Finished in factory original and stunning Nurburgring Blue Metallic, (Code B513M), the paintwork boasts an amazing finish and looks simply incredible. Garaged stored and strict dry weather use only by the two enthusiast owners from new, this example has led the ultimate pampered existence and covered a mere 22,552 miles. All lightweight panels are beautifully straight with only a few miniscule frontal stone chips carefully touched in. The GT hard top comes complete with genuine Honda stand and bag and has a few minor storage marks. The original blue hood, only available at the time on Nurburgring Blue cars, is in pristine condition which has the improved heated glass screen as fitted to post 2002 AP1’s. The folding tonneau cover is also present. The HID headlights are clear with no discoloration and the underside is very clean and factory perfect. Honda supplying main dealer number plates remain fitted. One of the finest examples of this iconic Honda sports car.

INTERIOR
Twist the ignition key, then press the start button and the race car ritual begins! The desirable Black sculptured leather sports seats, (Code A), are spotlessly clean and set low so the driver is in close proximity to the chassis for perfect driver feel. This car is an ergonomic benchmark governed by function rather than gimmicky looks with almost all of the switchgear within fingertip distance of the steering wheel so the driver does not have to take their hands off the wheel. The driver’s seat lower bolster is slightly distorted. All digital instrument displays, functions and controls operate seamlessly including the ice-cold climate control and original Honda sound system. The pristine boot area houses all tools. A real departure in automotive cabin design.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The compact and lightweight 2.0i VTEC race bred F20C engine, mounted entirely behind the front axle to allow the S2000 to achieve a 50:50 front/rear weight distribution, is a technical marvel. At launch it had the highest specific output ever produced in a naturally aspirated engine, an incredible 120 PS per litre. A power output of 240bhp at an almost unheard of 8300rpm and 208Nm of torque at 7500rpm allows a blistering 0-62 time of 6.2 seconds and top speed 150mph. Factory stickers to the bonnet underside and an immaculate engine bay even down to the bright red crackle finish rocker cover with none of the usual flaking! Identification plates, bulkhead chassis stamp and coloured PDI dabs confirm the absolute originality of this amazing example and definitely one for the show goer! The short shift 6-speed gearbox is utterly brilliant and enhances the maximum 9000rpm redline S2000 magic, prior to this being reduced to 8200rpm in the AP2 cars. Magic!

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Factory standard 16in sports alloys are in excellent order still retaining the factory diamond cut bronze tint finish. Branded Hankook tyres measuring 205/55 R16 and 225/50 R16 front and rear respectively have masses of tread remaining having been replaced in 2023 with less than 1,000 miles use. The space saving spare wheel has never left the boot. The anti-lock braking system (ABS) features massive 300mm ventilated front discs and 282mm solid rear discs to offer positive and assured stopping power to cope with the epic performance.

HISTORY FILE
The Honda S2000 AP1 was manufactured up to 2003 at Honda’s Takanezawa plant, alongside the NSX and this prime UK example was registered new on the 22nd September 2003 by Main Dealer, Johnsons Honda in Milton Keynes. The car has covered a fully verified 22,552 miles from new with comprehensive service history in the hands of just two owners, the first Mrs Widdick for 19 years. The original black Honda wallet holds all vehicle handbooks, guides and dealership point of sale literature and the service booklet contains 17 stamped entries, 13 of which from the Honda main dealer. The most recent specialist major service was in 2023 at 20,607 miles which incorporated subframe bolts check and timing chain stretch check with no issues detected. The invoice for this service for £728 is in the history file but is not stamped in the book.

The beautifully presented history file contains corresponding Honda main dealer and specialist service invoices, maintenance receipts and MOT records. Completing the history file is an original S2000 sales brochure and both sets of keys with remote fobs. Remaining precisely at Honda intended and preserved with wonderfully low mileage and full service history, this pampered example is a must for everyone wanting a iconic and fast-appreciating modern classic.

In 2003, Mrs Berry ceased to drive the vehicle and thankfully had the foresight to ensure the car was stored in her dry, well-ventilated garage where it remained until July 2024. Mrs Berry’s son contacted KGF Classic Cars to discuss the sale of this family owned and ultra-low mileage classic and arrangement were made to inspect the car with a view to recover it. Immediately upon inspection, it was very apparent just how preserved and original the car was after 21 years of perfect storage. During the process of full recommissioning including major service, fuel system and ignition service, brake overhaul, cambelt and water pump, the car was found to have never been subject to structural repair work and still wore its factory fitted panels and original tyres!

HISTORY FILE
This RS2000 Custom was manufactured in July 1979 and first registered on the 1st August 1979 to Mr Paul Roadknight. Mr Roadknight ordered his dream car from his local RS Ford Dealer, Bristol Street Motors in Birmingham. After many years of hard work and saving he took the plunge and haggled a deal for £4,294.18 which represented a discount of £347.22 and a further saving of £135.01 by deleting the alloy wheels, later reinstated! The car was used sparingly for the first five years as evidenced by the MOT history until an incident caused him to park the car up in his garage for 36 years and never use it again. On a visit to his local shops, Mr Roadknight noticed three men surrounding his car so quickly returned to his pride and joy to drive home only to notice he was being followed. Having made a long detour, he eventually returned home, parked the car in the garage and paranoid about it being stolen, tragically never used it again. Discovered by an RS Owners Club Member in 2021, (photos exist in the history file of the discovery with it covered in dust), with one of the photos including Mr Roadknight now in his eighties. The car has now been fully recommissioned and on its first outing at the 2023 Lakes Tour, won Car of the Tour! Documentation with the car includes the original Registration Document, order form, new vehicle Invoice, Cadulac guarantee certificate, service book, handbooks, radio instructions and old MOT certificates. More recently, a letter from the owners friend and invoices relating to the recommission. Representing a rare opportunity to own an original low mileage and highly collectable sporting Ford.

The car was owned by Mr Thomas until April 2024 when ownership passed to family member, Mr Bladon.

All handbooks, guides and service book are held in the leather document wallet and there is a separate file of invoices and MOT records as well as both remote fobs and keys. A full service, inspection, cambelt and water pump and brake overhaul were carried out in June 2024. With earlier Freelander’s becoming highly sought after, this low mileage and low owner cherished example is not to be missed.
