even the running-in service when the car was just three months old! Thorough perusal of the file would consume countless hours and there is a vast amount of paperwork spanning the 1980’s 1990’s and in to the new millennium where in around 2004 a full nut a bolt restoration began. Photographs of the car pre-restoration show a solid and undamaged car that was just awaiting a transformation into the perfect MGB GT LE! The restoration is fully documented both in the history file and photographs and the huge spend on top of the brand-new heritage shell which was sourced and painted by the MG Owners Club, MGOC, would run into tens of thousands of pounds now, a new shell current costing around £13,000 alone! The previous owner was a MG and British Leyland enthusiast with several other classic cars in his collection including a MGR V8 and a Morris Mini Cooper 970S. A collectors quality example of the final MGBGT tribute and a true slice of MG motoring history. Not to be missed.

EXTERIOR
Finished in Clean White with the famous red Yamaha speed block motif, the appearance of this thoroughbred can only be described as stunning. The attention to detail is outstanding, with the tank and decals factory correct such as the back ground behind the four hundred zero’s are hollow (not filled in black like earlier models). The high-tensile steel tubular double-cradle frame has been sandblasted and professionally painted in gloss black with the important UK frame number 1A3-330…. clearly visible. The chrome has a mirror finish and the seat base remains the original steel item containing an owner’s manual and concealing a full Yamaha tool kit. Amazingly the original and desirable chrome exhaust system remains fitted with part numbers clearly visible with a few minor marks and the forks have been ground back and hard chromed to correct size. All instrumentation is factory fitment and in excellent condition. A street machine without equal.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The matching numbers 2-stroke torque induction engine has a 398cc displacement and produces 44bhp at 7500rpm. Featuring many advanced features at the time such as Yamahas Autolube system varying the delivery of oil linked to the throttle and precise ignition timing by utilising transistorised capacitor discharge ignition CDI. The engine and crank have been completely rebuilt and the main casings aqua blasted to restore the original finish. The 6-speed constant mesh transmission has perfectly selected ratios and a multi-plate clutch running in oil for feather light changes and a short-throw shift lever to allow quick gear changes. As the engine has been fully rebuilt, a 500 mile running in period is recommended.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The RD400F is fitted with stylish cast-alloy wheels with red detailing and are presented in fabulous undamaged condition. Matching Avon RoadRider 110/90 V18 rear and 90/90 18 front have masses of tread. Hydraulic 267mm disc brakes front and rear with single piston calipers and upgraded braided hoses are fitted. The desirable and original brake master cylinder remains fitted all of which help stop this iconic machine effectively and safely.

HISTORY FILE
This is a rare, iconic and importantly UK matching numbers Yamaha RD400F with just three owners from new. The last owner, Mr Mark Moore, purchased the bike in 2013 travelling considerable distance during a snowy winter’s day to collect it, knowing such credentials are near impossible to find and not wishing to miss out! MODEL HISTORY
The MG RV8 was bought to fruition by Rover Special Projects team, a team of 30 planners, engineers and designers based at Gaydon, Rovers test track in Warwickshire. Headed by RSP Director, Steve Schlemmer, the project was called Adder in recognition of the Anglo-American Cobra of the 60s, their objective was to recreate the MGB as it would have been had it never left production. Launched at the British Motor Show in 1992, the MG RV8 marked the welcome return of the MG sports car and the famous octagonal badge. Launched at a price of £26,500 when new with the slogan ‘The Marque has returned’, just 1,983 units were made of which 1,581 were sold to Japan.

EXTERIOR
An appealing, curvaceous, wasp-waisted style immediately recognisable to MG aficionados is finished in optional pearlescent Woodcote Green, (Code HPE) at a cost of £750 when new. A stunning deep gloss finish has been preserved by the two fastidious UK owners since the car arrived from Japan in 1998. The correct panels produced by Abbey Panels are virtually unmarked other than a tiny scratch to the nearside front wing. The original factory fitted soft top made by Tickford is pristine and the rear screen perfectly clear. The rear tonneau is present and a very well-designed bespoke wind deflector is neatly fitted and framed in matching beige leather. The famous octagonal MG badging is bright and unmarked and all chrome brightwork has a mirror finish. An enduring British motoring classic with this example being difficult to fault.

