Dealer accessories; Datatag security.
EXTERIOR
Finished in the factory original combination of Sparkling Red (code R127) and Pallet Purple (code RP124), the appearance and condition of this successful and iconic motorcycle can only be described as impeccable. Launched as the first variant of the CBR model with an aluminium frame, this CBR600F has been preserved in truly amazing condition owing to the very low 2,286 miles covered and careful storage. Having never been restored or refurbished this example represents a very unique survivor and to describe it as a time warp is wholly appropriate. Small openings in the faring allow inspection of the beautifully machined Combined Pivot aluminium frame which is perfect. All rubbers, grips and ancillaries are in line with the minimal usage of a cosseted example and the supplying dealer number plate is still fitted. A small tank protector has been neatly added. Virtually as good as the day it was built and very special.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Likewise with the frame and body, the emphasis on saving weight and increased agility was firmly in mind with engine production on the CBR600F, contributing to an overall machine weight saving of 16kg on the previous model. Born in the heat of racing action and designed to allow competition in the FIM World Supersport Series, the engine peaks at 108bhp with a specification list that will excite and delight any true petrol head. A heavy duty but lightweight seven-plate clutch relays the six speed gearbox ratios specially selected to match the engine’s character.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The three spoke 17” wheels remain in the factory black and are shod in the original Michelin Hi-Sport tyres with 120/70 R17 front and a wider width of 180/55 R17 allowed on the rear. These soft compound tyres still have the manufacturing nobbles and display no cracking. There is plenty of tread, however renewal prior to regular riding would be a wise safety consideration simply due to age. A powerful braking system features a 296mm dual front disc with four piston callipers and 220mm rear disc with single piston calliper, both with sintered metal pads. True engineering expertise.
HISTORY FILE
Registered new on 1st September 1999 by Honda agents Jack Machin Motorcycles, this example has covered a mere 2,286 miles with just two knowledgeable enthusiast keepers from new. The history file compromises of a fully complete Honda Motorcycles book pack containing the original service booklet displaying supplying main dealer stamps up to 2,019 whereupon the bike was placed into storage. The owner’s manual, Owner’s Gold Card and all factory build cards and Datatag security literature is held within the wallet. Completing the history file is the MOT certificates from the pre storage period, leather dealer key fob and the spare key with even the plastic sheath still intact! A motorcycle specialist invoice dated May 2016 for £721.35 includes a service, check over and recommissioning after an extended period of inactivity. Quite possibly the best unrestored example there is and something for the Honda enthusiast or classic motorcycle collector to behold. An iconic and successful competitor with this example riding just as good as it looks.
