A UK Honda Civic Type R EP3 with 42,981 miles and last owner for 11 years.

EQUIPMENT
Dual SRS airbags, ISOFIX child restraint system, side impact beams, front and rear crumple zones, immobiliser, Honda Superlocks, remote central locking, body styling kit, sports grill, rear spoiler, electric windows, electric door mirrors, alloy gear shift knob, Type-R racing style front seats (Alcantara trimmed), leather covered steering wheel with red ‘R’ stitching, high security CD tuner stereo, micro antenna. Factory Options; Air conditioning, adjustable rear head restraints. Dealer accessories; Tailored Type R embossed floor mats.

EXTERIOR
This tremendous flagship Honda Civic Type R is finished in Cosmic Grey Pearl, (Colour Code NH674P). A deep gloss shine to the pin straight factory panels reflects the very low mileage of this pampered example. Minor markings commensurate with the usage extend to little more than light scratches and touched in frontal stone chips as well as a carefully touched in scratch to the offside rear quarter and another to the boot lid. The bumpers, spoilers and trim are fully intact and unscathed and light clusters are clear with none of the common plastic fatigue. This unmolested Type R looks superb and is a fantastic useable example of this modern classic white-hot hatchback.

INTERIOR
An unspoilt and super clean interior is sure to delight the next owner of this example. The brilliant body-hugging Type-R racing style front seats with Alcantara trim throughout, are in fantastic order with firm wear free bolsters and virtually none of the common bobbling to the Alcantara fabric. Huge wings to the front seats, red seat panel inserts and Type R embossment are an unsubtle reminder that this really is no ordinary Civic! The carpets have been protected from new by genuine Type R embossed floor mats and the matching door cards are in excellent order. There are some light marks to the aluminium door pulls and alloy gear shift knob. The aluminium effect fascia is unmarked and the leather steering wheel with bright red stitching is in superb order. The immaculate boot area houses an unused space saver spare wheel along with the full toolkit and warning triangle neatly stowed. The small plaque on the centre console informs you that the car is build number R-34050 and this example has thankfully avoided the modifier brigade.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Little introduction is needed for the engineering wonderment that is Honda’s legendary naturally aspirated engines and their phenomenal capabilities, and the chain driven K20A2 i-VTEC in this EP3 Civic remains in factory standard form. From just a 2.0 litre powerplant, Honda engineers have developed an incredible 197bhp with the VTEC system engaging at 5900rpm and increasing thrust up to an awesome 8050rpm! A top speed of 146mph along with 0-62mph in just 6.8 seconds is enough to embarrass many a performance car with much larger capacity engines. The engine bay is clean and exactly as Honda intended with all factory stickers and plates intact even to the underside of the bonnet. The slick 6-speed manual short-throw gearbox allows rapid slingshot gear changes.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Unique 17-inch seven-spoke alloy wheels are in superb order having been refurbished and wear matching branded Avon 205/45 ZR17 tyres to all four corners showing ample tread. Correct large silver grey callipers are clearly visible through the spokes and hint towards the impressive stopping power with advanced features such as ABS and Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD).

HISTORY FILE
The design of Honda Type R models is primarily based on racing with emphasis placed on minimising weight and maximising performance potential. The red ‘R’ and red Honda badge is a nod towards the racetrack heritage and a tribute to Honda’s first winning F1 car. Manufactured in Swindon, England and build number R-34050, the car was first registered on 29th June 2005. Supplied as a UK car by Honda Main Dealer, Arnold Clark of Manchester, this example has covered just 42,981 miles from new in the hands of dedicated enthusiasts appreciating the car in its standard form. The previous keeper has owned the car for the last 11 years whereby strict garage storage and dry leisure usage has been key to the prime condition.

The original service book contains seven stamped entries with the most recent service carried out in June 2020 using genuine Honda parts. All handbooks, manuals and dealership point of sale literature is included in the leather document wallet and there are two Honda keys with remote fobs. A further history folder contains corresponding service invoices and MOT certificates dating back to the first in 2008 to further verify the genuine low mileage. Completing the history file is an original Honda Type R range brochure. Gaining almost immediate cult status when launched and a ‘must drive’ car for the avid petrolhead, this unspoilt example will not disappoint and is becoming harder to find.

