Subaru Impreza WRX STI Spec C

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

One of 900 Limited Edition Subaru Impreza WRX STI Spec C in exclusive Sunrise Yellow.

MODEL HISTORY
The Subaru Impreza WRX STI Spec C is a limited-edition homologation special which nearly did not exist. When Subaru pulled out of its 20-year involvement in the World Rally Championships after a massive fall in sales worldwide it had to rethink its motorsport programme. Fortunately this rare addition to the WRX STI line-up went on sale through dealerships in Japan only as proof it had not forgotten who it was and what it excelled at. The 2.5-litre engine was dumped for the revvier, feistier EJ20 2.0-litre and a massive overhaul with new diffs, dampers, springs and bars, plus there was a drop in kerbweight of 30kg. With iconic models such as the 22B, (400 units made), RB5, (444 units made), P1, (1000 units made), this limited edition Spec C with only 900 units made, (circa 100 in Sunrise Yellow), is destined for a bright future.

EQUIPMENT
Colour coded body and spoiler kit, sophisticated cooling and air extraction incorporating large bonnet intake and side air extraction vents, Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD), Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-DRIVE), Incline Start Assist, VDC electronic stability control, ABS with brake assist, automatic air conditioning, speed sensitive power steering, aluminium pedals. Special Spec C Factory Equipment; Aluminium bonnet, Laminar lighter weight window glass, upgrade exclusively tuned ECU, downsized battery, reinforced front cross-member, stiffened springs and shock absorbers, larger anti-roll bars, upgraded subframe bushings, mechanical Limited Slip Differential, inter-cooler water spray, Gold coloured Brembo brake callipers, ball-bearing type twin scroll turbocharger. Dealer Accessories; Genuine Subaru ribbed carpet mats, side window air deflectors. Accessories; DAB Satellite Radio and Navigation Package, Cat 1 security alarm.

EXTERIOR
This Limited-Edition Subaru Impreza WRX STI Spec C is finished in rare and exclusive Sunrise Yellow, (Code C2Z). The gleaming paintwork boasts a vibrant detailed finish and helps enhance all the scoops and air intakes. A small ding to the lower driver’s door and two minuscule dings to the bonnet are visible and noteworthy imperfections. All trim sections, bumpers, scoops and special WRX STI Spec C features remain standard and originality seekers will be pleased to see factory stickers intact within the spotless door apertures. The aluminium bonnet and Laminar lighter weight window glass all remain fitted. Very special.

INTERIOR
STI branded sports bucket front seats with red stitching are in excellent clean condition with no notable wear. Matching door cards are immaculate as is the black headlining. The dashboard and switchgear are unmolested as is the leather steering wheel with fully intact red stitching. All functions, controls and gauges operate perfectly including the ice-cold air conditioning. Lifting the boot lid reveals an immaculate boot carpet as well as the Subaru tool pouch, tyre change compressor and inter-cooler water spray bottle. UK specification DAB and touch screen navigation has been professionally installed.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The Impreza WRX STI Spec C is fitted with the EJ20 2.0 Litre turbocharged engine whereby peak power is quoted as 308bhp at 6400rpm and 422Nm of torque 4400rpm to achieve phenomenal performance figures of 155mph limited top speed and 0-60mph in just 4.5 seconds! The engine bay is stunningly clean with all factory plates, label and stickers intact and Subaru stampings to the original inner wings. The 6-speed quick shift short throw gear change maximises full use of the power and in 2018 an Exedy Pink Box clutch was fitted.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
New for the Spec C were gorgeous 18” High-Lustre anthracite alloy wheels fitted as standard which remain in perfect condition. Matching premium brand Michelin 245/40 R18 have masses of tread. Gleaming gold callipers all round with STI inscription are a distinguishing feature of Spec C and the power of this awesome road going rally car is easily harnessed.

