Mk1 Volkswagen Golf GTi

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A legendary Mk1 Volkswagen Golf GTi with a massive history and only 69,499 miles.

EQUIPMENT
Radiator grille with red ornamental surround and GTi inscription, front spoiler, air blade on driver’s wiper, black side stripes, wider black wheel arches, black surround on rear window, laminated windscreen, internal door mirror adjustment, intermittent wash/wipe, cigar lighter, front door pockets, sports steering wheel, golf ball gear knob, on-board computer, fuel economy gauge, twin tone horn, rev counter, trip mileage recorder.

EXTERIOR
Described by many as the ultimate hatchback this standard MK1 VW Golf GTi is finished in the classic factory Mars Red, (Code LA3A), and maintains a deep uniform shine. The body trim, rubbers, side decals, badges and light lenses are remarkably preserved and sharp. There is a small mark to the nearside front plastic wheel arch trim and bumper barely worthy of a mention. The factory glass has the registration number etched on it and the car still has the original dealer number plates and rear screen sticker. The iconic front grille with the red surround and GTi inscription is free from damage and the square and boxy hot hatch styling from the ’80s is unmissable. Being a non-sunroof model this is a desirable show stopper and a true icon delight.

INTERIOR
Simple, sparse and functional but very special with the fully reclining front sports seats finished in the red/orange/black stripe in splendid condition. All carpeting has been protected by genuine VW rubber floor mats from new and the door cards, black leatherette headlining and dash trim is in excellent condition. The iconic golf ball gear knob, four spoke sports steering wheel and classic clear instrumentation all add to the tingle of excitement. The on-board computer functions on all settings and the fuel economy gauge does not read. Door and boot apertures are incredibly clean and even the tyre pressure and fuel sticker remain attached to the driver’s side and the boot caution sticker to the tailgate is also attached. The boot area is pristine with the protection mat untorn the identification sticker on the boot cross member clear to see. Stunning.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
This cult-setting car is in excellent mechanical order and really boasts what early GTi ownership should be about – tremendous fun! The 1780cc engine produces 112bhp at 5800rpm enough to sprint to 60mph in 8.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 114mph. It really drives perfectly with a distinctive, addictive exhaust note. The engine bay is beautifully original and spotlessly clean with the delicate bulkhead plastic intact with no cracks, Danger sticker to the bonnet underside attached and VIN plate secure to the slam panel. The 5 speed sports gearbox is precise and a joy to use. This hot hatch is exactly how the manufacturer intended.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
This superb Golf GTi is fitted with unmarked Tarantula alloy wheels with clear stampings visible and shod in premium Pirelli Cinturato P4 tyres measuring 175/70 R13 tyres all round with ample tread. Fitted with the large servo-assisted diagonally divided dual-circuit braking system with ventilated discs up front and drums at rear, they do an adequate job of stopping the car but fall short of modern braking systems.

Finished in shiny Silky Silver Metallic, (Code Z2S), the flawless finish is commensurate with the mileage covered by an average car in the space of just a month! Even factory labels to the underneath of the door mirrors have survived, usually gone after the first few washes! This is an exceptional collectors example.

INTERIOR
An interior which can justifiably be described as brand new! The snazzy cloth seat trim fabric, (Code GR), is in perfect condition with no wear whatsoever, as are the door cards, carpets and headlining. The first and only owner specified optional seat covers which have never been fitted and remain in the plastic packaging! The high driving position of this lifestyle vehicle will suit the tastes of those used to SUV’s but with pure fun of driving replacing the bulkiness of many a car today. This interior is simply astonishing in every respect.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Welcome to the experience of driving a virtually new Suzuki Jimny! The chain driven M13A DOHC displaces 1328cc and produces 80.5bhp and 110Nm of torque. The switchable Drive-Action four-wheel drive system together with short wheel base, chunky tyres and 190mm ground clearance make this a formidable off-roader willing to embarrass many a SUV of far more cost, not that this example has seen as much as a puddle! The engine bay is spotlessly clean with factory plates, PDI dabs and stickers all present and undamaged. The sturdy 5-speed manual gearbox provides light and precise gear changes.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
This exceptional Jimny has factory fitted 15” steel wheels which are unrestored and in near perfect order with only a few minuscule markings carefully touched in. To the delight of those seeking total originality, the factory fitted Bridgestone Dueller H/T 205/70 R15 tyres remain fitted all round including the full-size spare which is unused and still displaying colour banding and tyre nobbles. KGF Classic Cars recommend replacement of the tyres on age grounds if the car is to be used. The servo assisted braking system is factory standard and with just 979 miles usage the discs, callipers and back plates and rear drums are super clean.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new by Main Dealer, Lincoln Suzuki, the car was registered on the 13th August 2003. The first and only owner used the car as a second vehicle in retirement but mostly kept it garaged due to poor health meaning he would not use it. In 2010 the car was no longer being used whereby it remained in the garage until in 2022 and following the passing of the only owner the car was discovered. Despite the low mileage there are seven stamped entries in the original service booklet with the most recent being in August 2022 at 979 miles which entailed a full program of recommissioning including a major service with all oils, fluids and filters replaced as well as a full safety inspection.

