Designed in conjunction with Ford Racing Engineers and M-Sport in Cumbria, the RS badge synonymous with the most desirable, high performance Ford vehicles was first introduced to the already accomplished Focus. Equipped with 521 unique WRC inspired components only 4,501 examples were built with 2,147 sold to the UK market. (Source: The Essential Buyers Guide by Dan Williamson)

The paintwork boasts a deep polished shine and uniform finish and all factory panels are pin straight. The bumpers, side skirts and trim sections are in superb condition. The only noteworthy imperfections are a tiny ding to the nearside B-pillar trim and some stone chips to the frontal area. The Ford and special RS badges and Ford main dealer number plates remain fitted as do the original clear film gravel rash guards to the lower rear quarters. This superb example is a credit to this fast Ford icon and presents as a clean, useable example.

INTERIOR
Inside this white-hot Ford are a pair of body-hugging Sparco road-race seats swathed in luxurious Racing Black and Blue Leather and Black Alcantara, (Code AR). The RS and Sparco logos are embossed and stitched into the upholstery, coupled with this are the aluminium fittings, push button start and numbered plaque. The non-double-stitched front seats are correct for an earlier car and the interior is very clean with only very light wear to the driver’s outer bolster and some tiny marks to the dash. The steering wheel blue leather, a known weak point has never been retrimmed and is bright and unworn. The near impossible to source RS front carpet mats remain with the car but stored in the boot to preserve with a second set of Focus mats for usage. The number 0571 plaque is present and the green starter button without ‘engine start’ lettering is correct for the earliest cars. Ford built this car to truly delight its motorsport loving RS devoted fan base and the long-awaited car did not disappoint.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fitted with the thumping Ford 2.0 Duratec RS four-cylinder 16v unit the power output achieved is 212bhp at 5500rpm and 310Nm torque at 3500rpm. The maximum speed is 144mph while 0-60 is dispatched in just 6.4 seconds! The engine bay is clean with factory plates, stickers and labels visible. Correct for an earlier build car is the black throttle cable ‘trumpet’ grommet with blue collar. The sturdy Ford MTX-75 gearbox offers the ultimate rally road car experience.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The unique 8 x 18in Oz Racing refurbished rims are unmarked with perfect RS centre caps. Michelin Pilot Sport 225/40 ZR18 tyres are fitted all-round with excellent tread. In lew of the spare wheel is the factory supplied compressor and unopened tyre sealant. Pristine Brembo 4-pot callipers are visible through the large spoke apertures and 324mm ventilated front and 280mm rear discs provide immense stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
Factory build records confirm that number 0571 rolled of the production line on the 27th November 2002 ready to be dispatched the supplying Main Dealer, CD Brammall Ford in Milton Keynes. Date of first registration was the 23rd January 2003 and the car has now covered just 25,007 miles from new with only three owners. Huge demand meant long waiting lists, even pre-launch, and so eager customers were prepared to pay well over odds to acquire one of these limited production cars. The previous owner purchased 0571 in 2016 for a record price at the time having always regretted selling the example he purchased brand new in 2003 following the first successful spell at his fledgling business. A true blue-oval enthusiast, the car formed part of his collection alongside a Mk2 Escort RS2000 and Mk1 Cortina.

The comprehensive history file contains all original handbooks, guides and special RS supplement which are contained within the Ford leather RS wallet. There are 15 recorded services evidenced in the stamped service book and accompanying invoices in the huge history file. All servicing has been carried out by Ford Main Dealers or specialists and the most recent service was in September 2023 at 24,925 miles. Three keys are present along with both RS alarm fobs and a RS cherished registration number has remained on since new.

Pure blue-oval brilliance and firmly a modern classic.

HISTORY FILE
What an incredible history file tracking this ultra-rare Mk1 Ford Cortina Standard Fleet model. Ordered on the 2nd May 1966 by Mr Clifford Chambers, a British Forces Headmaster posted at Johor, Malaysia through the Holly Motor Company Ltd as detailed on the new car invoice in preparation for his return to the UK. The Ford Motor Company Ltd Dagenham release document confirms the specification and delivery to Regent Street for UK first registration on the 22nd June 1966. Owned by Mr Chambers and his wife for the next 45 years and one Ford Cortina guru, James Clarke since 2011, this example has only had three owners from new in 57 years! In readiness for Mr Chambers next posting to Germany he also ordered continental headlamps, (now replaced with genuine Lucas items), and an anti-theft steering lock totalling £3.85! The car made a trip to Germany and the Townsend Car Ferries window sticker is still in the history file but continual tax discs from May 1967, MOT certificates and annual Ford main dealer servicing by Sparkes Garages in Bristol proves its UK home.