HISTORY FILE
Hailed as a significantly tweaked brother to the Impreza WRX STI, the Spec C was limited to just 900 units for the Japanese market only. Personally sourced by Paul Finch from Finch Motorsport Subaru Engine Specialists for his personal collection, this 2009 example was brought into the UK in 2018 with all UK import duties, SVA/IVA certification and UK registered completed. The Japanese Auction Car Condition Grade was an impressive 4.5. The car has covered 66,028 miles (106,262Km) and upon arrival in the UK, Finch Motorsport carried out documented works to include a new uprated clutch, full cambelt kit, tensioners and idlers, major service and new OEM radiator. Annual servicing since has been upheld with the most recent service carried out in September 2023. All import and compliance paperwork are held in the history file along with servicing and maintenance invoices since arrival in the UK. There are two sets of keys with fobs.

Requiring nothing other than an appreciative enthusiast to enjoy and preserve.

HISTORY
Big wheeled BMX’s have enjoyed a significant surge in popularity in recent years and this was Haro’s first big wheeled bike, from 2019. An exact scaled up version of their original world championship winning bike that Pistol Pete rode, it is very much aimed at the perhaps older middle aged original BMX rider, who wants to relive their youth but still be able to actually manage the bike and not have to drive home after the pub! The original catalogue for the bike lists all the parts, and because it was their first one, Haro threw all their best parts (Lineage) at the bike and made it a limited edition of 1,000 bikes worldwide. Haro have since made further big wheeled bikes, even versions of this bike, yet none of the subsequent bikes have the high-end parts this first limited edition had.

DESCRIPTION
Fully assembled and virtually unridden, this very rare Haro Limited Edition represents a perfect collector’s item for BMX fans all over the world. The BMX presents in near perfect condition commensurate with ultra-minimal usage and nothing other than two minuscule scratches to the front forks were acquired in storage, barely noticeable. All touch points such as the grips, pedals and seat are immaculate and all factory labels remain perfectly. The rims are pristine with labels still affixed and the tyres still have the tiny nobbles usually lost after the first few miles!

SUMMARY
Created as a limited edition run of just 1000 bikes worldwide and dedicated to legendary BMX racer Pistol Pete (Peter Loncarevich) who competed throughout the 1980’s and first half of the 1990’s. Pistol Pete was a previous Haro Race team member and gained his nickname as was often the case from the Announcer who noted his penchant of getting out of the starting gate like a firing pistol and achieving the ‘Holeshot’, a racing term for reaching the apex of turn one first! Great fun and highly collectable.

Massive expense has been incurred and wherever possible genuine NOS Volkswagen parts have been used including even a genuine Volkswagen aerial grommet fitted if the first owner did not specify a dealer fit radio! Attention to detail is mind-blowing even down to the correct vertical serrated lines in front lamp lens and the lack of rear window matt black surround, correct for only Helios Blue and Black cars. The 1800cc fuel injected engine produces 112bhp at 5800rpm and 109lbs.ft of torque at 3500rpm, enough to sprint to 60mph in 8.2 seconds and achieve 114mph. The detailed engine bay is pure exhibition standard and spotlessly clean displaying all the correct chassis numbers for a Campaign model. The 5-speed sports gearbox is tight. It is easy to understand how this car started the hot hatch phenomenon.

Correct specification Pirelli P600 185/60 R14 tyres are fitted all round including the spare. The servo-assisted diagonally divided dual-circuit braking system feature front discs and drums to the rear.

HISTORY FILE
Registered with a correct ‘A’ prefix for Campaign models on 20th October 1983 by Volkswagen Main Dealer, Euro Canterbury, this rare Helios Blue example has undergone an incredible program of restoration which has been fully documented with eye watering documented invoices to prove. The standard of craftmanship and attention to detail is exemplary and the two huge history folders portray the cost, time and effort born by previous owner of 11 years who commissioned the project. A true VW enthusiast who purchased one brand new and struggled to find a good one to relive his youth, decided to purchase the very best Helios Blue car and make it brand new! Two immaculately presented history files include masses of receipts, invoices and MOT documentation pertaining to pre and post restoration. The vast expenditure incudes many genuine NOS Volkswagen parts. The original V.A.G Service book pack holds the service book and all handbooks with dealership point of sale literature.

