EQUIPMENT
Chrome mudguards front and rear, chrome side repeaters, speedometer, tachometer, ignition switch, turn signal switch, headlight switch, dimmer switch, engine kill switch, neutral indicator, oil light, high beam light, horn, electric start, rear footrests, fuel valve, helmet holder, lockable fuel cap.
EXTERIOR
Finished in Competition Yellow the overall appearance of this motorcycle is sharp and smart with admiring glances guaranteed. The chrome has a mirror finish with only slight fade to the rear mudguard and a couple of minor marks to the front. The coffin style tank is unmarked and the wide black waterproof seat is perfect having been professionally recovered. All switches, lights and controls work and the shock mounted instrumentation is easily readable. The engine Stop sticker has faded. The tough tubular high tensile steel frame along with the rear swinging arm suspension has been power coated for a gloss hardwearing finish. Smart, efficient and very enjoyable.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
This superb Yamaha 2-stroke twin has a swept displacement of 195cc and produces 20bhp at 8000rpm. Yamahas Autolube pump mechanism feeds oil to the engine for efficient lubrication while the twin 20mm carburettors give an instant response to a twist of the throttle grip. All components are beautifully clean on this matching numbers engine. A genuine and standard chrome IE8 twin exhaust system sounds wonderful with no damage. The electric starter is fully operational. The slick easy gear shifting 5-speed transmission matches the power characteristics of the engine perfectly.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The RD200DX is fitted with classic chrome spoked wheels and are presented in fabulous shiny undamaged condition. Front 100/90 -18 and rear 3.50 -18 tyres have ample tread. Hydraulic 245mm disc brakes up front featuring a double piston type caliper and a rear drum stop effectively.
HISTORY FILE
First registered on the 14th October 1977 and a UK home market example with matching numbers. Owned by a motorcycle collector of the highest standing and forming part of a jaw dropping collection from Fantic Choppers and Yamaha FS1-E’s to Kawasaki Z1’s all in concours condition. This motorcycle reflects a no expense spared mentality to the build and a new owner will be delighted with the attention to detail. An iconic Yamaha ready for a discerning new owner.
