Skoda Felicia Fun Pickup

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A Lifestyle Edition of 612 UK Skoda Felicia Fun Pickups with only 17,301 miles.

MODEL HISTORY
Released as a limited-edition Lifestyle Vehicle in 1997 and produced until 2001, the Skoda Felicia Fun was a huge departure from the marques usual staid and sensible family vehicles. Built at the Skoda factory in Vrchlabí, Czech Republic, the intention was to produce just 300 units for the UK market. As much as a surprise that Skoda produced the car in the first place was that the car was very well received in the UK market despite the vehicles design somewhat ill-suited to UK climate. In total 612 cars were sold into the UK. All cars were factory finished in Yellow Fun paint and featured the ingenious sliding rear bulkhead to reveal 2 folding rear seats which were exposed to the elements. UK buyers thankfully were offered respite from the poor weather with a number of factory optional additional roof combinations. Most cars came with a darker yellow body kit, bumpers and trim and in some rare instances buyers were able to choose this body kit colour scheme in orange or green.

EQUIPMENT
Type 796 pick-up body with 2+2 seat configuration, sliding rear bulkhead to reveal 2 folding rear seats, full body kit with integral bull bar, large bumpers, roof rails, roll-over bar, unique Yellow Fun paintwork to body, contrasting dark yellow body kit paint, Frog Prince C-pillar and rear door decals, Yellow leather/cloth upholstery with Frog Prince logo, rear storage lockers, wooden load bed protector slats. Dealer options; Truckman Aerotop SL with side windows, mud flaps, tailored floor mats with Frog Prince logo, interior wood fascia pack.

EXTERIOR
This amazing limited-edition vehicle from Skoda is finished in factory original Yellow Fun, (Code L651), with contrasting dark yellow bumpers and body kit. Having covered just 17,267 miles from new and been in the ownership of a fastidious Skoda Owners Club member and former Skoda employee, the vehicle is simply outstanding. The paintwork boasts a bright polished shine throughout. All panels are pin straight and free from damage as are the unique trim sections, body kit and quirky Frog Prince decals. Supplying dealer number plates remain with the car. The factory optional and very sought-after Truckman Aerotop SL with side windows is fully intact and easy to manoeuvre on and off the vehicle. This idiosyncratic dare to be different Skoda is guaranteed to live up to its name.

INTERIOR
Absolutely fabulous in every respect is this wonderfully peculiar interior upholstered with factory Yellow leather and cloth with Frog Prince logo, reputedly inspired by the Frog Prince fairy tale and a reference to Volkswagen’s partnership with Skoda. Having covered just 17,267 miles from new, the seats are in amazing preserved condition. The matching door cards are as new and the often-discoloured yellow leather to the steering wheel, gear knob, handbrake lever and gaiter remain super-bright. Incredibly, the first owner had the foresight to retain the original floor mats with Frog Prince logo unused and still in the cellophane covering! Standard carpets with a yellow beading protect the carpets front and rear instead. The clever and effortless system of folding and unfolding the perfect rear seats allows this full adult four-seater to be enjoyed whilst retaining plenty of load space storage for whichever adrenaline sports activity you have chosen for the day. The rear seats have three factory seat belts. All equipment operates perfectly including the original Grundig MS201 Skoda branded stereo. Weird and truly wonderous!

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fitted with the time proven 1.6MPI four-cylinder engine with a power output of 73bhp, the fun never stops with a top speed of 101mph and 0-60mph in 12.5 seconds. A spotless clean engine bay features factory stickers and plates clear to see as well as fragile paper labels lost on most higher mileage examples. The five-speed gearbox is light and robust.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The unique seven-spoke alloy wheels are unrestored and in fantastic condition with only faint markings visible upon close scrutiny. For originality purposes the factory Michelin MX80 165/80 R13 tyres remain fitted all round thanks to being stored off the car since new. Dual circuit servo-assisted brakes with 236mm front discs and rear drums offer ample stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new by Skoda Auto Main Dealer, Tran’s City Car Centre Ltd of Walthamstow, this example was registered new on the 2nd June 1999 and has covered a mere 17,301 miles from new. Purchased in 2002 by the previous owner, Mr Briars, who is a former Skoda employee and was a prominent member of the Skoda Owner’s Club GB. The owner of an eclectic collection of various classic cars of which Skoda’s were the majority, this Fun remained in his ownership for 20 years and the preserved condition is quite incredible. Attending various shows and even used in a publicity photoshoot for Playboy this car is not for the fainthearted! Virtually impossible to source items include a brand-new unopened set of floor mats with Frog Prince logo and an original Skoda Felicia Fun Brochure. The full book pack includes the additional Felicia Fun handbook and there are two sets of keys. In July 2022 at 17,301 miles a cambelt change and service was carried out.