Once Britain’s best-selling car, the Standard Cortina Saloon or Fleet Model was marketed by Ford as ‘offering outstanding performance with economy; the lowest cost car in its class. An ideal vehicle for everyday business or for the family man who wants maximum saloon-car space at minimum cost.’ Correctly identified by the BA72 chassis number the Mk1 Ford Cortina Owners Club have established this as one of just 34 UK Fleet Models known to exist. In comparison, 486 Lotus Cortina are known to the Club! Furthermore, the Club have confirmed only three 4dr Aeroflow cars are known to exist worldwide. (Source: Marc Gimmel – Cortina MK1 Register). Highly regarded within the Mk1 Cortina Owners Club and previously owned by James Clarke since 2011, (the once proud owner of a concours 2dr Fleet Cortina KGF Classic Cars also now own), this example has won National Supreme Champion and Best Rare Model along with many more awards.

This stunning Orion is finished in deep cherry red having been subject to a full repaint in 2014. The paint finish is uniform with a deep shine while the critical eye will note some signs of wear in particular cracks to the paint on the front bumper and rear spoiler, very light paint blebs throughout visible only on close inspection and some dings. The sunroof is fully operational and all glass and light fittings are intact. The underside is very solid with no structural issues. The car looks fantastic and is very highly regarded within the retro Fast Ford community and Orion Register.

INTERIOR
A somewhat purposely understated interior with subtle hints towards the epic power specification this Orion boasts! The upholstery is courtesy of an Orion Ghia Injection including seats and doors cards and front RS Turbo Recaro seats professionally re-upholstered to match. The seats are in good condition and the huge bolsters to the Recaro’s firm and unworn. The carpets and headlining are clean and genuine Ford rubber waffle mats are fitted front and rear. Perfectly comfortable and usable with some delicious 90’s themed features!

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The engine has been professionally built and mapped to a huge specification by renowned Harvey Gibbs Cosworth Specialist of Supreme Car Services in Peterborough. The previous owner of 13 years, Pete, was adamant the car would be driven and enjoyed yet was insistent on longevity and the reliability of an everyday car. His primary goal was to ensure the car took him without demur to Ford Fair each year and to never be one of the bonnet-up classic Fords seen in the traffic jams approaching the Silverstone event! To this end the engine speciation is capable of huge power increases yet is currently Dyno-Tested at around 200-220bhp, still more than twice the original output from what started life as an Orion 1.3L! Putting this power down is through an RS Turbo LSD gearbox. A totally exhilarating driving experience and utterly dependable.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Compomotive MO5 7½ x 16″ alloys wheels are in very good order and wear 195/45 R16 Toyo Proxes performance tyres with masses of tread. Sapphire Cosworth front brakes with braded hoses and RS Turbo rear drums are well capable of harnessing the increased engine power.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on the 15th December 1989, this Ford Orion began life as a humble 1.3L of which it remained until around 2010. The previous owner of thirteen years, Pete, purchased the car as a weekend toy and project car to go alongside his daily transport, a 1988 Orion 1.8 diesel! Over the past thirteen years Pete has embarked on a mission to build the ultimate Orion Turbo for which his efforts have won the car multiple page features in both FastFord and Performance Ford. The build has been fully documented and a photo album shows the car throughout the various stages up to the present day and the full specification is carefully recorded. The comprehensive folder of invoices, photo album and magazines are included in the history file and the cost to create this retro car is beyond belief!

Not meeting the usual KGF Classic Cars stock profile in terms of condition one credentials and a wide deviation from standard, but not detracting from the cars overall excellent attributes, we are offering this example for sale on a part exchange to clear basis. The car looks superb and performs as such and represents huge Max Power nostalgic fun. There are two sets of keys. Full inspection and test drive is welcome.

Professionally repainted in Durham Beige, the paintwork is uniform and has a fantastic shine. The bodywork in is superb condition, a far cry from the usual bodged up repairs seen on most examples. Subtle reversible modifications give the van a brilliant stance so suited to this model. The ideal classic commercial and a dream promotional vehicle!

INTERIOR
Revert back to far a simpler era of motoring whereby manufacturers were even meaner to commercial vehicle drivers and the luxuries of a passenger seat and heater were factory cost options! The original buyer of this example was willing for a passenger to be carried and cared that they stayed warm! Remarkably, the original seats remain fitted and are in good order with some tiny splits to the lower bases. The utilitarian nature of the vehicle is quite evident with the ethos being around having just what you need and nothing else, however the equipment and gauges it does have are in fine working order. The huge painted steering wheel and wand type gear stick are simply delightful. The load area has a rubber floor mat to protect and side mounted spare tyre with original style jack and brace. The inner load area panels and inner wheel tubs are in excellent condition. Hugely reminiscent of a bygone era of vans and immense fun!
