EXTERIOR
The third-generation Toyota Supra was the first generation of the model where bonds with the Toyota Celica were completely cut, the preceding two generations being longer and wider derived versions of the smaller Celica. This beautiful and unspoilt example has thankfully avoided the common fate of modifiers and drifters wanting to exploit the powerful rear wheel drive capabilities. Finished in original Toyota Super Red II, (Code II 3E5), the gorgeous paintwork boasts a deep shine and uniform finish throughout. All factory panels are straight and free from corrosion. The front passenger lower plastic trim has warped slightly and light markings in line with age and use are visible and include touched in frontal chips to the driver’s door edge. The supplying Toyota dealer rear screen sticker and number plates remain fitted with a small crack to the front plate. A gorgeous UK example in super condition.
INTERIOR
Trimmed in the plush Medium Grey Cloth upholstery, (Code FH12), this interior is exactly how Toyota intended, even down to the working Toyota 5199 stereo cassette. The sports seats are hugely supportive and comfortable with unworn fabric and firm bolsters. A small mark to the driver’s seat base in visible. The electronic adjusters to the driver’s seat lumbar and bolsters operate perfectly to find just the right setting and to clamp you in for spirited cornering! All functions and controls operate perfectly, including the air conditioning, and the gauges and dials provide concise readings, just as you would expect from Japanese engineering. The three spoke sports leather steering wheel with cruise control buttons remains in excellent condition. The ultimate luxury long-distance Grand Tourer.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
This high-performance sports car is factory fitted with the Toyota 7M-GE 24V straight -six engine developing 201bhp at 6000rpm and 254Nm torque at 4800rpm, with a top speed of 138mph and 0-60mph in 8.0 seconds. The engine bay is very clean and totally standard and displays the correct factory finish with all original labels, under bonnet sticker, plates and stampings to the bulkhead and slam panel. The A340E automatic ECT 3-speed plus overdrive transmission with lock-up torque converter operates perfectly and offers sublime cruising.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
This Toyota Supra retains its factory fitted 16” alloy wheels which are shod all-round in premium brand Pirelli 225/50 ZR16 tyres with excellent tread remaining. The wheels look superb with no kerb damage whatsoever. The full tool kit and jack are both unused and remain in their separate Toyota storage bags and the original factory Goodyear Eagle VR50 tyre remains in the spotless luggage area. Anti-lock assistance and disc brakes to all four wheels operate perfectly and offer steady straight-line stopping power.
HISTORY FILE
Registered new on 9th November 1989 by Main Dealer, Lingfield Toyota Centre in Surrey, a new car sales invoice in the history file for £16,301.02 is made out to Mr Ecclestone who purchased the car brand new after part exchanging his 1987 Celica GT. Mr Eccelstone cherished the car for 13 years when ownership then transferred to his wife Doreen who owned it for a further ten years.
