Factory options; Front seat heaters, front central armrest.

EXTERIOR
The distinctive lines of the W124 Mercedes-Benz Cabriolet are instantly recognisable and this E220 Cabriolet is a fantastic testament to this design cult classic. Finished in iconic Brilliant Silver, (Code 744), the car gleams and is free from the usual rust issues synonymous with most examples, thanks to being garage stored, having low miles and just two doting owners. The original fully insulated electro-hydraulic roof is seamless in operation with virtually no markings and all glass and lenses are factory fitment. The Bosch headlamps are free from stone chips and the front bumper and drivers door handle area has a couple of touch-ins. The wheel arch apertures are extremely clean along with the door shuts. The supplying Mercedes-Benz branded dealer number plate holders remain fitted. Immensely good and already established as a desirable, fashionable and collectable model.

INTERIOR
Luxury and opulence in abundance, a cabin space that was, and in many ways still is, ahead of its time. Features such as electrically adjustable head restraint height to compliment the electric front seats as well as the automatic seat belt feeders hint towards the ‘over engineering’ of the Mercedes-Benz W124. The contoured seats trimmed in sumptuous Black Leather, (Code 261), are ergonomically designed for optimum comfort with lateral support and seat-suspension designed to harmonise with the vehicles actual suspension. The fine wood veneer has a deep rich finish and the needles to the dials are bright orange thanks to being garage stored. The carpets have been protected from new by genuine Mercedes velour mats. The wind deflector and first aid kit are both present in the clean boot area and a replacement Sony head unit was fitted by Mercedes-Benz Gillingham in 2006. Outstanding Mercedes-Benz craftsmanship.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fitted with the reliable and efficient four cylinder 16v unit of 2199cc displacement, the engine produces 150bhp at 5500rpm and 210Nm of torque at 4000rpm. A top speed of 128mph and 0-62 in 12.0 seconds is achieved effortlessly in this well maintained example. The engine bay is very clean with all correct manufacturer labels, tags and stickers still attached along with the under bonnet sound deadening. The four speed automatic transmission operates exactly as the manufacturer intended with smooth changes and positive kick down. Sheer motoring indulgence.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The classic eight-hole Mercedes alloy wheels were refurbished in 2007 and remain in excellent condition shod in premium matching Goodyear 195/65 R15 tyres with ample even tread. The boot area houses an unused spare wheel alongside an unopened original toolkit roll, jack, and warning triangle. Dual-circuit servo braking system with vacuum booster and anti-lock assistance (ABS) offers excellent straight line stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new by Medway Mercedes-Benz Passenger Car Dealer on the 7th July 1997 this prime example has only had two owners from new. Mrs W A Poulter paid the princely sum of £42,950 and remained the owner nearly 22 years until April 2019 when the car was purchased by a Mercedes collector, Mr G Knight. The history file contains every MOT from the first in 2000 to the current, helping to track the minimal 48,443 miles covered every year. A bundle of invoices from Mercedes main dealers and independent specialists in a box file shows the service work carried out with the last service at 47,262 miles. All handbooks, owners manuals and spare keys are included. Representing a fabulous low owner, low mileage W124 Series Cabriolet, this example is sure to please a Mercedes enthusiast.
