A brilliant polished finish to the paintwork is hugely pleasing to onlookers and only minor finish imperfections can be seen upon intense inspection. Structurally excellent and with pin straight panel fit, this example has been beautifully preserved with remedial cosmetic refurbishment. The extensive Deluxe chrome work including the boot lid badge is largely in superb order although some brightwork pieces display minor pitting. The rubbers have aged and show some perishing. A charming example guaranteed to draw much admiration

INTERIOR
The spacious interior of this remarkable Ford Anglia is a collectors dream. The two-tone PVC seat trim complements the exterior beautifully in light and dark green. The door cards, washable plastic headlining and ornamental metal dash is pristine and only the driver’s seat shows slight aging. Deluxe features all remain fitted such as the two rear ashtrays, demister shrouds in bright metal and a virtually unworn flecked coloured rubber floor covering. All controls, gauges and switches function perfectly. The boot area still houses the correct protective floor covering and rubber spare wheel strap with factory jack. Simply divine.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The heart of this Anglia is the brilliant 4-cylinder, water cooled 997cc engine which was new at the time and introduced the famous Kent code name to Ford. Technical innovations allowed 39bhp and 53lbs/ft of torque to be produced while returning 40 plus mpg. Ford claimed in their sales brochures it was ‘more akin to a six cylinder unit!’ The engine bay is clean but not detailed and displays factory information plates. The close-ratio 4-speed gearbox with a snap-through change is fabulous. As factory standard, there is no synchromesh on first gear.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Pressed steel wheels with wide base rims are fitted with immaculate and bright metal hubcaps. New 145/80 R13 tyres are fitted . Hydraulic internal expanding 8” drum brakes with two leading shoes up front stop this light car admirably.

HISTORY FILE
First registered on the 12th March 1962 this cherished example has only had five former keepers. Enthusiast owned throughout with much period literature including a sales brochure, schedule of maximum repair charges and a pamphlet entitled, ‘your new Anglia…’ all make fascinating reading. A collection of MOT certificates spanning 37 years and documents pertaining to the Ford Anglia 105E Owners Club complete the file.

Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

The Holy Grail, a Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth with only 40,057 miles

MODEL HISTORY
The Sierra RS Cosworth project was defined in the spring of 1983 by the then recently appointed head of Ford Motorsport in Europe. It was established that at the time, Ford was no longer competitive in this area. After receiving full support from Ford Public Relations, the project was underway with the Sierra chosen as the basis for the project. Ford Motorsport in Europe approached the automotive company Cosworth who answered positively, but put up two conditions: The street version of the car had to produce no less than 204 HP, and Ford had to accept no less than 15,000 engines. Few cars have ever been greeted with such enthusiasm as the original Sierra RS Cosworth, perhaps only the exclusive 500 cars that were developed to become an evolution edition, unbeatable on the track. Aston Martin at Tickford were assigned with converting the 500 cars, which in 1987 were to be announced as the RS500. Engineering differences aside, largely the cars were aesthetically similar to the standard Cosworth. The main differences being the additional boot mounted spoiler, discrete badges and the revised front bumper to aid improved cooling. This included the removal of the front fog lamps as standard, but with the dealerships offering reinstatement as an optional extra.

EQUIPMENT

The exterior of this Mk1 Escort is superb in every respect.  Finished in Diamond White, (colour code B5), it has a deep gloss shine which is outstanding and an absolute joy to polish.  All the chrome trim is mirror bright and the 1300L wing badges remain fixed.  The matt black front grill section is slightly chipped.  The glass is the correct Ford Triplex factory fitment and window rubbers are black thanks to careful indoor storage.  Ziebart plugs are visible revealing previous owner care and offering rust protection.  A true survivor escaping the almost inevitable 2dr conversion to create an RS2000 or Mexico replica.  Wonderful.

