EXTERIOR
With one owner from new, 22,107 miles and full Ford main dealer service history, this original and totally standard Focus ST is one for the collector, especially in the desirable top of the range ST-3 guise. A preferred 3-door version in factory optional and highly sought-after Electric Orange, (Code 7 4), which was the signature launch colour. The stunning paintwork is virtually unmarked and all panels are pin straight. The underside is super clean and even fragile labels to the underside components remain intact. Ford main dealer number plates are fitted. The rubber scuttle trim has lifted ever so slightly to the offside edge. Unmolested examples with such outstanding credentials are rarely found and this car will delight even the most ardent blue-oval scrutineer.

INTERIOR
Inside this Fast Ford are the original body-hugging Recaro sports seats swathed in full leather, (Code A 5), and the rear sculptured bench offers the 4-seater configuration, both as per the premium ST-3 specification. The Recaro logos are embossed into the hide which is preserved in perfect condition thanks to the one and only keeper fitting seat covers from new. His desire to preserve the car extends even to resisting the urge to remove the blue factory cellophane protector from the door sill tread plates! The ST Sports steering wheel, jet black headlining, submarine lighting, brushed aluminium gear knob and handbrake grip and racing pedals help to carry on the Fast Ford tradition of injecting excitement into everyday family cars. Low mileage indicators such as unworn touch points are evident and there are a few pixels that have faded not impacting the readings at all. All functions and controls operate and the air conditioning is ice cold. Difficult to distinguish from a 2006 Ford showroom car.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fitted with the turbo-charged Ford 2.5 Duratec ST five-cylinder 20v unit with Variable Valve Timing, the power output achieved is 225bhp at 6000rpm and 320Nm torque at 4000rpm. The maximum speed is 152mph while 0-60 is dispatched in just 6.8 seconds! The totally standard engine bay is spotlessly clean with factory plates, stickers and labels visible. The Ford Durashift 6-speed gearbox is magnificent to use with precise short throw changes and the sound from the five-pot turbo charged engine is awesome!

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The unique 8 x 18in ST five-spoke rims with correct centre caps are unrestored with no kerb damage. Close inspection reveals very slight tarnishing to the inner spokes which does not spoil the appearance and has been left untreated in order to uphold total originality. Premium brand Goodyear 225/40 ZR18 tyres are fitted all-round with the front two items replaced in November 2020. In lieu of a spare wheel and correct for the ST model is the original Continental zip case with compressor and untouched tyre sealant. A space saver is also included. The braking system with ABS and electronic brake-force distribution incorporates discs all round and provides sure footed stopping power to match the formidable performance.

EXTERIOR
Ford Motor Company’s ‘New Edge’ design language began with the original Ka as the first production Ford to adopt the radical exterior styling mostly recognised with its use of intersecting arcs and crisp lines. This exceptional Ka Collection has covered just 9,705 miles from new and is finished in factory original Vitro Metallic, (Code Z2). The bodywork and paint finish are simply outstanding with only a few miniscule markings. Cosseted by two family member owners from new, this garaged Ka has none of the common bodywork issues often found and the amazing underside still displays factory labels, long lost on most examples. All trim sections are perfect and Ford main dealer number plates are fitted. Far superior to the usual offerings and without question one of the best low mileage cars in existence.

INTERIOR
The interior of this cossetted example is beautifully clean and free from wear. The original Squeeze fabric upholstery in Aqua Jade colour scheme, (Code JE), is spotless with no wear or damage to the fabric whatsoever. The carpets are pristine and are protected by Ford Ka carpet mats and the headlining is perfect. The leather steering wheel has very slight deterioration, a common issue, but this does not detract from a remarkably well-preserved cabin space. The funky blob style fascia and incorporated switchgear is as new and all functions operate seamlessly including the original Model 6000 stereo CD. Likewise, the spotless load space boasts an unmarked carpet underneath which the boot floor is as new. Clean, fresh and totally unspoilt.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on 6th May 2004 by Main Dealer, Heartlands Ford of Birmingham, the car was purchased by Mrs Barbara Mack. The vehicle order form and sales invoice confirm the price paid of £7,674.99 including pre-registration vehicle discount. Mrs Mack used the vehicle sparingly in retirement and kept the car garaged at all times when not in use. In 2017 her Great Niece turned 17 years of age and needed her first car. Miss Charlotte Ellis became the next and only other keeper, at which point the car had covered less than 4500 miles. Charlotte has continued to cherish her Great Aunt’s Ka, the condition of which is a credit to them both and a tear was shed when sold.