Honda C70-C

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

An original retro UK Honda C70-C Round Light model with 3,600 miles.

MODEL HISTORY
Introduced in 1958, the Honda Cub/Super Cub has been in continuous manufacture ever since and production surpassed 100 million in 2017 making it the most produced motor vehicle in history. The idea for a new 50cc motorcycle was conceived in 1956 when Honda Motor’s Soichiro Honda and Takeo Fujisawa toured Germany and witnessed the popularity of mopeds. The requirement however for the motorcycle to succeed in the developing world was, primarily simplicity, and larger wheels than those of a moped in order to cope with badly surfaced roads, or indeed non-existent roads in rural regions. Another requirement of Takeo Fujisawa was that the bike could be ridden one handed whilst carrying a tray of soba noodles, siting that the vast numbers of soba noodle shops in Japan would no doubt want one as a delivery bike. The iconic and phenomenally successful Honda Cub series is widely credited for mobilising and in large part, revolutionising, the developing world.

EQUIPMENT
Pressed steel underbone frame, 12-volt electrics, capacitor discharge ignition (CDI), polyethylene leg guard/cowling, black and white long seat, rear luggage rack, 3-speed clutchless transmission, fully enclosed drivetrain, horn, primary coupled kick-starter, chrome indicator housing, two adjustable mirrors, Nippon Seiki HO-791 speedometer, odometer, turn signal switch, headlight switch, neutral indicator, rear footrests, helmet lock, side storage with toolkit.

EXTERIOR
This wonderful 1984 C70-C is the more desirable ‘round headlight’ model and this example is finished in factory original Monza Red. Having covered just 3,600 miles from new, this remarkable example has never been restored and still boasts first paint credentials, virtually unheard of. A natural aged patina is entirely forgivable and does not spoil the appearance. All metal is in remarkable shape has never been welded or repaired and the polyethylene leg guard/cowling is incredibly well-preserved with no cracks. The front mudguard displays a small thumbnail size repair. Factory decals below the seat and original stickers and warning labels will further delight originality seekers, as will the factory badges, supplying dealer cowling sticker and plastic sheath over the foot brake pedal. The fully intact black and white seat covering is also factory fitment and the original number plate remains fitted. The toolkit is present in the side locker. All switchgear, lights and instruments are fully functional. This unspoilt C70 is deliciously retro and a fitting tribute to this Honda icon.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The frame identification stamping and identity plate are correct for the a 1984 C70-C and match the vehicle documentation, as does the clearly legible engine number stamp. The 71.8cc engine develops 6bhp, enough to propel this machine to 43mph (depending on the rider’s weight!). The exhaust is a replacement piece in superb order and a very good replication of the original item. The clutchless 3-speed ‘all down’ transmission is easy to use and in perfect working order. Surprisingly nippy and a lot of fun!

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The original 36 spoke chromium plated wheel rims are unrestored and display outer rim stampings. 2.50-17 tyres retain excellent tread and good rubber condition. Waterproof-Dustproof brakes with 110mm front and rear drums perform as they should.

HISTORY FILE
Despite many minor revisions since its launch in 1958, the Honda Cub style and ethos as a bike for the masses has remained constant, and it is no surprise that true iconic status is firmly cemented. This UK supplied C70-C example was registered new on 14th March 1984 by Bridge Street Motor Cycles in Witham, Essex and has covered just 3,600 miles from new with just three owners. The original motorcycle service booklet is present with two stamped entries from the supplying dealer. The first issue blue V5 document made out to first owner, Mr Walter Punt, is in the history folder along with some previous MOT certificates and two original Honda keys still with dealer fob attached!

This example boasts originality credentials rarely found as well as being the more desirable round headlight model. Everything about these bikes is legendary from their go anywhere ability, phenomenal reliability and even the famously successful marketing slogan, “You meet the nicest people on a Honda”, which ran from 1963 for 12 years and is still used today as a marketing case study. An excellent example of one of the most significant motor vehicles ever created.

EQUIPMENT
Special Gold Chrome plating, backbone frame in high tensile tubular steel, telescopic front shock absorbers, swingarm rear suspension, collapsible handlebars, pressed steel wheels, twin rear view mirrors, gold chrome muffler heatshield, luggage rack, mini storage box, lockable helmet holder, side stand, primary kick start, horn, neutral indicator light, speed warning light, speedometer, odometer.