INTERIOR
The interior of this Escort 1300L is beautifully preserved thanks in part to the low owner/mileage credentials.  The original twin reclining front bucket seats are covered in black vinyl, (code AA) with no damage.  All the headlining is tight and clean, and the black deep looped pile carpets are in remarkable order.  All the gauges operate as does the two speed heater fan. There is a small nick in the drivers door card and the rocker switches have faded slightly.  A period radiator blind pull cord has been fitted from new.  The boot area including original covering, spare wheel and jack are present.  This car really is a beautiful, unspoilt place to be and largely how Ford intended.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
A clean engine bay is home to the original 1298cc OHV engine which fires up immediately and provides a delightful engine note.  With 57bhp, 0-60mph in 15.9 seconds and a top speed of 90mph current day usage is possible.  The diaphragm spring type clutch feels positive and smooth with a precise four speed gearbox.  An absolute joy to operate and a true reflection of the low mileage this car has covered.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The standard pressed steel wheels with original chrome centre caps remain on the car and are shod with Goodyear GT 175/R12 tyres with masses of tread.  The wheels and hub caps are in outstanding condition.  The all-round drum brakes feel assured and bring the car up to a straight and prompt halt.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on the 19th March 1975 this Mk1 Escort would have been one of the final cars off the production line and has had just two private owners from new before being part exchanged in March 1991 to Ford main agents, Tim Norton in Oakham.  Mr Norton himself was so impressed with the condition that he kept the car in his own private collection and remained the cars custodian to the present day!  Not content with some minor blemishes when first acquiring the car he commissioned his own team of trained Ford personnel to work on the vehicle and make it a show piece for events and promotions.  Quite literally a time capsule from the seventies and now available to a lucky individual.

EXTERIOR
This adrenalin-pumping Ford Fiesta XR2 has been preserved in stunning, completely original condition.  The paintwork finished in factory Paris Blue, (code 35), has a brilliant gloss shine with a uniform finish thanks to being garaged from new.  All original panels are straight with linear gaps and date stamped.  Three touched in marks have been left untreated to maintain factory paint and certainly take nothing away from this stunning Fiesta.  The time warp appeal of this special vehicle is accentuated by standard trim sections, bumpers and the single body-side coachline, correct and in immaculate order.  The supplying dealer number plates remain fitted and the 80’s red rear screen XR2 decal remains in place.  A true fast Ford icon and probably the best available.

INTERIOR
The interior of this remarkable example is in spotless factory fresh condition and exactly as Ford intended.  The Rainbow cloth trim is beautifully clean and the common vulnerable areas for wear such as the seat bases and bolsters are as new.  The colour-keyed velour carpet is clean and full having been protected from new by Ford rubber over mats and the unique perforated grey headlining is perfect.  All switchgear is functional and intact, and the soft finish dashboard undamaged.  An orange alarm light has been fitted to a switch blanking plate, easily replaced.  Labels, boot stickers and Ford tags remain attached.  The gear knob and small diameter steering wheel are squeaky clean with veins clearly visible and the supplying dealer tax disc holder is present.  The header mounted digital clock retains the correct grey LCD display and the original Ford radio/cassette (model RST21P) remains in place.  The hugely difficult to source original trimmed parcel shelf is intact, straight and complete with the correct rubber hangers.  Devine.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The potent free-revving 1597cc OHC engine develops a lively 96bhp at 6000rpm which in such a lightweight car enables 0-60mph in 8.7secs and a top speed of 112mph.  The smooth five speed synchromesh gearbox with remote shift is light and exact, a joy to use and that unmistakable exhaust note makes this car truly addictive!

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Five Special ‘pepperpot’ 13” X 6” alloy wheels have never been refurbished still showing clear definition to factory stampings and very light marks to the outermost rims are barely noticeable.  Still shod in the original factory issued Pirelli P600 185/60 R13 tyres to all five alloys it is advised these are replaced if the car is to be used regularly.  The dual line servo assisted brakes with fade fighting ventilated 9.4” front discs and 7.0” rear drums would benefit from use but are MOT compliant.