The original Suzuki document wallet houses all handbooks, guides and dealership literature as well as two sets of keys with code tags and dealer fobs. A separate history folder contains recent service documentation along with Jimny range sales and accessories brochures. Preserved to the highest original order and as close to a new 2003 Jimny as you are ever likely to find, truly outstanding.

Skoda Felicia Fun Pickup

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A Lifestyle Edition of 612 UK Skoda Felicia Fun Pickups with only 17,301 miles.

MODEL HISTORY
Released as a limited-edition Lifestyle Vehicle in 1997 and produced until 2001, the Skoda Felicia Fun was a huge departure from the marques usual staid and sensible family vehicles. Built at the Skoda factory in Vrchlabí, Czech Republic, the intention was to produce just 300 units for the UK market. As much as a surprise that Skoda produced the car in the first place was that the car was very well received in the UK market despite the vehicles design somewhat ill-suited to UK climate. In total 612 cars were sold into the UK. All cars were factory finished in Yellow Fun paint and featured the ingenious sliding rear bulkhead to reveal 2 folding rear seats which were exposed to the elements. UK buyers thankfully were offered respite from the poor weather with a number of factory optional additional roof combinations. Most cars came with a darker yellow body kit, bumpers and trim and in some rare instances buyers were able to choose this body kit colour scheme in orange or green.

EQUIPMENT
Type 796 pick-up body with 2+2 seat configuration, sliding rear bulkhead to reveal 2 folding rear seats, full body kit with integral bull bar, large bumpers, roof rails, roll-over bar, unique Yellow Fun paintwork to body, contrasting dark yellow body kit paint, Frog Prince C-pillar and rear door decals, Yellow leather/cloth upholstery with Frog Prince logo, rear storage lockers, wooden load bed protector slats. Dealer options; Truckman Aerotop SL with side windows, mud flaps, tailored floor mats with Frog Prince logo, interior wood fascia pack.

EXTERIOR
This amazing limited-edition vehicle from Skoda is finished in factory original Yellow Fun, (Code L651), with contrasting dark yellow bumpers and body kit. Having covered just 17,267 miles from new and been in the ownership of a fastidious Skoda Owners Club member and former Skoda employee, the vehicle is simply outstanding. The paintwork boasts a bright polished shine throughout. All panels are pin straight and free from damage as are the unique trim sections, body kit and quirky Frog Prince decals. Supplying dealer number plates remain with the car. The factory optional and very sought-after Truckman Aerotop SL with side windows is fully intact and easy to manoeuvre on and off the vehicle. This idiosyncratic dare to be different Skoda is guaranteed to live up to its name.

INTERIOR
Absolutely fabulous in every respect is this wonderfully peculiar interior upholstered with factory Yellow leather and cloth with Frog Prince logo, reputedly inspired by the Frog Prince fairy tale and a reference to Volkswagen’s partnership with Skoda. Having covered just 17,267 miles from new, the seats are in amazing preserved condition. The matching door cards are as new and the often-discoloured yellow leather to the steering wheel, gear knob, handbrake lever and gaiter remain super-bright. Incredibly, the first owner had the foresight to retain the original floor mats with Frog Prince logo unused and still in the cellophane covering! Standard carpets with a yellow beading protect the carpets front and rear instead. The clever and effortless system of folding and unfolding the perfect rear seats allows this full adult four-seater to be enjoyed whilst retaining plenty of load space storage for whichever adrenaline sports activity you have chosen for the day. The rear seats have three factory seat belts. All equipment operates perfectly including the original Grundig MS201 Skoda branded stereo. Weird and truly wonderous!

