SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A Ford Escort Mk2 RS2000 pre Custom in immaculate low owner condition.

EQUIPMENT
Polyurethane front end incorporating four Cibie quartz halogen headlamps, front air dam, rubberised tail spoiler, twin bodyside coachline, RS2000 decals, black door mirrors, laminated windscreen, hazard warning flashers, heated rear window, separate fuel, water temperature and oil pressure gauges, padded sun visors, two-speed heater, aeroflow ventilation with eye ball vents, centre console, glovebox, quartz clock, full trimmed door cards, cut pile carpeting, vanity mirror.

EXTERIOR
The exterior of this RS2000 is finished in alluring Venetian Red, (Code R), which boasts a stunning shine and uniform finish. The polyurethane droop snoot is straight and perfectly colour matched housing a set of four crystal clear Cibie 60/55W quartz-halogen headlamps. Genuine Altissimo rear light clusters are fitted and all trim sections, RS decals and badges remain intact and are in excellent order. The vehicle still has the correct colour coded fuel filler cap, dealer metal number plates and date correct plain Sekurit glass fitted as standard to early cars. The clean underside reveals the pampered low owner credentials and will please the next blue oval enthusiast wanting to enjoy and show.

INTERIOR
Being an early pre Custom and pre Base model this example is fitted with the desirable Scheel reclining seats with roll-top headrests. Incredibly these high-back seats with shapely side bolsters are still trimmed in the original black Beta cloth and retain all support and are in excellent condition. Indeed, still within the seat covers is the brown cardboard tag detailing the manufacturing date often only found on low mileage examples. Matching black cut pile carpets and fully trimmed door panels are in excellent condition and the padded dash top housing fully functional gauges is undamaged. Connoisseurs will note the early 120mph speedo with white needles and working Smiths Quartz clock with dark orange hands. The heater fan works on both settings and the Ford radio is operational. The clean boot area shows some marks to the cardboard seatback and houses a Ford jack in the hessian bag along with a wheel brace. A truly spectacular RS interior.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The original matching numbers 1993cc SOHC engine remains fitted to this vehicle with standard features such as the Ford plastic air box cover and twin-choke Weber 32DGAV carburettor. The engine bay is spotless with original factory metal data plates and the black plastic bulkhead cover all still present. Performance figures of 108.2mph top speed and 0-60 in just 8.5 seconds are more than respectable, even for modern standards. The Type E standard four-speed gearbox snaps into gear perfectly.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Genuine Ford RS Ronal alloy road wheels have been refurbished with matching quality Pirelli 175/70 R13 tyres showing plenty of tread. The spare alloy wheel is housed in the boot area. Vacuum servo assisted front disc brakes with rear drums brakes offer fair braking but fall short of modern standards.

HISTORY FILE
Built on the Saarlouis production line in May 1977 and first registered on 1st August 1977 by Ford Rallye Sport Dealer, Frank G. Gates Ltd this beautiful example has only had three former keepers from new. Produced prior to the Custom and Base model these early cars possess key differences sought-after by collectors and very difficult to find. The history file contains the original delivery/collection note when the car was supplied to the first owner Mr D Blatch who opted for the Dinitrol 6 year guarantee treatment. Cherished by him until his passing when his brother Mr Bernard Blatch took ownership. Bernard had the car fully serviced and checked in February 1999 when it had covered 44,760 miles as it had been unused for a few years prior to his brothers passing and subsequently put the car in storage. Then sold in 2003 to Mr Swain a Ford enthusiast who sympathetically restored the car enjoying it for the next 14 years until the current owner Mr Warner purchased the car. Mr Warner has decided to part with the car due to the acquisition of an even lower mileage Black RS2000. A collection of invoices, old MOT certificates, tax discs and spare keys are included. This is a very special, highly collectable Rallye Sport for the Ford fanatic.