INTERIOR
Lavishly trimmed in fine Connolly Stone Beige leather, (Code SMJ), with a ruched pattern and rich in Elm Burr veneer adorning the facia panel, centre console and door cappings the interior is pure luxury. The optional and expensive Elm Burr Moto-Lita steering wheel and gear knob are fine additions to this regal interior. MG traditional sporting appeal can be seen with a full set of VDO black-on-white working instruments and chrome interior door handles, roll top lid ashtray and handbrake release button. The original MG velour mats have protected the dark Stone Beige cut pile carpets. The correct Panasonic radio cassette player with the MG logo remains fitted. A beautifully traditional interior in outstanding preserved condition.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 3.9 litre V8 is extremely flexible with large reserves of torque and 190bhp giving effortless midrange overtaking. 0-60mph is despatched in 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 135mph is quoted. The engine bay is spotlessly clean and factory original with all markings, plates and stickers present. The V8 burble through the twin exhaust pipe is intoxicating. The robust Land Rover built 77mm 5-speed gearbox changes with reassuring precision and a progressive light clutch action. Delightful.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Distinctive cast alloy 15x6J road wheels with mid grey cross spoke sections are unmarked and still retain the MG centre security caps. The Zender split rim bolts have no corrosion and matching Falken 205/65 R15 tyres have ample tread. Servo assisted ventilated front disc brakes with 4-piston callipers and rear drums do an impressive job of bringing the vehicle to a safe halt.

HISTORY FILE
The MG RV8 was always destined to become a classic with just 1,983 units made reviving a golden history and celebrating thirty years after the birth of the legendary MGB. This pampered low mileage example spent four years with its Japanese owner who purchased the car new in 1994. A Rover Group British National Type Approval Certificate of Conformity confirms the date of manufacture the 18th October 1994 and in 1998 the vehicle was repatriated with all importation documents and UK registration completed. The history file is superb with the two UK owners keeping every single MOT certificate from the very first in 1998 along with a large file of specialist invoices and receipts for servicing and maintenance work. A diary of maintenance has been kept and in 2009 there was a documented and photographed speedometer change carried out at 11,978 miles, the odometer now reading 5,109 miles. The second of the UK owners purchased the car in 2017 where is sat alongside his fully restored MGB GT LE. Both sets of keys and code tags are present along with two MG RV8 The Marque has returned’ sales brochure as well as a price list and an official MG 1930-1992 history of the Marque released when the RV8 was launched. Finally, a cherished registration M88MGR remains with the car. This stunning example is a must for anyone seeking a rare, pampered and enthusiast owned example of MG motoring history.

A clean, original and very well presented example of a rare sporting hot cabriolet with the iconic XR3i factory specification. Finished in Diamond White with a Black vinyl roof, (Code BA3), the finish is uniform throughout with a deep shine and the soft-top roof in excellent condition with no crease cracking. Not only does this model have exhilarating looks with wheel arch air deflectors, colour-coded trim, red tape stripes each side and optional Ford driving lights, but 80% of the Cabriolet bodyshell panels were either new or modified to maintain strength and eliminate rattle when new. The panels on this example boast factory fitment with date stampings clearly visible and the underside is free from excessive underseal allowing easy inspection and revealing good structural integrity and no unsightly repairs. All glass is number plate etched including the hood glass and Ford dealer plates are fitted. The Ford oval badge has some minor imperfections on the boot lid and the colour keyed hood cover is present. A prime example of a FastFord.

INTERIOR
With seating for up to five people this model remains both a fun and practical option of open-top classic motoring. The supportive sports seats trimmed with Monza and Crushed Velour fabric with Blue detail, (Code HV), are in remarkable condition and the colour keyed shark grey cut pile carpet retains a fullness with no damage or wear. Incredibly and rare for a Mk3 Escort, the dash has no visible cracks, the standard Ford SRT 32P radio/cassette works and the roof mounted digital clock functions! The sports three spoke steering wheel still has natural veins visible thanks to the low miles and all controls and all interior instrumentation, switch gear and ventilation operate correctly. The door shuts are spotlessly clean and the boot area still has factory PDI stickers attached. Truly beautiful and Ford perfection.

