EXTERIOR
Little introduction is needed for the Land Rover Defender which has earned true legendary status as the original and ultimate utilitarian workhorse, worthy of much accolade. This 2013 Defender 90 XS is very highly specified and offers the perfect contrast of equipment and luxury versus rugged capability. Finished in factory optional Santorini Black Metallic, (Code 861), the original paintwork boasts an amazing deep gloss shine, commensurate with a pampered 11,086 miles example. The bodywork is virtually unmarked and entirely correct, even down to the rudimentary spot welds still visible from the factory, exactly as they always have been. The robust trim sections are as new and the supplying main dealer number plates remain fitted. The underside is spotless. The original and best at its best!

INTERIOR
Built for a tough life yet far more to hand than just the essentials! The interior of this XS Defender is tough, rugged yet very well appointed you could even be mistaken in thinking you have climbed into the Defender’s more luxurious sibling, the Discovery. The pristine Part Leather seats in Black, (Code T), are perfect and all controls and switchgear are as new. The rubber protection to both box seat sections has scrubbed slightly on the corners. Extra thick and ultra-tough rubber floor coverings are easily removable for cleaning should the off-road scene beckon! To drive a defender offers the feeling of indestructability and an ability to take on the world, and this example firmly upholds that belief.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The Defender’s 2.2 litre turbocharged and intercooled unit with electronic high-speed direct injection offers as standard 122bhp and plenty of low-end torque at 360Nm at 2000rpm. Crucially the impressive off-road credentials to include a maximum gradient climb of 45 degrees, maximum transverse angle 30 degrees, minimum ground clearance 323mm and a wading depth of 500mm, this incredible machine is unsurpassed in its capabilities. As you would expect from such low mileage, the engine bay is pristine and displays factory plates, stickers and even coloured PDI dots! The ultra-strong six speed gearbox is assuring and heavy in operation but not to the extent of being difficult. A real ‘go anywhere’ machine.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Factory optional Sawtooth alloy wheels are finished in matching Gloss Black and are as new. Quality Goodyear Wrangler LT235/85 R16 tyres have masses of tread remaining and the spare tyre mounted to the rear door is unused with coloured banding still visible. Safety assurance is optimum with Anti-Lock Braking (ABS), Electronic Traction Control (ETC) and Dynamic Stability Control.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied by Hardwoods Land Rover of Croydon, this fantastic example was factory ordered to huge specification and registered on the 16th May 2013. With just two former keepers and having covered just 11,086 miles from new, this preserved example has certainly not seen any off-road usage and represents an amazing late example of the now highly collectable original Defender, following the cessation of production in January 2016. The leather-bound document wallet holds the original service book, handbooks, guides and point of sale literature and there are two sets of keys with remote fobs, code tag and Harwoods Land Rover keyring.