An amazing preserved example of this strange limited-edition Skoda.

All controls and gauges function including the ESRT 32PS stereo cassette and electric aerial. The rear seats have never been sat in and nothing has been placed in the time warp boot area. Albert removed the rubber strap holding the jack in place when new to avoid stretching and splitting it over time and placed it neatly beside instead! It really does not get better.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The Capri 2.8 Injection was the first offering of the new Special Vehicle Engineering (SVE) operation that had recently been set up in Dunton, Essex. SVE added a Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection system, an oil/water heat exchanger, viscous coupled fan and an improved radiator making the 158 BHP capable of 130mph and 0-60mph in 7.9 seconds. The fantastic engine bay is fastidiously standard with Motorcraft service items, factory plates and stickers and Ford wing stampings clear to see. Albert attached soft white felt on the bonnet strike points so as not to scratch the paint work!

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The factory 7-spoke alloy wheels are unmarked with correct Ford badged centre caps and factory external weights. A collectable and highly prized full set of five Goodyear Eagle NCT 60 tyres have remained on the car since new with the spare wheel completely virgin with coloured banding to the tyres! Albert elevated the car during storage to avoid flat spots on the tyres. The hydraulic dual-line servo-assisted brakes with ventilated front discs unique on the 2.8 Special are shiny clean with no wear.

HISTORY FILE
Built in June 1986 at the Saarlouis Plant in Germany, and supplied new to Albert William Clarkson by Ford Main Dealer, South Essex Motors, (SEM of Basildon Essex). The new vehicle invoice reveals a price paid of £7,698 and a further £77.92 for all the unused accessories still in original packaging. Albert secured this price through the employee Own-a-Ford purchase scheme thanks to his father working for Ford at the time, a hefty discount on the £11,002 list price! Annoyed with the dealer on collection as the car had covered 68 miles, we know this as he reset the tripmeter at new car handover! His intention was to preserve the car and not drive it, he had a glorious Mk2 Ford Cortina 1600E for the shows and a Ford Escort daily at the time, now a Focus! The dedication to keep the car as new was unrivalled. Perfect temperature and moisture controlled environment, keeping the car elevated to avoid damaging the tyres and even taking the car for the occasional MOT on his trailer!

All purchase literature, handbooks, old MOT certificates and SORN documents have been kept. A full complement of spare keys are included. Albert was even contacted by his insurer Adrian Flux to see if they could run a feature on his miracle Capri that’s never felt the rain. Read all about it HERE. An unrepeatable opportunity.

First owner, Mr Baines, owned the bike until 1997 when at just 617 miles he sold it to Paul Smart Ltd. Paul Smart was a legendary TT and Circuit Racer who owned said dealership in Paddock Wood, Kent and such was his fame that Ducati made a replica of his race bike. Tragically Mr Smart was killed in a road traffic collision in 2021. The second owner, Mr Lancaster, spotted the Zephyr 1100 whilst riding past the dealership on his Zephyr 550. ‘A dream machine’ was how he described the bike, (to his friend to whom he later sold the bike to), and he immediately paid a deposit. In 2019 having given up riding, he sold the bike to his friend, Mr Mace, to whom he was Apprentice Master in the early 1990’s at the Motorcycle Division of the Roads Policing Unit. Now a Roads Policing Unit Development Officer and Tactical Operations Command Rider, Mr Mace owns an amazing and eclectic collection of motorcycles all detailed, prepared and maintained to an incredible level in his mini-museum.