The history file contains the vehicle zip wallet containing the handbooks, guides and radio booklet as well as point of sale documentation and new vehicle handover checklists. Every MOT certificate from the very first in 2007 fully verifies the exceptionally low mileage and there is a folder of service and maintenance invoices all from the same service centre that has looked after the car for many years. Completing the history file is an original Ka sales brochure along with two original Ford keys.

Debate over the pronunciation of the name Ka has continued since launch and whether it is to be said with a long or short “a”, or with the letters pronounced separately. Even Ford’s confused press office has used all three but the official Ford stance is with a short “a”! Whichever way you may wish to say it, the first examples are soon approaching 25 years old and the humble Ford Ka represents a superb value entry into classic car ownership, even more so with this incredible preserved example with just 9,705 miles from new!

Ford Fiesta Mk1 Million

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A Ford Fiesta Mk1 Million with just 25,502 miles and one of 11 known survivors!

MODEL HISTORY
In February 1979 and after just 29 months of production, the Mk1 Ford Fiesta hit a major milestone with the one millionth car to roll off the production line. It was the fastest growth to a million sales recorded by any European Ford. To celebrate this incredible landmark occasion Ford released a limited-edition version based on the Fiesta L model and named it the Fiesta Million, or Millionth Edition as it sometimes known. Ford’s Dagenham factory produced just 3,100 Fiesta Million vehicles and they were available in Black or Strato Silver and came equipped with many distinctive features. (Source: Project Bobcat & Motor Sport Magazine Feb 1979)

EQUIPMENT
All steel welded construction, louvred design radiator grille, rear fog light, front air dam, laminated windscreen, tailgate wash/wipe, single tone horn, hazard warning flashers, interior light, 2-speed heater fan, two speed plus flick wipe wipers, foot operated windscreen washer, warning lights for oil pressure, high beam and ignition on, brake fluid level warning indicator. Special Edition ‘Fiesta Million’ equipment; Red decals, all-black bumpers with red bumper inserts, passenger door mirror, black window surrounds, reverse lamp, tinted glass, wider steel wheels, chequered ‘Scott’ seat fabric, headrests, centre console, Quartz clock, radio cassette, heated rear window, Factory Options; Sunroof. Dealer Accessories; Mud flaps, ‘Fiesta Million’ carpet mats.

EXTERIOR
The special edition Ford Fiesta Million was available in just two colours, standard Ford Black and this, Strato Silver Metallic, (Code V6). The car looks superb thanks to the very low 25,502 miles covered and sympathetic historic remedial paintwork carried out to uphold the look. Close scrutiny will reveal a structurally perfect example that has never seen weld repairs and light age-related markings and blemishes throughout. The original decals and badges are preserved and purists will be amazed to see factory fitted glass all round with registration number etching. Incredibly, even the rear wheel arch lip factory date stamps have survived fully visible, almost unheard of for a Mk1 Fiesta! This ultra-rare and historically important Fiesta Million is a really unique find.

