SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A handsome Honda CB400F with just 2,526 miles from new and two owners.

EQUIPMENT
Chrome mudguards front and rear, chrome side repeaters, circular orange side reflectors,  twin chrome mirrors, speedometer, tripmeter, tachometer, neutral indicator, oil pressure light, high beam light, horn, ignition switch/fork lock, turn signal switch, headlight switch, dimmer switch, electric start, engine kill switch, rear footrests, fuel valve, helmet holder, lockable fuel cap, Honda tool kit.  Dealer Fit: Boyer Bransden micro-digital ignition system.

EXTERIOR
This miniature superbike of the 70’s looks utterly gorgeous finished in pristine Parakeet Yellow.  Unmarked, the large capacity tank has all the original decals and pinstriping and being the later F2 model the chrome fuel filler cap is located to one side.  The factory fitted Honda four-into-one chrome exhaust looks sensuous with its fashion setting double curves.  All lights and lens covers are Honda Stanley fitment and perfectionists will appreciate the production-line, unmolested nature of this example.  All switches, lights and controls work perfectly, as do the Nippon Seiki gauges. The road/sports saddle has virtually no wear and only tiny marks to the front forks and tip of the centre-stand can be seen. All chrome has a mirror finish having been coated with light oil when not in use and even the chain guard tyre pressure sticker is attached.  Highly regarded.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
A direct descendant of Honda’s World Championship Grand Prix 350, this 408cc OHC 4-stroke redlines at 10,000rpm!  With 37bhp available this sophisticated engineering marvel combines power with style and performs faultlessly having been meticulously maintained. Now running electronic ignition for easier starting, smoother running and better fuel economy although the original setup is retained.  The 6-speed close ratio gearbox is reassuringly positive and helps make the most of all the power.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Clean chrome spoked wheels have Bridgestone Battlax BT45F 100/90-18 tyres upfront and a matching 110/80-18 at the rear with ample tread.  A hydraulically-operated self-adjusting 214mm disc at the front and 160mm drum at the rear offers positive stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
Truly amazing.  Supplied new and as evidenced by the new bike invoice by R.O. Clark Ltd in Norwich on the 15th August 1977 to a Mr A. Beesley.  The total sum paid was £915.  Mr Beesley was adamant the bike must be the revised F2 model and proceeded to cover just 1,124 miles in 27 years, during which the bike was kept in heated storage.  The original service book documents a return to the supplying dealer for the 500 mile service and a collection of MOT certificates are included before the second and only other owner, Mr N Mann purchased the bike in October 2004.  Being a fastidious collector and purist, a printout of every service, MOT and classic run is documented and included in the history file.  This bike is highly regarded and has been featured twice in Classic Bike Magazine of which both copies are included in the sale.  One copy displaying the bike on the front page and also as a centre pin-up poster.  A period brochure, owners manual, old tax discs and Honda key fobs are present.  Now having covered just 2,526 miles in an unrestored, factory correct condition this jewel-like machine is ready for a new owner to appreciate.