The history file comprises of an original owner’s manual and service book, many previous MOT certificates dating back to the mid 1990’s and invoices for servicing and maintenance. The most recent service was carried out in May 2022 and the carburettors were subject to a full rebuild in July 2022 at a cost of almost £600. Completing the history file are two sets of keys and an original Kawasaki Zephyr 1100 sales brochure. Exceptional in every respect.

A new vehicle sales invoice made out to first owner, Mr Elliott, illustrates a purchase price of £3,545. Here began a pampered existence that has led the car to be the outstanding survivor you see today! Exactly a year to the day after first registration, ownership was transferred to Mr Elliott’s wife Gladys who owned the car for a further 28 years! The car was used very sparingly until 2006 when Mrs Elliott ceased driving and the car was retired to the garage. In 2012 the car was purchased by a private collector and club member, Mr Pearson, after the family of the owner offered the car to the Simca Talbot Club wanting it to go to a good home. The Samba joined Mr Pearson’s eclectic fleet of 20 plus cars from the 1970’s and 1980’s, all exceptionally low mileage and all humble everyday classics from yesteryear. A letter in the history file from Mrs Elliott to Mr Pearson thanks him for a surprise parcel she received which turned out to be a calendar of the car that he had had made. Photographs in the history file show Mrs Elliott with the car and even her home in Surrey with the garage it was kept in. Upon purchasing the vehicle, the previous owner sent the car for extensive recommissioning work to ensure optimum running with supporting invoice for £598.27 and at which point the mileage was 16,826 miles. Massey Ferguson 20B

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A delightful Massey Ferguson 20B Tractor with 629 hours and traceable history.

MODEL HISTORY
Founded in 1847 in Ontario, Canada by Daniel Massey, it was not until 1953 that the then named Massey-Harris merged with The Ferguson Company, founded by Harry Ferguson to become Massey-Harris Ferguson. The name was simplified in 1958 to Massey Ferguson to which it remains known today. Widely regarded to have revolutionised agriculture in the western world in the 20th century, it was the collaboration with and subsequent buy-out of Frank Perkins Ltd that later produced the Massey Ferguson 20B Model. This model, first introduced in 1973, was powered by the Perkins AD3.152 three-cylinder diesel unit, an engineering legend in its own right and used around the world in many different applications.

EQUIPMENT
Quick-detaching noise level reducing cab, detachable roof panel, streamlined fenders, forward hinged lockable fully glazed stay-open doors, detachable nose weights, hydraulic system with MF quadrant, 3.66gal/min pump, swinging drawbar option, auto hitch, 3-point linkage with chain stabilisers, interchangeable ball-ends, foot and hand throttle, quick-detach radiator grille, windscreen wiper, opening front and rear windows, twin roof beacons, full lighting set, twin rear view mirrors, sliding spring suspension seat, 12V power socket, hazard warning lamps, twin side lockers.

EXTERIOR
This wonderful 1980 Model 20B is finished in the factory colour of Massey Ferguson Industrial Yellow, (Code P-46), exactly as it was supplied when new to a Leicester based house building firm. Having enjoyed only light duties and very low 629 hours recorded usage, the structure, body panels and fittings are undamaged. The second owner would attend local Fetes and village shows and enjoyed cosmetic upkeep to keep the tractor bright and draw the crowds but close scrutiny reveals a less than professional finish with hand painted areas. The badges and decals are still fitted and all lights and beacons are intact and fully operational. This is the tractor everybody drew as a child, and now the life size version is available to the child at heart!

INTERIOR
Simplistic and functional, the interior is in good order with exposed mechanical components and floor sections bright and clean. The original black vinyl seat proudly wears the MF emblem and has two small seam slits. All functions, lights and controls operate perfectly including the hand throttle and hydraulic equipment. All dials and gauges provide healthy readings and the foot operated pedals have no wear due to the low usage. The factory Massey-Ferguson of Coventry England data plate confirms the model and serial numbers. A clean, unspoilt and utilitarian cab, a far cry from a hard life on the farm!