INTERIOR
A wonderfully period and time warp interior. Fiesta Million cars were based on the humble Fiesta L model but featured many extras including the exclusive chequered ‘Scott’ seat fabric, (Code A1). This was very similar in design to the Carla Fabric used in the Fiesta Supersport. Remaining exactly as Ford intended, the preserved upholstery is commensurate with the low mileage and has suffered no rips or colour fade whatsoever and nothing other than very light wear to the top corner of each front seat back. The loop pile carpets are protected by specially made Million logo velour mats and the perforated headlining is fully intact. The door cards are unmarked. All equipment, switches and gauges function including the quartz clock and heater fan on both speed settings. There is a hairline crack to the dash front and the padded dash top is perfect homing an identical model car and a Saint Pio of Pietrelcina.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fiesta Million buyers could choose either the 957cc engine or in this instance, the 1117cc unit producing a whopping 53bhp! This higher-powered option remains totally factory standard and performance figures include a quoted top speed of 90mph. The engine bay is wonderfully clean, unmolested and displays factory plates and stickers as well as panel stampings to the original inner wings. Coloured PDI dabs are visible, long lost on most examples. The engine sings into life effortlessly with the familiar Fiesta exhaust note and the driving experience is surprisingly nippy and very retro! The four speed all synchromesh gearbox precisely slots into each gear. A real joy to use.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The original steel wheels are in immaculate condition and wear period additions in the form of outer embellishers, bright wheel nut finishers and Ford valve caps, all easily removable if the new owner so wishes. Matching branded 145/80 R12 tyres have masses of tread and no cracks and the original and unused Goodyear Grand Prix X remains in the storage compartment under the boot floor. Standard fitment with the 1100 OHV engine are servo assisted brakes featuring 8.7in front discs and self-adjusting 7.0in rear drums.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new by Ford Main Dealers, Lincoln Street Motors Ltd of Birmingham, on the 3rd May 1979, this genuine Fiesta Million has covered just 25,502 miles from new. Mr F.G Payne purchased the car for his wife, Beatrice Payne, who is the first named owner on the original blue V5 document. The car remained in the Payne family for 29 years in their home town of Solihull until 2008, at which point it was purchased by a collector in Southern Ireland. There are photographs in the history file of the car being homed in a wonderful collection in Ireland and now the car has returned back to the UK with full DVLA registration undertaken. The original service booklet, handbook and Fiesta accessories brochure are present and there are many vehicle service and maintenance invoices made out to Mrs Payne along with previous MOT certificates and two sets of keys.

To emphasise just how special this Fiesta Million is, out of the 3,100 made there are only eleven know to exist and this car is the only one known to be on the road according to source, Project Bobcat, a dedicated Fiesta Mk1 website where further details, vehicle records and articles are shown here. A perfect and insanely rare addition to any classic Ford collection.

All exterior trim items and decals are in excellent order other than a few touched in marks to the bonnet. Once owned by the Branch Secretary of the Capri Club International, the car was a concourse show winner in the 1990’s and still presents beautifully today thanks to the low mileage and warm storage conditions. All the original glass is number plate etched with Identicar. Period accessories in the form of driving lamps and Yale locks, (no longer operational), were added in the late 1980’s and in 1993 a thin coat of Waxoyl was applied to the underside at a cost of £23.50! Incredibly this is still visible today helping to preserve the car and all the factory splendour.

INTERIOR
The interior is distinguished by Recaro sports seats fully trimmed with luxurious, high quality Raven leather with Burgundy piping. Full structural integrity is clearly visible with only minor wear to the drivers bolster. The deep pile grey carpeting is plump and unworn having been protected by tailored carpet mats and the black perforated headlining is tight and clean with a hole hidden behind the passenger sunvisor. The leather covered steering wheel and gear knob are in prime condition commensurate with the low miles covered. Amazingly there are absolutely no cracks to the dash and the dials, switches and controls are brilliantly clear. All controls and gauges function including the two-speed heater fan, analogue quartz clock and electronic radio cassette player with electric aerial. The rear parcel-shelf is incredible and the boot area remains spotless. Electric windows and central locking are discreet accessories to an interior otherwise exactly true to the manufactures intentions and an 80’s icon.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The Capri 2.8i was entrusted to Fords Special Vehicle Engineering group, (SVE), who added a Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection system, an oil/water heat exchanger, viscous coupled fan and an improved radiator making this models 158 BHP capable of 130mph and 0-60mph in 7.9 seconds. The engine is smooth and quiet whilst producing an unmistakable burble through a replacement stainless exhaust. Correct factory under bonnet identification plates are intact with the ‘Brooklands’ inscription clearly visible. Exhibitionists will be proud to lift the bonnet for spectators to marvel at. The 5 speed gearbox is light and progression through the range is precise.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
This 280 Capri is fitted with the factory correct and unique 7-spoke 7X15 inch alloy wheels and have never been refurbished showing minor markings. Pirelli P6000 195/50 ZR50 tyres are fitted and the spare is still the original Pirelli Cinturato P7 tyre. The hydraulic dual-line servo-assisted brakes with ventilated front discs unique on the 2.8i stop the car quickly and in a straight line and reconditioned calipers were fitted in June 2019.