A delightfully crisp, responsive and free-revving 1.6 OHC (CVH) engine with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection produces 105bhp. The engine bay presentation is excellent with original factory stickers, labels and markings and would please the exhibitionist attending classic car shows. The five-speed gearbox engineered to combine vivid acceleration with fast, frugal cruising is smooth and has benefited from a recent clutch replacement.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on the 10th April 1985 by Ford main dealers, Hanger of Birmingham to a Mrs Goode, this particular sporting 1.6i Cabriolet sold for a premium £9,348, some £1,923 more than an XR3i. An A4 file of history is organised in chronological order containing invoices, MOT certificates, MOT Inspection Report and general expenditure throughout the cars life. All handbooks are included along with the original service book with early stamped history and two keys are present. The current sixth owner, Mr Broad, purchased the car in 2017 and is a fanatical collector of sporting Fords. All wheel-arch apertures are clean and the underside is free from underseal to allow easy inspection of factory originality. This example is worthy of the Honda racing heritage and one of the finest available.

INTERIOR
Twist the ignition key, then press the start button and the race car ritual begins! The Black sculptured leather sports seats are immaculate thanks to a careful entry and exit ritual by two fastidious owners. The low seating position is so that the driver has a closer proximity to the chassis which results in an accurate connection with the car, especially when driving hard. This car is an ergonomic benchmark governed by function rather than gimmicky looks with almost all of the switchgear within fingertip distance of the steering wheel so the driver does not have to take their hands off the wheel. The digital instrument pack is circular so that it follows the shape of the wheel’s rim. All controls, switches and buttons function and the aluminium-leather combination gear lever, aluminium foot pedals, beautiful leather wheel and aluminium kick plates all add to the occasion. Optional Honda S2000 carpet mats remain fitted from new protecting the carpets and the pristine boot area houses all tools, tonneau cover and packaged hard top cover.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The compact and lightweight 2.0i VTEC race bred F20C engine, mounted entirely behind the front axle to allow the S2000 to achieve a 50:50 front/rear weight distribution, is a technical marvel. At launch it had the highest specific output ever produced in a naturally aspirated engine, an incredible 120 PS per litre. A power output of 240bhp at an almost unheard of 8300rpm and 208Nm of torque at 7500rpm allows a blistering 0-62 time of 6.2 seconds and top speed 150mph. Factory stickers to the bonnet underside and immaculate engine bay as well identification plates, bulkhead chassis stamp and coloured PDI dabs confirm the absolute originality of this amazing example. The short shift 6-speed gearbox is utterly brilliant and enhances the 9000rpm redline S2000 magic!

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Factory standard 16in sports alloys are in excellent order still retaining the factory diamond cut finish and slight bronze tint. A few spokes have slight rash and brand new Honda metal centre caps have just been fitted at a cost of £185. Honda S2000 Club recommended Uniroyal RainSport 5 measuring 205/55 R16 and 225/50 R16 front and rear respectively were fitted new in 2020. The anti-lock braking system (ABS) features massive 300mm ventilated front discs and 282mm solid rear discs to offer positive and assured stopping power to cope with the epic performance.

HISTORY FILE
The Honda S2000 AP1 was manufactured up to 2003 at Honda’s Takanezawa plant, alongside the NSX and this prime example was registered new on the 6th January 2003 to Dixon Honda, the main dealer. Sold to Mr Pickersgill, the first of just two private owners, the subsequent Dixon Honda invoice reveals a price paid of £24,295 when the car had covered just 625 miles. Mr Pickersgill was fanatical even filing items such as the tag reminding the dealer that hard rubber spacers are fitted to the suspension to increase ground clearance! He also had the car serviced continually at Honda, as was the case up to 30,179 miles when the second private owner, Mr Little took ownership in 2015. A photo of Mr Little with the previous owner on purchase continues the obsessive upkeep with invoices neatly filed, every MOT certificate, old tax discs chronically mounted and even the stickers that came off the tyres retained! Mr Little would only buy genuine Honda parts, provide them to his trusted garage and wait patiently until all work was complete.