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fitted with the time proven 1.6MPI four-cylinder engine with a power output of 73bhp, the fun never stops with a top speed of 101mph and 0-60mph in 12.5 seconds. A spotless clean engine bay features factory stickers and plates clear to see as well as fragile paper labels lost on most higher mileage examples. The five-speed gearbox is light and robust.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The unique seven-spoke alloy wheels are unrestored and in fantastic condition with only faint markings visible upon close scrutiny. For originality purposes the factory Michelin MX80 165/80 R13 tyres remain fitted all round thanks to being stored off the car since new. Dual circuit servo-assisted brakes with 236mm front discs and rear drums offer ample stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new by Skoda Auto Main Dealer, Tran’s City Car Centre Ltd of Walthamstow, this example was registered new on the 2nd June 1999 and has covered a mere 17,301 miles from new. Purchased in 2002 by the previous owner, Mr Briars, who is a former Skoda employee and was a prominent member of the Skoda Owner’s Club GB. The owner of an eclectic collection of various classic cars of which Skoda’s were the majority, this Fun remained in his ownership for 20 years and the preserved condition is quite incredible. Attending various shows and even used in a publicity photoshoot for Playboy this car is not for the fainthearted! Virtually impossible to source items include a brand-new unopened set of floor mats with Frog Prince logo and an original Skoda Felicia Fun Brochure. The full book pack includes the additional Felicia Fun handbook and there are two sets of keys. In July 2022 at 17,301 miles a cambelt change and service was carried out.

An amazing preserved example of this strange limited-edition Skoda.

The Capri 2.8 Injection was the first offering of the new Special Vehicle Engineering (SVE) operation that had recently been set up in Dunton, Essex. SVE added a Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection system, an oil/water heat exchanger, viscous coupled fan and an improved radiator making the 158 BHP capable of 130mph and 0-60mph in 7.9 seconds. The hydraulic dual-line servo-assisted brakes with ventilated front discs unique on the 2.8 Special are shiny clean with no wear.

HISTORY FILE
Built in June 1986 at the Saarlouis Plant in Germany, and supplied new to Albert William Clarkson by Ford Main Dealer, South Essex Motors, (SEM of Basildon Essex). The new vehicle invoice reveals a price paid of £7,698 and a further £77.92 for all the unused accessories still in original packaging. Albert secured this price through the employee Own-a-Ford purchase scheme thanks to his father working for Ford at the time, a hefty discount on the £11,002 list price! Annoyed with the dealer on collection as the car had covered 68 miles, we know this as he reset the tripmeter at new car handover! His intention was to preserve the car and not drive it, he had a glorious Mk2 Ford Cortina 1600E for the shows and a Ford Escort daily at the time, now a Focus! The dedication to keep the car as new was unrivalled. Parts included to revert the car back to standard should the next owner wish consist of the standard exhaust system, braking components, rear light clusters, front indicators and side repeaters.

HISTORY FILE
This matching numbers 1992 Kawasaki Zephyr 1100 represents a very original and unmolested example that has formed part of a privileged collection worthy of a museum. Frame number 212 makes this an early first production year bike that was registered new on the 1st August 1992 by Kawasaki main agent, Garozzo Motor Cycles Ltd of Sidcup. First owner, Mr Baines, owned the bike until 1997 when at just 617 miles he sold it to Paul Smart Ltd. Paul Smart was a legendary TT and Circuit Racer who owned said dealership in Paddock Wood, Kent and such was his fame that Ducati made a replica of his race bike. Tragically Mr Smart was killed in a road traffic collision in 2021. The second owner, Mr Lancaster, spotted the Zephyr 1100 whilst riding past the dealership on his Zephyr 550. ‘A dream machine’ was how he described the bike, (to his friend to whom he later sold the bike to), and he immediately paid a deposit. In 2019 having given up riding, he sold the bike to his friend, Mr Mace, to whom he was Apprentice Master in the early 1990’s at the Motorcycle Division of the Roads Policing Unit. Now a Roads Policing Unit Development Officer and Tactical Operations Command Rider, Mr Mace owns an amazing and eclectic collection of motorcycles all detailed, prepared and maintained to an incredible level in his mini-museum.

The history file comprises of an original owner’s manual and service book, many previous MOT certificates dating back to the mid 1990’s and invoices for servicing and maintenance. The most recent service was carried out in May 2022 and the carburettors were subject to a full rebuild in July 2022 at a cost of almost £600. Completing the history file are two sets of keys and an original Kawasaki Zephyr 1100 sales brochure. Exceptional in every respect.
