INTERIOR
The unmistakable cockpit of the E30 BMW is designed purely with driver experience in mind. The BMW sports front seats along with the complete interior has undergone a no expense spared re-trim in full BMW silver leather and the results are incredible. The interior upgrade extends to many period genuine BMW accessories such as rear headrests, central front armrest, M tailored floor mats and door pocket additional bin, all now near impossible to source. The wrap around dashboard inclined to the driver is simply perfect and retains the factory matt finish as does the leather trimmed M Technic sports steering wheel, all too often lost by years of amateur ‘dressing up’. All functions and controls are seamless in operation and feel tight and solid to the touch, commensurate with a cared for cherished example. The complete toolkit, first aid kit and warning triangle are present and even the rechargeable glove box torch works! Three discreet and fully operational VDO gauges have been carefully placed and consist of oil pressure, voltmeter and quartz clock. Spotless and truly cossetted, an out and out sports machine.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Displacing 2494cc, the legendary straight six cylinder unit from BMW needs little introduction. 170bhp and 222Nm of torque in a relatively lightweight car raise this car firmly into performance car territory and 0-62 and top speed figures of 9.9 seconds and 132mph respectively are more than respectable. A spotless engine bay to delight any enthusiast has been further enhanced by a polished inlet manifold. The unmistakable crisp engine note remains unsullied by the discreet stainless steel exhaust system. The factory optional Electronic Hydraulic (EH) automatic transmission performs faultlessly and offers positive kick down, exactly as it should.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Five genuine light alloy cross spoke wheels with pristine centre caps are in beautiful condition with no curbing scuffs or scratches whatsoever. Only microscopic areas of lacquer lift around the tyre valves can be detected. Quality Michelin Pilot Exalto 205/55 R15 tyres have masses of tread remaining and the spare is shod in the original Pirelli P600 item. Even the often misplaced plastic centre cap removal tool is in the boot area. The anti-lock braking system (ABS) incorporating all round discs offers ample stopping power to this performance contender and straight line steady braking is assuring.
