EXTERIOR
The unmistakably iconic lines of the classic 964 body are instantly familiar, and this beautiful sought-after late example is finished in a rare Porsche Exclusive Program colour, Amethyst Metallic, (Code L38A). The gorgeous deep metallic colour has a lustrous shine and looks simply wonderful. Only close scrutiny will reveal light markings and touched in chips to the rear wing and driver’s door edge. All trim sections are fully intact with some light aging to the rear light clusters and Porsche flash. The cabriolet hood in Black with clear plastic screen is superb both in condition and operation having been replaced. This prime example has been very well cared for and the condition reflects so.
INTERIOR
Being largely hand assembled, the Porsche 964 model has a quality feel with meticulous attention to detail, and this improved post 1992 example upholds that notion perfectly. Trimmed in original Black Leather and Leatherette, (Code TF), the optional anatomically sculptured sports seats show virtually no wear or colour fade with desirable seat heating. Genuine colour coded Porsche indented velour floor mats protect the undamaged and clean grey carpeting, and all other trim sections and quality plastics are as preserved in excellent order. Large classic backlit dials all function correctly. The front luggage compartment is spotless with the tool kit, jack, brace and electric tyre compressor. The important correct factory code sticker, as duplicated in the Guarantee and Maintenance booklet, is attached to the bonnet lid and the chassis number is clearly stamped. A Porsche interior of supreme quality.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The powerful heart of this 911 Carrera is the famous air cooled, horizontally opposed rear mounted 3.6 litre 250bhp ‘boxer’ engine renown for bullet proof reliability and thrilling performance. Offering a flexible 310Nm of torque, enough to sprint to 62.5mph in 5.7seconds and a top speed of 162mph. Early 964’s being only available as the Carrera 4, this is the widely preferred Carrera 2 often praised for it’s improved weight distribution and agile handling. The desirable 5-speed manual gearbox is reassuringly solid and positive. Absolute Porsche perfection.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Pressure cast light alloy ‘Cup look’ wheels were specified as a factory option and show no kerb damage and only faint markings. The coloured Porsche Crest centres caps, also a factory option, are slightly faded. All four wheels are shod in premium branded Continental ContiSportContact 215/45 R17 front and 235/45 R17 rear tyres with masses of tread remaining. The standard anti-lock braking system is allied to large internally ventilated discs that provide remarkable stopping power. Correct black callipers with the vibrant Porsche inscription are clearly visible through the wide spoke apertures.
HISTORY FILE
This UK C16 964 was registered new on the 4th August 1992 and supplied direct from Porsche Cars Great Britain Limited, the history file is huge and illustrates the meticulous Porsche Main Dealer and Porsche specialist servicing throughout. The original Porsche document pack holds all manuals, guides and dealership point of sale literature as well as the original Guarantee and Maintenance booklet containing 22 stamped entries, the most recent in December 2019 at 78,217 miles. In October 2017 and at 77,084 miles, a major service, general maintenance and renewal of all drive belts was carried out by specialist Brooklands (Kent) Ltd with supporting invoice in the history file for £2,725.18. A documented speedometer change was carried out in 1998 when the car had covered 57,169 miles. Completing the history file is a large neatly organised folder of invoices and previous MOT certificates and there are three Porsche keys with fobs. An original Porsche range brochure is included. The former keeper is an absolute Porsche fanatic owning a number of 911 models including a rare 964 RS and made the difficult decision to sell this car to make way for his soon to arrive new GT4. Nice!