An incredible history file.  Registered new on 1st August 1996 by Honda Main Dealer Westgate Motors of Grimsby, the first owner was BJB Lift Trucks Ltd.  In February 1998, avid Honda enthusiast, Mr David Pool, purchased the car from Chatsworth Honda in Derby.  A vehicle order from and sales invoice from Chatsworth Honda illustrates the price paid in 1998 of £18,499 with £3,000 part exchange allowance for Mr Pool’s Third Generation Prelude.  With a Honda Civic performing daily duties, the Prelude was strictly a dry usage car for best and was kept garaged on a battery conditioner at all other times.  The history file is superb with the original service book containing 20 stamped entries, incredible for a car having covered just 52,051 miles.  All service entries are Honda Main Dealer and specialist, and the switch to specialist servicing occurred when Mr Pool’s trusted Honda Technician left the main dealer and he followed him to the specialist company, wanting only that particular Technician to work on the car!  There are documented cambelt changes and the huge history file contains many supporting Honda service invoices.  The Honda clip wallet contains all handbooks and point of sale literature as well as three sets of original keys, the valet key and code tag taped into the document holder and the red master fob still sealed in the plastic box!  Not content with one set of headlamp covers, Mr Pool purchased a spare set just in case which remain boxed in the boot!

A wonderful touch to the history file is an original sales brochure and incredibly a full mileage and fuel log kept by Mr Pool throughout his entire ownership from 1998 and 18,232 miles to 2017 and 49,205 miles upon his sad passing.  Sold by KGF Classic Cars to Mr Hoult in November 2018 he continued the mileage log and devotion and only selling to purchase another weekend car, a BMW Z4M Coupe.   This vehicle is certain to appeal to a collector of performance classics wanting one of the best, most original low mileage examples in existence.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Factory spoked wheels still display a mirror chrome finish with minor imperfections and correctly sized 2.75-21 front and 3.25-18 rear tyres with ample tread are fitted.  Drum brakes front and rear provide adequate braking.

HISTORY FILE
First registered on the 1st March 1975 this rare UK bike is one of Honda’s earliest trial bikes and represents an iconic piece of Honda history.  The current custodian, Mr Chris Weymouth owned such a motorcycle in 1974 and after just two weeks of ownership was forced to sell it after disapproving parents did not agree with the choice of transport!  Despite this and fast forward 39 years to 2013, Chris managed to acquire another!  The hunt was exhausting with so few ever being available so when this example was offered he had to buy it, it was just like his one in 1974 and in perfect condition.  Lack of use and the itch firmly scratched now means the bike is available for the next lucky custodian.  Offered with a collection of MOT certificates, invoices and a workshop manual.  Three keys with one operating both the ignition and steering lock.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on 17th February 1984 by Honda Main Dealers, Sheaf Motors in Sheffield to a Mr A Green. The purchase invoice reveals a total price of £7443.25 was paid which includes a rear spoiler at £35, body strips at £30 and alloy wheels at £150! Returning to the supplying dealer for servicing until 1994 whereupon a relocation to Grantham entrusted a local garage for regular maintenance. The service book has 14 entries backed by physical invoices. Upon the owners retirement the vehicle was inherited by his son, Mr J Green, who used the vehicle sparingly until 2002 when a total of 42,140 miles had been covered. Every MOT and tax disc has been neatly filed until this point when careful storage followed. Mr J Green made the difficult decision to part with the car knowing it was his fathers pride and joy but they both wished the vehicle to go to a good home. A suitable owner was found by KGF Classic Cars in July 2016 whereby Mr Singgih, an Indonesian national and avid Honda enthusiast, purchased the car having owned the exact model many years ago. His plans to export the car to his home country were sadly thwarted by masses of red tape and associated costs. KGF Classic Cars were delighted to purchase the car back in readiness to find the new lucky enthusiast owner. Every document has been retained, from handbooks to sales brochures when purchased new. The service book still has the Honda Owners Card neatly housed in the pouch to the inside front cover and all keys with dealer key fobs are present. A rare unmolested and fun modern classic.