The original Honda wallet holds the vehicle handbooks and there are two sets of keys and a sales brochure. Features on the Honda S2000 are also included in the history file. Remaining exactly at Honda intended and preserved with wonderfully low mileage, this pampered example is the ultimate modern classic sports car.

This stunning flagship, and very expensive when new BMW, boasts a preserved interior commensurate with the super low mileage and cosseted ownership. The upholstery including the factory optional sports front seats are swathed in sumptuous Black Leather, (Code M5SW), which is in exceptional condition with virtually wear free leather facings and firm shapely bolsters. Full electric and memory seats can be enjoyed with the tilt function compensating for partially inoperative height adjustment. Carpets have been protected from new by BMW tailored velour over mats and the headlining is fully intact and clean. The fascia and interior trim are immaculate and the LCD displays are in perfect working order. The immaculate boot area neatly stores the original full toolkit, jack, warning triangle and unused spare wheel. The untouched first aid kit sits neatly in the compartment between the two rear buckets seats which are in pristine condition. The pinnacle of BMW design and build quality.

Fitted as a factory upgrade, the 17in Light alloy two-piece wheel in cross spoke styling are in perfect order having undergone in June 2021 a professional refurbishment at a cost of over £1,000 and to include the correct polished outer rim and brand-new rim bolts as well as brand new genuine BMW centre caps. Furthermore, matching premium brand Uniroyal tyres of size 235/45 ZR17 front and 255/40 ZR17 rear have been fitted new in June 2021. The spare wheel remains shod in the factory fitted Uniroyal Tyre. The braking and driver assistance systems incorporate anti-lock braking system (ABS) and automatic stability control + Traction (ASC+T) to offer superb stability and stopping power, however, a firm application of the brake pedal is a trait BMW E31 owners are familiar with!

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new by Main Dealer, Castle BMW of York, the car was registered new on 5th May 1995 and has enjoyed just two owners and covered a mere 28,783 miles from new. First owner, Mr Wadey, registered the car in his business name before transferring ownership to himself upon retirement. Ford Escort MK1 1300E

An unspoilt and rare Mk1 Ford Escort 1300E Campaign Model with only 7,490 miles.

MODEL HISTORY
The model’s name 1300E was born from a simple concept, a 1300cc machine with high-class accoutrements that resulted from a demand by Ford bigwigs for a luxury Escort, the ‘E’ was to stand for Executive. Ford’s specialist plant at Aveley was ailing with less than worthy profits so the development of the 1300E was the perfect opportunity to bolster its Advanced Vehicle Operations (AVO) division. Primarily based on the Escort GT specification, a 1300E started life as an Escort Sport from the Halewood Plant where it was given a slam panel data plate reading SPCL CAMPAIGN (Special Campaign) and fitted with a rectangular headlamp panel, upgraded cloth interior and painted in the specified colour. All but complete, the cars were then shipped to Aveley where an assembly facility added the 1300E extra equipment and trim. Workers who would usually be building the RS1600 and Mexico turned their hands to the 1300E which was assembled on a separate line. All pre-October 1973 1300E’s were completed at Aveley and helped to keep AVO viable, these cars being referred to as the Series One. The later cars or the Series Two were fully finished at Halewood and production finally ended on the 16th December 1974 with 6,768 two-door and 4,022 four-door cars built, according to Owner’s Club records.

EQUIPMENT

EXTERIOR
Finished in factory optional Amber Gold Metallic, (Code L), this example has covered a genuine 7,490 miles from new and is presented in outstanding unspoilt condition. The paintwork is near flawless having benefitted from a professional repaint in 2008. Photographs taken prior show the car in superb order with just some minor cosmetic deterioration from the cars long term storage. All panels are factory fitment and no structural repairs have ever been undertaken nor required. 1300E aficionados will recognise this Aveley assembled Series One by the fixed side rear windows as opposed to the openers fitted to the Series Two and the super eagle-eyed experts will note the incorrect 1300E wing badges. The correct badges for a Series One would read only 1300 but the first owner changed these as he wanted the car to be recognised unmistakably as a 1300E! Underneath the car is outstanding with the correct original slant rear shock absorbers in black to denote Ford units rather than the blue Armstrong parts as well as the black anti-roll bars and even the cardboard undertray which is long lost on most cars! All trim sections are original and in superb order with some very light tarnishing to some chrome pieces. A benchmark car for anyone wanting to recreate a factory correct Series One 1300E.

