EXTERIOR
This UK Volkswagen T2 looks simply divine finished in Lotus White over Powder Blue and displays a magnificent shine wowing onlookers.  All chrome enhancements are mirror reflective and new rubbers throughout demonstrate a no expense spared mentality to this mammoth full time 16 week build.  Bills totalling thousands spent with specialists will assure the structural integrity of this example and finishing touches extending to a new Paul Smith style multi-coloured pop-top and powder coated components will please exhibitionists.  The engine bay is spotlessly clean as is the underside but not detailed due to the owners desire to use for holiday outings and shows.  An adorable Dormobile!

INTERIOR
To witness the care and devotion dedicated to the interior of this spacious motor caravan is a pleasure.  The original seating is beautifully retrimmed in white leatherette vinyl with pale blue piping which even extends to the spare wheel cover!  The cockpit is graced with expensive billet aluminium MCJ products and fresh carpeting, door cards and facia completes the well-executed driver area.  Retro features such as the bamboo under dash shelf and Pool ball gear knob reveal the detail.  Stepping into the rear living/sleeping area is a visual delight thanks to a traditional design with a modern twist.  Blue glass mosaic tiling on work tops and brilliant white high gloss units complement the chequer vinyl flooring and the original Dormobile table has a Split Screen camper picture inlay.  Modern comforts such as LED downlighters, a 19-inch LCD TV, beer chiller and mains hook up to power electrical devices will please those wanting the full camping experience, the equipment has not been tested.  Matching blue utensils are also provided.  Fabulously retro!

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The four cylinder flat four 1641cc air cooled engine has been rebuilt by Elite VW Engines.  Unleaded barrels and heads with new pistons, main bearings, seals and gaskets throughout is fed by Empi 34mm twin carburettors allowing modern day use.  As with the rest of the vehicle, visually pleasing detail such as the Scat chrome rocker covers and a ceramic coated single outlet exhaust reveal the attention to detail.  The fully synchronized 4-speed gearbox with double joint half axle shafts at the rear operates correctly.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Chrome 15” Empi powder coated wheels have locking wheel nuts and 195/50 R15 tyres with excellent tread.  Being a Crossover ‘Late 72 Bay’ disc brakes up front, all renewed, and drums at rear do an effective job of stopping the camper.

HISTORY FILE
Registered on the 9th March 1972 this UK RHD specification Type 2 was converted to a camper by Dormobile when new and enjoyed in this capacity since.  In 2010 the owner embarked on an incredible journey to produce, at vast expense, a show stopping but useable motor caravan.  Bills in the history file amounting to tens of thousands will absolutely reassure the next custodian that no area escaped scrutiny and refurbishment.  Such was the high standard of finish that on the vehicles first outing after the long restoration a second place award at Blenheim Palace Show was won.  Also included in the history file is a wonderful four page feature in VW Camper & Commercial Magazine.  A full complement of keys are present.
