EXTERIOR
It is difficult to portray just how special this mind-blowing Golf Mk2 GTi is, finished in Tornado Red, (Colour Code LY3D).  With this multiple concours-winning car, the numerous trophies, judging score sheets, magazine features, show display boards and countless rosettes speak for themselves, leading to this Golf being regarded as possibly the best in the country.  A phenomenal list of awards and trophies gained since 2014 make remarkable reading, with highlights including four 1st place awards at Stanford Hall including twice winner in Super Class, and seven trophies for 1st place at GTi Festival being just a handful of accolades with many more to fill up a large trophy cabinet!  To further emphasise the incredible showpiece credentials, several concours judging checklists reveal winning scores of 97/100, 96/100 and 127/140 at events including Stanford Hall, Tatton Park and the Association of British Volkswagen Clubs.  Nothing beats physical inspection though to fully appreciate the near perfect paint finish and fully detailed underside, where it all becomes quite obvious why this Golf has gained huge respect and admiration at the most prestigious and meticulous of judging events.

INTERIOR
A truly spectacular interior with the sports seats finished in the Grey/Red trim, (Code HZ), with the matching unmarked cloth covered door and side panels.  The bolsters remain perfectly shaped and unworn commensurate with the incredibly low mileage and the carpets are still protected by the original VW carpet mats.  The supplying dealer tax disc holder remains affixed to the front screen and even the steering wheel and gear knob retain their textured finishes.  The boot carpet looks brand new, all the tools are still present and correct, as is the original VW first aid kit still in the cellophane wrapper!  Perfectionists will adore the boot factory code sticker and production check sticker still attached.  Worthy of concours judging scores of 20/20, 19/20 and 18/20 for the interior category!

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The engine produces a 112bhp and 159Nm of Torque and drives perfectly with a distinctive exhaust note which is truly addictive.  A top speed of 119mph and 0-60mph in 8.3 seconds are quoted.  A pristine engine bay with factory wax and an unbroken plastic bulkhead cover will please exhibitors and event scrutineers.  The 5 speed sports gearbox is positive and is a joy to use.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Brand new 6J x 14in sports steel wheels were sourced from Germany in 2015 and are correct for the 8V model.  Five matching Uniroyal Rainexpert 185/60 R14 tyres were sourced at the same time with the spare tyre unused.  Fully detailed to concours level, the ventilated front disc brakes and rear disc brakes offer plenty of stopping power.  This Golf GTi drives just as amazing as it looks!

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on the 15th August 1989 by Volkswagen Main Dealer, Links Garage in Derbyshire, the first owner was a Mr William Hird.  The car was his pride and joy and returning to the same dealer for servicing until his driving retirement in 1995, all evidenced in the stamped service book.  During this time the car was known by the second owner and neighbour, Mr Shaun Green.  Mr Green had mentioned on more than one occasion his desire to purchase the car with polite refusal each time.  Eventually in 2010, Mr Green was given permission to buy the car, but only after a strict vetting process!  Used by Mr Green for shows and VW events the car has continued to lead a pampered life.  KGF Classic Cars sold the car in October 2015 to Chris Burt, who being well known in Volkswagen concours events took an already exceptional car to the phenomenal, multi-award-winning level we see today.  Two immaculately presented history files make fascinating reading whereby thorough perusal requires several hours!  One file being dedicated to concours competitions with score sheets, awards and magazine features including Modern Classics and Volkswagen Driver.  A further large box contains no less than 14 trophies along with presentation boards, rosettes and plaques.  This car was also invited onto the prestigious Mequiars Stand at the 2017 NEC Classic Car show.

The original VW grey document holder is also with the car that contains all the owner’s manuals, instructions pamphlets and dealer literature.  The service history file contains letters between owners, masses of invoices from the supplying main dealer and specialists as well as MOT certificates dating back to the first in 1992!  Originality seekers will be pleased to see the original supplying dealer number plates preserved in the boot.  This GTi thoroughly excels in every conceivable way.  Contact KGF Classic Cars with your application to become the custodian of the best Golf GTi available.