HISTORY FILE
Coveted by collectors the limited edition Capri 280 is the most difficult ‘car you promised yourself’ as only 1038 were produced to celebrate the last of a famous line. GG11595 is build number 737 and has only had four former keepers from new, all of which were passionate enthusiasts. Registered on the 26th March 1987 the car was sold to Laurie Mullett in May 1988. He was the Branch Secretary of the Capri Club International and doted on the car before selling to fellow enthusiast Robert Francis. Mr Francis writes a fascinating feature in the Capri Club International magazine in March 1993 describing the agonising search and eventual purchase from fellow club member, Laurie. The car was then the sold in the mid-nineties to Mr Keith and Sue Smith from Gomeldon Salisbury in Wiltshire who were Ford Capri fanatics owning up to four Capris at one time in the nineties, this car being their pride and joy and only using it for car shows each year up to 2016. Mr Keith Smith maintained this car himself to the highest standards servicing the car every year of ownership regardless of the miles covered, some years covering under 200 miles with annual MOT certificates to prove. A letter in the history file from Keith and Sue Smith to the last and current owner, Mr Don Birkinshaw in 2017, explains they were ‘absolutely gutted in having to sell due to ill health’ and that they ‘met lots of lovely people with it’. The car was affectionately known as Brookv. Mr Birkinshaw purchased the car from South Western Vehicle Auctions Limited for £35,084 in July 2017 and has religiously maintained the car since. A large history file with all documentation awaits the new owner with spare keys and original sales brochure.

The underside still displays factory markings and PDI dabs soon lost on higher mileage cars. An extremely rare special edition Ford.

Further subtle appurtenances of a special edition model include the leather clad steering wheel and sports instrument cluster with black symbols and red pointers on white dials. Virtually showroom fresh, this preserved interior will certainly impress.

Produced to commemorate the success of the Ford Escort Mexico in the London to Mexico Rally the classic heritage was guaranteed but despite the sales literature claiming ‘history repeats itself after a quarter of a century’ and that ‘it’s got what it takes’, the reality was clever badge engineering. Something that Ford mastered as far back as the 1970’s with the L, GL and Ghia! The car remained local to the dealer until 2018 whereby two of the three former keepers were husband and wife, Mr and Mrs Richards. The car has covered just 9,798 miles from new and is in outstanding original condition. The history file consists of the Ford book pack and some previous invoices and MOT certificates including the supporting invoice for the service and cambelt change in October 2020. There are three Ford keys including the red master key and an original 1995 Ford Escort Mexico sales brochure. This fabulous 25-year-old survivor is sure to please anyone seeking an entry into classic Ford ownership with impressive bragging rights when you mention you own a Ford Escort Mexico!?

HISTORY FILE
Built on the Saarlouis production line in January 1977 and first registered on 1st March 1977 this example has remained in the same family for over two decades. The present owner, James Waterfall, purchased the vehicle from his brother in 2008 and embarked on a full restoration. His brother purchased this car along with a Mk2 Ford Escort Mexico in an era when values were negligible and scrapped the Mexico due to the work required! Hindsight proves this to be a mistake but fortunately the RS2000 was in much better condition so he kept it. Never finding the time to start working on it, his brother, an experienced fabricator and Stock Car Racer, took the car on with renewed motivation. The end result is a testament to his skill and workmanship. Photos exist of the work with some invoices but there is no early history. Ready for someone else to enjoy the benefits of years of hard work, dedication and expertise.

Ford Capri RS3100

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A genuine rare Ford Capri RS3100 extensively featured and RS Club registered.

