EXTERIOR
With one owner and a warranted 1,771 miles from new, this incredibly early BMW Mini Cooper boasts the kudos of being a member of the Mini Y Register qualifying vehicles covering Y plate and 51 plate cars built in 2001. Finished in factory original Liquid Yellow, (Code 902), the paintwork presents beautifully throughout with a stunning uniform shine and all panels are pin straight. Supplying dealer branded number plates and rear screen sticker are fitted and the underside and apertures are very clean. Two replaceable window trims have minor damage. Mini Y Register experts will note at least one of the features of a very early build car being the number plate light lens with black painted diffuser, soon replaced by ribbed plastic. A collectors quality example with likely unrepeatable credentials.
INTERIOR
A very high specification example boasts the most expensive Chili Pack as well as many other factory options including the very rare electric panoramic glass sunroof. Having covered just 1,771 miles from new, the interior space is effectively as new. The expensive Profile black leather seats are perfect in every respect other than a few minor marks to the driver bolster. All trim and interior furnishings are pristine including the headlining and Brilliant Silver interior styling. The carpets and velour mats have been protected by the rare rubber gearmats from new. All switchgear and high use touch points such as the steering wheel and pedals have the pleasing lack of wear which is soon lost after a few thousand miles. Close scrutineers will notice nothing other than a small slit to the handbrake gaiter. All equipment operates seamlessly including the ice-cold factory optional air-conditioning and upgraded stereo system. The boot area is pristine with boot carpets and pin straight parcel shelf. An interior reminiscent of the all-new Mini launch in 2001!
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
At the time of launch, the all new R50 Mini was available as the Mini One or the Mini Cooper which took its name from the iconic original Mini variant. This Mini Cooper has the more powerful 113bhp version of the 1598cc petrol engine. The front end lifts entirely including the headlights to reveal a clean engine bay still with factory labels, protective wax and strut top stampings clearly visible. The factory optional automatic transmission with switchable manual control operates perfectly having just been serviced with very expensive genuine BMW automatic transmission fluid.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The 5-star light alloy wheels, part of the expensive Chili Pack, are virtually unmarked and are shod in brand new premium Michelin Primacy 3 195/55 R16 tyres in March 2024 replacing the original factory items! The fade-free braking system features ABS and discs to all four wheels and the safety conscious owner specified Automatic Stability Control as a factory option.
HISTORY FILE
The all-new Mini went on sale on the 7th July 2001 and 2001 built models incorporating Y plate and 51 plate cars are highly sought after. Confirmed by the Mini Y Register as being built on the 7th November 2001, this stunning Cooper is the 54th UK automatic example produced. Ordered to an incredibly high specification in the desirable colour of Liquid Yellow, this car was destined to remain with one owner and to date has covered an incredibly low 1,771 miles from new! The supplying dealer was Ocean Torbay Mini and order records confirm the basic list price of £9,531.91 yet factory options took the total amount to £15,445! Print outs confirm the car has visited a BMW dealer eight times and has had an annual MOT until 2019 when the elderly owner ceased driving. Having now benefited from a full recommission with major service including absolutely all fluids as well as brand new brake discs and pads all-round. The full pack holds the service book, all handbooks and point of sale literature. Service receipts and a Mini presentation launch brochure complete the history file. Almost 23 years after initial launch, early versions of the all-new Mini are stable modern classics this this Y Register candidate has unbeatable credentials, just imagine if you had the classic 1959 Mini with the same credentials!
