EXTERIOR
This amazing Ford Fiesta XR2 has remained with just one owner from new and has been preserved in stunning unmodified condition. The paintwork finished in Ford Rosso Red, (Code R5), has a brilliant deep shine with a uniform finish. All factory panels are pin straight with linear gaps. Miniscule markings in line with the age and the cars unrestored nature are barely noticeable and certainly take nothing away from this stunning Fiesta. The factory original appeal of this special vehicle is accentuated by standard trim sections, bumpers and single body-side coachline. The underside is exceptionally clean with no excess underseal allowing easy inspection with just two professional repairs carried in 2008. All glass pieces are registration etched with a small stone chip to the front screen and all light units are genuine Ford, Kinby and Carello fitment. Even the supplying dealer number plates remain fitted and the unused tax disc holder has been kept! A true Fast Ford icon.
INTERIOR
The interior of this remarkable example is in spotless original condition and exactly as Ford intended. The Monaco trim in Bluestone colour scheme, (Code L4), is beautifully clean and the common vulnerable areas for wear such as the seat bases and bolsters are excellent. All switchgear is functional and intact, and the soft finish dashboard is perfect. The header mounted digital clock retains the correct grey LCD display and the original Ford stereo radio/cassette (Model ESRT 32 PS) remains in place and functional. The hugely difficult to source original trimmed parcel shelf is intact, straight and complete with the correct rubber hangers. An absolute testament to the owner’s devotion to uphold the originality of an all-time Ford great!
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The time proven transverse mounted 1597cc OHC engine with twin-venturi carburettor develops a lively 95BHP at 5750rpm and 132Nm of torque at 4000rpm. In such a lightweight and nimble car, the sense of fun and that unmistakable exhaust note make this car truly addictive! A top speed of 109mph and 0-60 in just 9.3 seconds is eagerly achieved. The engine is quiet and smooth, owing to a lifetime of fastidious care and maintenance, all evidenced in the stamped service book and comprehensive history folder. The engine bay is beautifully clean and unspoilt with factory plates and stickers. The five speed synchromesh gearbox with remote shift is light and a joy to use.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Factory optional Special ‘pepperpot’ 13” X 6” alloys wheel shod in Yokohama 185/60 R13 tyres with ample tread remaining have a few tiny marks with the Ford logo and part numbers clearly visible. The dual line servo assisted brakes with ventilated 9.4” front discs and 7.0” rear drums bring the car up to a steady, straight and assured halt with a full brake overhaul front and rear carried out in July 2020.