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Needing little introduction is the world-famous Perkins diesel engine from Frank Perkins Ltd of Peterborough, just a stones throw away from KGF Classic Cars headquarters. The three-cylinder AD3.152 unit fitted to this model produces 45hp at 2250rpm and 123lb ft of torque at 1300rpm. The easily accessible engine is clean and displays factory castings and Perkins Engines plate. The 8 forward and 2 reverse gears in high/low range operate perfectly. An instantly recognisable drum from the Perkins unit sounds characteristically bulletproof and is simply delightful.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The cast steel wheels are painted to match the body and the 6.00-16 front and 13.6-28 rear tyres have plenty of life left, the front tyres even still have the maker’s chalk markings! The outboard drum brakes operate to the large rear wheels only and via a dual brake pedal which can operate independently or locked together.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on 1st January 1980, the V5 registration document reveals the first owner as WM Davis & Co (Leicester) Ltd who are house builders still in business today and still at the same address. The tractor remained in the firms ownership for 22 years and used only for light duties on site having logged a mere 629 hours! In 2002 it was purchased by Mr Harry Cook, who was a lifelong firm employee and who upon retirement, was offered the chance to buy the tractor! Being a hands-on practical type with a fondness of classic tractors, Mr Cook owned this delightful example personally for 17 years. Tinkering, driving, exhibiting and maintaining during his memorable ownership until his passing in 2019 at which point ownership transferred to his son, Gary Cook.

A service has been carried out in June 2022 and the tractor is UK registered, road legal and eligible for tax and MOT exemption. This tractor can even be driven on a standard driving licence! The history file contains the current and previous V5 registration documents listing all owners along with Massey Ferguson publications and sales literature. Guaranteed to delight the nostalgic agricultural worker, or simply the classic car enthusiast appreciative of all things drivable!

HISTORY FILE
Built at Fords Advanced Vehicle Operations factory in Aveley in June 1973, this vehicle was first registered on the 9th August 1973 to Ronald Mardle of Bexleyheath. Registered with the AVO Club the vehicle was purchased by the current owner, Brian Jaggs, in October 2001 on early retirement. Mr Jaggs started road rallying in the 1970’s, initially as a Driver but his true passion was as a Co-Driver and this Mexico was purchased as a project being prepared for Concours, unfinished and in the incorrect colour of Diamond White. Work commenced on the rally conversion immediately and it was ready in 2002. Driven hard at a wide variety of events for the next 10 years including historic Road Rallies, National Road Rallies and Targa Rallies it was necessary to embark on extensive works to keep the car competitive and Classic & Retro Automotive Works were commissioned in 2015 to restore the car with substantial input from Mr Jaggs. Witnessing the eye watering invoices, fabulous show condition and effort needed, Mr Jaggs could not bring himself to compete in the car once complete so the difficult decision to sell was made. Representing a fantastic opportunity for a new owner to benefit from a phenomenal build with an iconic and genuine historical Mexico!

HISTORY FILE
A total of just 1,154 RS1600s were made, (Source: Factory-original Sporting Mk1 Escorts by Dan Williamson), with most being extensively raced and rallied and some of those remaining having been re-shelled, this car is an amazing find with provenance and rarely available on the open market. Built at Fords Advanced Vehicle Operations factory in Aveley in February 1972, this AVO Club Registered example has a fully traceable ownership record. With just three former keepers from new, one of which being the AVO RS1600 Registrar himself, William Arnold for 10 years! Mr Arnolds passion, knowledge and whereabouts of each of the 489 Club registered cars is unrivalled and he provides a detailed account of this car in writing dated June 2022 to KGF Classic Cars. He vividly recalls buying the car from the first registered owner, Mr Bartram, who ran a motor repair business in Tamworth and continues to accurately account of everything from a minor incident with a Mini Cooper when the car was just one year old resulting in the OSR quarter panel being replaced to it being displayed unrestored at National Day. Photos of the car exist prior to the restoration kindly provided and included in the history file by Mr Arnold himself and the car was entrusted by industry experts ASM Restorations in 2012. Mr Arnold concludes in his detailed account, ‘the car has full traceable history and retains it’s original chassis plates, engine and in fact virtually all it’s original components and trim. That in itself is quite a rarity these days.’ What better testament exists for one of the rarest most valuable sporting RS Escorts?
