The boot area houses the original tool kit and full-size spare which still has the original cover and is fixed on top of the rubber matting. Thermostable power-assisted brakes feature a Hydrovac servo unit and Ferodo linings to offer very rapid stopping power, amazing for a 1968 car.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on 29th August 1968, this example is one of just 79 RHD examples sold in the UK and one of just 12 of the later specification cars. The Peugeot 404 Club Registry have 10 remaining cars registered, chassis number 6803095 being one known them. Supplied new by DP Automobiles of Croydon, the then Concessionaires and Importers, the first owner was a retired Publisher, Mr A J Cramp, who owned the vehicle until 1975 when he passed away. Ownership subsequently transferred to good friend and long-term custodian, Mr John Hodge, who kept the car for almost 30 years before selling to renowned vehicle collector, Mr Wesley Shah of Perth, Scotland in 2004. Here, it formed part of an amazing collection including a rare Peugeot 203 Convertible before being sold to Dr Nicholas John Bell in 2010. Dr Bell enjoyed the car immensely covering 10,000 miles of the 36,055 indicated. The final drive was following the Mille Miglia where the car performed faultlessly and received much admiration.

The history file includes the original Peugeot wallet containing the 404 Convertible Petrol Injection instruction book, service centre guide and the original stamped service booklet. Furthermore, the history file holds letters and notes between owners, detailing the cars history and even an old photograph in the original colour of silver. There are many invoices, and receipts as well as previous MOT certificates and workshop manuals. Needless to say, this truly elegant and stunning classic Peugeot is an extremely rare find, even more so in RHD. An amazing addition to even the best car collections.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new as a demonstrator on the 24th October 1990 by Peugeot Main Dealers, Warwick Wright Motors, it became the first and only other private owners pride and joy on the 1st April 1991. Mr Vernon Slaney was absolutely fastidious in the upkeep of the car with a memo book revealing every oil change using only premium Castrol GTX. These oil changes were carried out annually, the last being on the 15th March 2016 at 54,672 miles. The memo book even documents dates of tyre pressure checks and the PSI readings! To supplement this extraordinary home care, visits to the Peugeot Main Dealer, mainly Evans Halshaw in Mansfield, for larger jobs such as timing belt changes were carried out with invoices included in the history file. All handbooks, owner guides, pamphlets and business cards are contained in the black Peugeot A5 wallet. A period sales brochure and spare keys are also included.
A wonderful opportunity to experience 205 CTI wind in the hair fun with an increasingly difficult to find original example.

Front vented discs with floating callipers and rear drums match the performance dynamics perfectly.

INTERIOR
The sumptuous and immensely comfortable interior is typically ‘of the era’ from French manufacturers with large soft seats and plush upholstery.  The Chatsworth Beige velour upholstery is virtually perfect owing to the amazingly low mileage covered.  There are no rips or wear to the bolsters whatsoever, and the carpets, headlining and door cards have been very well preserved.  The fascia and switchgear are as new and the original Clarion 97001E stereo cassette remains fitted.  A spotlessly clean boot area has manufacturer stickers and markings still present and no luggage damage.  A spacious modern classic interior, brilliantly cared for and ready for family classic car outings.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new on the 4th September 1990 by Peugeot Main Agents, Henly’s of York, this wonderful example has covered just 27,847 miles from new with only two keepers.  The first keeper was Mr Stanley Barnes who owned the car for over 25 years!  Upon his passing, the vehicle was rescued from long term storage and purchased in 2015 by Mr Graham Waller of Club Peugeot UK.  His desire to cement a positive future for the car and to ensure its longevity, he embarked on a process of recommissioning this low mileage example including a service, cambelt, water pump and brake overhaul, all evidenced with invoices.

The history file further consists of the dealer supplied Peugeot wallet containing all handbooks, operating guides and point of sale literature.  The service record book contains five stamped entries, the most recent being July 2016 at 27,492 miles.  Furthermore, the history file contains some invoices and previous MOT certificates along with two keys and an original Peugeot 405 sales brochure.  A very capable modern classic Peugeot with low mileage and low owner credentials clear to see.