INTERIOR
A interior every inch as expected with the mere 7,490 miles covered. The ribbed cloth interior in Tan, (Code K1) is fitted as standard on the luxury 1300E and are in fantastic order. The wall-to-wall cut pile carpets, putty headlining and real wood veneer panels are all original with slight lineage to the passenger wood facia. All equipment and functions operate and the experts checklist will be ticked with correct smaller glovebox knob for earlier cars and incredibly there is even the cleverly concealed original ice scraper sat inside the centre console, long since lost or snapped on most cars! Inside the boot area is the original hessian bag with grey jack and black plastic inner light cluster protectors and lack of boot lamp, all correct for earlier cars. Even PDI tags are still affixed with string inside the boot area! Window etching to the factory glass is present along with the Triplex Hotline sticker in the rear screen. As close as you are likely to get to a 1973 showroom fresh 1300E interior.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Ford took the 1300cc Crossflow engine from the GT model which developed 72bhp and achieved 0-60mph in 13.3 seconds whilst reaching a top speed of almost 100mph. The factory fitted engine sits in a beautifully clean and unspoilt engine bay with all factory stickers, plates and labels and the original chassis stamping to the inner wing. The factory data plate reads SPCL CAMPAIGN (Special Campaign) which is correct for a Series One car. Originality even extends to the factory wing/slam panel seam welds, genuine Ford hose clips and washer bottle. The under bonnet insulation pads have been replaced. The four-speed manual gearbox is light and precise.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Five-inch sports styled road wheels are standard 1300E specification in silver fox with satin black inner sections as well as the rim embellishers, aluminium centre caps with black middle/chrome ring and the UNF chrome domed wheel nuts. Premium brand Michelin Energy tyres are fitted to all road wheel and original seekers with be delighted to learn that all five factory fitted Michelin ZX tyres in excellent condition have been retained having covered such low miles! GT-spec disc brakes were fitted to the front of the 1300E and this factory standard system feature servo assistance and even the original brake fluid reservoir cap reading ‘use FoMoCo brake fluid’.

HISTORY FILE
Built in March 1973 and registered new on the 1st August 1973, the car was supplied by Ford Main Dealers, Invicta Motors Ltd of Margate and Ramsgate. The first registered keeper was Mrs Skinner followed by her husband who owned the car until 2007. When the third owner bought the car from Mr Skinner it had covered just 3,450 miles! In 2008 a full re-paint was undertaken by professional experts, Mabel Coachworks in London. The history file is beautifully organised and presented with many photos of the car prior to the repaint proving how undamaged and rust-free it was. The history file traces all five owners in total and the large file contains the original handbook, tax disc holder from the selling dealer, invoices, previous MOT certificates, condition reports and agreed valuations. INTERIOR
Typical Porsche quality craftsmanship is found in this example and the super low mileage with just one fastidious owner has seen the interior preserved in amazing condition. The expensive cost option full leather seat facings in Midnight Blue, (Code SC), are fully intact and firm with only very light hairline crease marks to the hide on the driver’s seat outer bolster. The carpets have been protected from new by genuine Porsche carpet mats. A beautifully clean cargo area contains the untouched toolkit, cellophane kneel mat, warning triangle and original Porsche compressor. Originality seekers will note the all-important factory option label attached to the bonnet underside, Mobil 1 sticker in the engine compartment and factory stickers in the door apertures. ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fitted with the robust flat six Porsche Boxer Engine, this model develops 268bhp and 330Nm torque from the 3.6 litre unit to allow 0-60mph in just 5.4 seconds with a top speed of 168 mph! Premium quality correctly rated Pirelli P Zero Rosso tyres of size 205/55 ZR16 front and 245/45 ZR16 rear have just been fitted brand new at a Porsche main dealer. The ABS assisted braking system incorporates 4-Wheel ventilated discs with 4-piston fixed monobloc callipers. Immaculate Porsche inscribed callipers in correct silver are clearly visible through the spokes and hint towards the racing pedigree infused within this car’s genes.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on 1st August 1997 by Porsche Main Dealer, H.R. Owen of St Albans, this exceptional UK C16 example is the very last of the 993 model and therefore the very last of the air-cooled 911 prior to the launch of the all new 996. Purists widely favour the air-cooled cars and regard the 993 as the best of the models, the perfect blend of technology and traditional Porsche heritage. MODEL HISTORY
The Limited-Edition Mazda MX-5 Berkeley was introduced right at the very end of the production of the original Mk1 or NA Series of MX-5 and prior to the launch of the Mk2/NB Series. Available to the UK market exclusively and with just 400 limited edition cars produced, the model was a marketing collaboration with The Berkeley Hotel in Knightsbridge, London. All cars were finished in Sparkle Green metallic paint and the list price was £17,600 with little chance of a discount! Indeed, Mazda ran a competition whereby a weekend for two to stay at the famous Central London hotel could be won and the marketing literature featured a tear off competition entry slip to be posted off by eager entrants!