MODEL HISTORY
Just 250 RS3100 Capris were made and at launch it claimed to be the ‘fastest Ford produced in Britain’. Ford needed the RS3100 to remain competitive in the European Touring Car Championship and compete against the BMW 3.0-litre CSL Batmobile. Ford Advanced Vehicle Operations (AVO) was given the go-ahead in September 1973 to build the cars at Halewood. Racing regulations required 1000 units to be made for homologation but the launch in November 1973 coincided with the oil crisis and a steep rise in fuel prices combined with a high showroom price of £2,193.31 and the imminent arrival of the Mk2 Capri all acting as further deterrents to sales. Despite falling short of the 1000 units, racing authorities granted Group 2 homologation and of the 250 units made 50 units were exported to Australia and 23 allocated to Ford Area Sales Managers. (Source: Factory Orginal Ford Capri Mk1 by James Taylor, The AVO Owners Club & The RS Owners Club).

EQUIPMENT
Steel integral construction, safety glass all-round, black front quarter bumpers, front airdam, duck tail rear spoiler, flared front wheel arches, twin halogen headlamps, gold triple body side stripe, gold decal scheme on bonnet power bulge and rear end panel, opening rear quarter windows, tachometer, fuel, oil pressure water and ammeter gauges, push button switches, two-speed heater switch, stalk headlamp flasher and horn, passenger grab handle, cigar lighter. Fitted accessories; Chrome bullet door mirrors, RS steering wheel, Kenwood KMM-BT35 with Bluetooth and rear speakers.

EXTERIOR
This iconic Ford Capri RS3100 is finished in striking Sebring Red, (Code N), which looks incredible at any angle. With a huge Ducktail rear spoiler, full width chin spoiler and flared front wings, seventies boy-racer machismo is found in abundance and is the envy of all other Capri owners. Superbly presented and thoroughly enjoyed by the current long-term owner since commissioning C.B. Restorations in 2011, this car now has minor insignificant signs of use and can still be showcased, driven and commended in absolutely all areas. Original RS3100 features are present to include the correct German specification rear bumper with two number plates lights retaining the bright metal casings, black painted boot lid to match the boot spoiler and all and decals. An RS boot badge in lieu of the GT item and gold decals on the filler cap are at the owners preference and all glass is number plate etched. The wheel arches are spotlessly clean and the underside structurally perfect. One of a handful of survivors to be used and enjoyed.

INTERIOR
The standard Black PVC, (Code AA), individually contoured reclining front bucket seats are incredibly still original fitment and present very well with just a few loose stiches. The Black headlining unique to the RS3100 Capri, door cards and padded dash top are in remarkable condition with very few imperfections. The original black carpeting has some minor wear along with the non-protruding push button switches for the lights and wipers. The Matt Black vinyl dash houses the comprehensive instrumentation with all the distinctive red needle gauges operational and the heater fan works on both speed settings. A modern Bluetooth stereo with parcel mounted rear speakers from a bygone era are fitted. Functional, simple and very pleasing.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
AVO decided to use the Essex V6 engine as a base for the car with an increased capacity from 3.0 litres to 3.1. Racing versions were increased to as much as 3412cc and when mated to a Cosworth 24v head were capable of a reliable 415bhp! In this guise a maximum output of 148bhp is quoted to achieve a top speed of 125mph and 0-60 in 7.6 seconds. Returned to standard specification by Specialist Engines Ltd in 2016 after modifications were carried out to the original engine by Rick Wood Racing Engines in 2000, the car performs faultlessly. The serial number of the engine matches that of the car. The standard Weber 38DGAS carburettor and blue rocker covers are the more obvious standard features. Less obvious is the original body plate with the unique words ‘SPA SPECIAL’ only found on the RS3100 and factory original chassis plate remaining attached to the front inner wings with reinforcing plates. A replacement non-standard exhaust system sounds incredible. The standard four-speed manual gearbox was rebuilt by Western Transmissions in 2016 and offers reassuring changes.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The four-spoke alloy wheels are the same as those used on the earlier Capri RS2600 with a 13-inch diameter and 6 inch wide rims, all in very good condition shod in branded tyres with ample tread. Importantly the wheels have Capri written in the back. The servo assisted brakes were also carried over from the RS2600 with ventilated front discs on special front hubs and 9 inch rear drums now uprated to a dual-line system for safety.