In every respect, this is a stunning example of the highly sought after Mk1 Volkswagen Golf GTi Campaign Edition.

HISTORY FILE
This low mileage MG ZR was registered new on the 29th September 2001 by supplying MG Rover Main Dealer, Horner Eccles Ltd in Manchester and represents a very early pre-Project Drive example of the model. Project Drive was a cost cutting program implemented by MG Rover in late 2001/2002 that fixated on changes to trim, sound insulation and quality of some furnishings in order to save production costs and thankfully this example did not fall victim to any of these measures. Despite the low mileage, the car has benefitted from regular servicing and maintenance and there are 17 stamped entries in the service book, the most recent at 29,647 miles. A documented cambelt change was carried out in September 2023. The original MG handbook/service book along with a large files of service invoices form the full service history and every MOT certificate dating back to the first in 2004 fully verified the mileage at 30,501 miles.

KGF Classic Cars have sourced this stunning example from an enthusiast owner whereby the car was garaged alongside an MGB and Ford Escort RS2000. Very difficult to find in this condition and not to be confused with the majority of tired examples and ready to stand proud at any show.

EXTERIOR
The ultimate evocation of nostalgia for the Max Power Generation is this amazing Ford Orion Zetec Turbo which has been the subject of full magazine features in both FastFord and Performance Ford. This stunning Orion is finished in deep cherry red having been subject to a full repaint in 2014. The paint finish is uniform with a deep shine while the critical eye will note some signs of wear in particular cracks to the paint on the front bumper and rear spoiler, very light paint blebs throughout visible only on close inspection and some dings. The sunroof is fully operational and all glass and light fittings are intact. The underside is very solid with no structural issues. The car looks fantastic and is very highly regarded within the retro Fast Ford community and Orion Register.

INTERIOR
A somewhat purposely understated interior with subtle hints towards the epic power specification this Orion boasts! The upholstery is courtesy of an Orion Ghia Injection including seats and doors cards and front RS Turbo Recaro seats professionally re-upholstered to match. The seats are in good condition and the huge bolsters to the Recaro’s firm and unworn. The carpets and headlining are clean and genuine Ford rubber waffle mats are fitted front and rear. The dashboard is free from cracks and the retro Fast Ford attributes include Infinity speakers with sub and neatly fitted oil and boost pressure gauges. The RS 4-spoke steering wheel looks superb. Perfectly comfortable and usable with some delicious 90’s themed features!

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The engine has been professionally built and mapped to a huge specification by renowned Harvey Gibbs Cosworth Specialist of Supreme Car Services in Peterborough. The previous owner of 13 years, Pete, was adamant the car would be driven and enjoyed yet was insistent on longevity and the reliability of an everyday car. His primary goal was to ensure the car took him without demur to Ford Fair each year and to never be one of the bonnet-up classic Fords seen in the traffic jams approaching the Silverstone event! To this end the engine speciation is capable of huge power increases yet is currently Dyno-Tested at around 200-220bhp, still more than twice the original output from what started life as an Orion 1.3L! Putting this power down is through an RS Turbo LSD gearbox. A totally exhilarating driving experience and utterly dependable.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Compomotive MO5 7½ x 16″ alloys wheels are in very good order and wear 195/45 R16 Toyo Proxes performance tyres with masses of tread. Sapphire Cosworth front brakes with braded hoses and RS Turbo rear drums are well capable of harnessing the increased engine power.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on the 15th December 1989, this Ford Orion began life as a humble 1.3L of which it remained until around 2010. The previous owner of thirteen years, Pete, purchased the car as a weekend toy and project car to go alongside his daily transport, a 1988 Orion 1.8 diesel! Over the past thirteen years Pete has embarked on a mission to build the ultimate Orion Turbo for which his efforts have won the car multiple page features in both FastFord and Performance Ford. The build has been fully documented and a photo album shows the car throughout the various stages up to the present day and the full specification is carefully recorded. The comprehensive folder of invoices, photo album and magazines are included in the history file and the cost to create this retro car is beyond belief!

