EXTERIOR
An exhilarating classic design from Triumph, this Legend TT was derived from the Thunderbird 900 as a no-frills rawer alternative. This exceptional example is finished in factory original Imperial Green, (Code 673). Often misused, the descriptive terms ‘timewarp’ and ‘virtually as new’ are entirely suitable with this exceptional one cossetting owner machine. A mere 1,436 miles covered and strict heated garage storage underneath a cover, has ensured the paintwork and chrome pieces are exceptional. A miniscule scratch to the rear mudguard is only just visible. The exposed framework displays clearly visible factory plates and VIN stamping to the stock, and the original PDI colour markings are untouched. The supplying dealer number plate remains fitted. All trims sections, lights, badges and decals are as new, as are the seats, foot pegs and handlebar grips. This beautiful machine simply gleams and certainly lives up to its namesake, Legend.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Factory powder coated in satin black, the punchy three cylinder 885cc DOHC engine is quenched through 3 x 36mm flat side CV carburettors and develops 69bhp at 8000rpm. An intoxicating growl through the beautifully ornate chromed reverse cone megaphone silencers can be enjoyed upon each rap of the throttle! As you would expect from such a low mileage and cosseted machine, the engine is a piece of ornamental beauty, proudly on display, a detailer’s paradise! Firing instantly on the electric start, the bike performs perfectly and the transmission with wet multi-plate type clutch works through each of the five gears effortlessly.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The beautiful original chrome laced wheels, 17in with 36 spokes to the front and 40 spokes to the rear, are virtually perfect with dazzling bright finish. Quality Bridgestone tyres have masses of tread remaining. The standard large disc brakes of size 320mm front and 285mm rear with two-piston callipers take care of safe stopping.
HISTORY FILE
Named in honour of the famous Isle of Man race circuit, the Triumph Legend TT was produced from 1998 to 2001. This late registered example was supplied by Triumph dealer, PFK Ling of Ipswich, on the 18th July 2002 to Mr Peter Dixon, who purchased the bike alongside his wife Thirza, who at the same time purchased a brand new Triumph Bonneville America. Mr Dixon is the one and only keeper and has covered a mere 1,436 miles from new! A Lings sales invoice and order form is included in the history file. Despite the low mileage, regular dealer and specialist servicing has been upheld. The original Triumph plastic document wallet houses the handbook and original service book with stamped entries. Furthermore, a collection of receipts and service invoices in the history file includes the most recent service carried out in September 2016 by Triumph Main Dealer, Webbs of Lincoln. The history file also contains both original blue V5 documents and the PDI checklist, as well as previous MOT certificates. Two sets of keys are present with the spare still having the plastic sheath and code tag attached.
A timeless classic machine from Triumph, preserved exactly as the maker intended and guaranteed to delight enthusiasts and collectors alike.