Supplied new by Mazda Main Dealer, John Wilkins Cars of Cheltenham, the car was registered on the 30th April 1998 making it one of the last Mk1 or NA Series MX-5’s. The first keeper was a Mr Rackley who owned the car for 17 months at which point the second owner, Mr Simms, purchased the car. Mr Simms was an avid MX-5 enthusiast who recognised the importance of this very special car and knew that preserving such a low mileage example was going to result in a true modern classic in years to come, and of course he was absolutely correct! Lotus Elise S1 50th Anniversary

MODEL HISTORY
Manufacturers love to celebrate their birthdays and the 50th Anniversary Elise came to market early in 1999 to commemorate Lotus Cars Limited’s half century. Exclusivity was key as just 50 were built, with all examples finished in metallic Anniversary green with Gold Leaf wheels and a green/brown leather interior. Lotus’ iconic Golf Leaf colour scheme is further seen in the decals including a small 50th Anniversary motif placed above the twin exhaust pipes. A certificate of authenticity was presented with each car and only a fraction of the total 50 cars made survive.

As a 50th Anniversary special edition, this sports car was available in its distinctive Anniversary Green Metallic and Gold Leaf colour scheme, (Code B37). With just two fastidious Lotus enthusiast owners, the first having owned it until 2019, and 4,908 road miles from new, this cars condition is stunning. A deep bright shine boasts first paint credentials with only a few very light markings visible upon very close scrutiny. The green epoxy resin used to bond the aluminium at factory is still bright and the V.I.N. stamped in the chassis to the offside rear wheel arch area is clearly visible. Even the fragile underside blue jacking stickers still being attached! The Gold leaf decals including the unique rear 50th Anniversary motif are as new. Wheel arch apertures and the flat underside to aid aerodynamics are extremely clean and the green material hood and colour matched hard top are in superb order. This is a highly collectable Lotus Elise.

INTERIOR
Engineering excellence is built into the interior with the aim to save weight and provide ultimate driver focused enjoyment. Exclusivity with the unique green/brown leather sports seats add to the occasion and 50th Anniversary enhancements such as the Lotus/Nardi steering wheel and green Elise carpet mats are super clean and unworn. The wide inner-sills are protected by a leather/cloth kneel pads and unlike most, are unworn with just one small scratch to the driver’s side thanks to the owner’s careful entry and exit technique! Supplied new by Lotus Main Dealer, St. Peter Port Garages Ltd in Guernsey, the first owner was Mr Rushton to whom the original sales invoice in the history file for £21,235 is made out to. Furthermore, a Certificate of Authenticity made out to Mr Rushton dated 19th January and baring the vehicle’s chassis number confirms ‘This car is one of a limited edition of 50 Lotus Elises to celebrate the anniversary of Lotus cars. Mr Rushton owned this example for over 20 years until in January 2020 the car came to the UK mainland and DVLA registered on highly prized cherished number. The exceptionally low 4,908 mileage is fully verified and despite the minimal usage there is a comprehensive history file and maintenance log containing invoices and specialist receipts including those for two cambelt changes.