Not meeting the usual KGF Classic Cars stock profile in terms of condition one credentials and a wide deviation from standard, but not detracting from the cars overall excellent attributes, we are offering this example for sale on a part exchange to clear basis. The car looks superb and performs as such and represents huge Max Power nostalgic fun. There are two sets of keys. Full inspection and test drive is welcome.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The engine is the heart and soul of the car – four cylinders providing 189 bhp at a dizzy 7800rpm. The advanced design uses variable valve timing and lift (VVTL-i) to provide high power without sacrificing economy. The engine bay is spotlessly clean with the desirable sports exhaust fitted to enhance the adrenalin-fuelled experience. A close ratio 6-speed gearbox compliments the engine’s character to ensure lightning responses and acceleration from 0 to 60mph in just 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 150mph. Absolute full Lotus service history ensures optimal performance and peace of mind.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Special ultra-light weight forged 7-twin-spoke design alloy wheels finished in Hi-power silver are both stronger and over 12kg lighter than standard cast wheels with no curbing to the factory original finish. Shod in Yokohama Advan Neova AD07 LTS tyres measuring 175/55 R16 up front and 225/45 R17 to the rear with ample tread. Cross drilled and ventilated brake discs front and rear provide powerful stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new by Lotus Main Dealer, Nick Whale Sports Cars on the 24th March 2006, this special edition Elise has covered a warranted 9,565 miles from new with full Lotus main dealer history. Owned by a passionate North Yorkshire Lotus Owners Club member since November 2007 the upkeep and dedication to this rare car can only be described as fanatical with no less than 17 stamped main dealer visits spanning across two service books with accompanying invoices! The last Lotus main dealer service was carried out in April 2023 at 9,436 miles and all recall works issued by Lotus are complete and documented. Such was the cautions nature of the owner that when the oil cooler hose recall was carried out he stipulated that the dealer replace the radiator and air conditioning condenser at his expense! Strictly garaged by the previous owner under a dust sheet and on a Lotus approved battery conditioner, this example has seen dry use only and certainly no track days! All handbooks, brochures, spare keys and remotes are present with one remotes rubber button worn. Innovative design, outstanding performance and absolute exclusivity.

HISTORY FILE
This UK example was registered new on the 1st June 1971 by supplying Volkswagen Main Dealer, Birch’s Garage Ltd in Cambridge. Incredibly just three owners and 53,972 miles from new, this very special Dormobile was a factory conversion from new rather than one which was carried out retrospectively. The first owner, a Mr R.C. Cain Esq, purchased the vehicle and paid £1,401 as evidenced by the original order form, sales invoice and payment docket which remarkably have all been kept! Mr Cain loved the Dormobile for 30 years with strict dry storage and dry day usage was paramount and there is even a detailed maintenance log spanning from 1979 to 2000. On recommendation from a friend and fellow Volkswagen fanatic, the second owner approached Mr Cain in 2001 and agreed a deal to buy the vehicle and found that it was every bit as original and incredible as he as been promised. In the hands of the second owner for 19 years, there has been just one change of keeper since.

A vehicle history file makes for wonderful perusal and includes the service record, handbook and very rare VW diagnostic coupon booklet! A Volkswagen Camper and Commercial magazine feature from 2014 featuring this Dormobile not only covers six pages but is also even the centre fold poster! Without question one of the best Type 2 example in existence and seldomly available to the open market. Buy it while you can.
