EXTERIOR
This top of the range for luxury Sierra Sapphire 2000E draws its origins from Ford’s ‘E for Executive’ suffix tradition used mostly in the 1970’s and reserved for only the highest specification cars. The 2000E Sapphire was in fact the final car to be given the hallowed ‘E’ badge, shortly after the Orion 1600E, and this 13,744-mile example is a fitting tribute. Finished in Tu-Tone Metallic Flint Grey over Moonstone Blue, (Code T 9), the paintwork looks fantastic and boasts a bright uniform finish and polished shine. In the ownership of elderly husband and wife from new until 2013 and suffering from some parking scrapes and knocks, remedial paintwork has been carried out in order to uphold the beautiful appearance. All panels are straight and undamaged and the trim sections are in excellent order. A hairline compression crack in the paint to the front bumper is only very minor. All glass is etched factory fitment to include Carello headlamps and Ford light clusters including the security etched rear lenses. Badges are immaculate and dealership branded number plates and rear screen sticker remain fitted. Even the headlamp wash/wipe system operates! This is a very rare and highly collectable Sierra.

INTERIOR
The opulent full leather trim in Shadow Grey colour scheme, (Code L X), is spotlessly clean, sublimely comfortable and in superb order with only the faintest of crease lines in the leather to the driver’s seat bolster. The matching door cards in Starline fabric with vinyl inserts have some very minimal shrinkage, a common occurrence. The fully intact dashboard has no cracks whatsoever and all equipment and functions operate as they should with exception of the air-conditioning which does not blow ice-cold. The digital fuel computer and clock and graphic information module function correctly with perfect displays. The original Ford stereo radio/cassette (Model 2007) with separate power amplifier sounds superb! The spotless boot area has immaculate carpeting, an undamaged circular ply-board wheel cover and all factory build stickers are intact.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 2.0 DOHC EFi engine develops 125bhp at 5500rpm and 174Nm of torque at 2500rpm, achieving a top speed of 121mph and 0-60mph in 9.1 seconds. Remaining in standard specification, the engine bay is clean and displays factory plates, stickers and original wings with Ford emblem and date stamps visible. The five-speed MT-75 synchromesh gearbox is sturdy and precise.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The original 14” X 5½ ” alloy wheels were unique at the time to the 2000E model and are in excellent condition with no kerb damage and tiny markings found only upon very close scrutiny. Matching premium brand Uniroyal Rain Expert 195/65 R14 tyres were fitted new in 2019 and the spare wheel has the original Dunlop SP Sport D8 tyre still fitted! The dual line servo assisted G-Valve brakes with ventilated 10.5” front discs and rear drums bring the car up to a steady, straight and assured halt.

HISTORY FILE
A car with quite a story. Built in September 1973 and registered new on the 8th October 1973, the car has covered just 25,105 miles from new in the hands of only three owners. The first owner, Mr Brian Searle, worked for the supplying Ford Main Dealer, H. C. Smith & Son Ltd of Tadley, and instantly fell in love with the 2000E when it was launched to replace the GXL in late 1973. This Sebring Red car was one of the first 2000E’s received into stock and Mr Searle simply had to have one! These early launch specification 2000E models still had GXL stamped on the identification plate and other unique features. In a twist of perhaps veiled fortune, Mr Searle received a promotion the following year and gained a company car in the form of a Ford Granada. Not willing to part with his beloved Cortina, it was placed into hibernation in his Mother in Law’s heated garage where it remained for 24 years! In 1998 the reluctant decision was made to sell the car to colleague, Mr Neil Blaxhill, who cherished the car for 19 years with sunny day usage only. In 2017 the car was sold to the third and final owner, Mr Mathew Perkins, a car collector who embarked on tours of North Yorkshire in the car and even France! KGF Classic Cars are immensely proud to have acquired what is quite possibly the best unrestored Mk3 Cortina 2000E in existence.

This is the ultimate collectors Mk3 Cortina in exceptional original condition that is virtually unheard of.

True to his word, Mr Lee sold the car back to the garage in 2016 where it has remained in Mr Allen’s care and in his private Ford collection. Working in the industry with trade insurance, Mr Allen has never registered the car in his name so it remains, one registered keeper on the registration document. A letter in the history file confirms this ownership.

All original handbooks, guides and special RS supplement are contained within the Ford leather RS wallet. Two keys with RS fobs are present. This car is not only amazing in its condition but in its history too making this what must be, one of the finest Mk1 Focus RS examples currently available.

HISTORY FILE
Assembled at the Ford Saarlouis Plant, Germany in April 1985 and registered new on the 16th August 1985 on a ‘C’ plate prefix, this very late MK3 XR3i was supplied new by Ford Main Dealers Bristol Street Motors Limited of Birmingham. Previous long term owner, Mr Phillip Woods who in fact has owned the car twice, was a regular attendee on the Ford Fair Concours and show scene in the mid to late 1990’s and the car won many awards. Entered bi-annually in the Ford XR Owners Club National Days in 1996,1997,1998 and 1999, the car won in the Standard Factory Class on all eight occasions with trophies still with the car! The car was always trailered to shows but secretly driven off close to the venue resulting in less preparation time before the show! It was kept in a heated garage at all other times. In 2001, Mr Woods made the decision to sell, something he soon became to regret, but as luck would have it, he spotted a classified advert with it for sale in Edinburgh in 2004 whereby he promptly took a flight from Staffordshire and drove the car home!

A neatly presented history folder contains a huge file of receipts and Ford main dealer invoices as well as previous MOT certificates dating back to the very first in 1988. There are two sets of original keys and one key fits all locks. Sold by KGF Classic Cars to Mark Bailey, creator of the famous Bonkers Collection in January 2020 only to be part-exchanged against our 17,000 mile Series One RS Turbo. This outstanding XR3i will appeal to a serious collector or enthusiast wanting a fabulous proven example of an iconic and fast appreciating icon that has played a huge part in the history of Fast Fords.