HISTORY FILE
Three box files of history await the next lucky custodian tracking everything from star-studded film appearances and documentaries such as The Bromley Boys and Car SOS with Tim Shaw and Fuzz Townshend to magazine features and buyers guides. Putting aside the glamour and glitz and importantly for a collector and enthusiast, this car is registered with the RS Owners Club and known by Len Peirce, the Capri RS Registrar. The car has the correct prefix BBECND and was manufactured at Halewood Great Britain in November 1973. It is documented in the RS Owners Club publication, Rallye News written by Len Peirce, that only 53 Sebring Red cars were sold in the UK when new and now fewer than 107 remain across all colour variants of which just 72 are complete. Enjoyed extensively by the current long-term custodian this car has attended various events such as SPA-Classic, Goodwood, Castle Combe and was an official display vehicle at the NEC Classic Motor Show. Photos, invoices and bundles of documentation will take hours to peruse but will all help to reassure the next owner this car is the real deal and definitely the car you always promised yourself.

Ford Sierra RS Cosworth

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

An astonishing Ford Sierra RS Cosworth with traceable history and 12,993 miles.

MODEL HISTORY
The Sierra RS Cosworth project was defined in the spring of 1983 by the then recently appointed head of Ford Motorsport in Europe. It was established that at the time, Ford was no longer competitive in this area. After receiving full support from Ford Public Relations, the project was underway with the Sierra chosen as the basis for the task ahead. Ford Motorsport in Europe approached the automotive company, Cosworth, who answered positively, but put up two conditions: The street version of the car had to produce no less than 204 HP, and Ford had to accept no less than 15,000 engines. The project would only need about 5,000 engines, but Ford nevertheless accepted the conditions. The extra 10,000 engines would later become one of the reasons Ford also chose to develop a four door, second generation Sierra RS Cosworth. Few cars have ever been greeted with such enthusiasm as the original Sierra RS Cosworth.

EQUIPMENT
Bodyside mouldings, integral front air dam, colour coded door mirrors, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, bonnet cooling vents, halogen headlamps, integral front driving lamps, colour coded polycarbonate bumpers with black insert, single plane rear wing spoiler, tinted glass all round, central locking, leather gearknob, leather three spoke sports steering wheel, cassette storage, electronic sound system (model ECU2) with power amplifier, tilt and slide sunroof, tachometer with turbo boost gauge, quartz digital clock, graphic warning module, electric windows. Dealer accessories; Red pinstripe.

EXTERIOR
The iconic styling of the Sierra RS Cosworth is instantly recognisable and a 1980’s legend. Finished in optional Ford Moonstone Blue, (Code K6), the factory paintwork is just perfect and displays the correct orange peel finish throughout. All panels are original with discreet date stampings and seam welds. A tiny rub to the rear bumper, minor chips at the rear of the side skirts are honest signs of minimal use. The glass is correctly dated Securit fitment with delamination to the front original Glacetex screen and all rubbers display fullness with no distortion. The underside to this low mileage car will be a benchmark for those seeking Ford factory correctness with all PDI coloured dabs, Motocraft stickers and alignment paint dashes visible. Ford main dealer Brundall Motor Company number plates remain fitted as supplied by them when the car was eight months old along with a red pinstripe. A truly sensational car commensurate with the incredible 12,993 miles and true to the original Ford SVE Department design.

INTERIOR
The interior of this RS Cosworth is truly outstanding and exactly as Ford intended. Finished in Ford Roma and Cashmere Grey Velour, (Code S2), the Recaro seats, door cards and headlining are spotless, there is no lifting of the material to the door handles or sagging of the headlining. The drivers seat retains the correct shape with only very light creasing to the driver’s seat base. The carpets are plump having been protected by tailored Cosworth velour mats. Remarkable is the fact that the dash has not one hairline crack, a problem suffered by most and the leather steering wheel and gear knob have visible veins. The standard ECU2 electronic sound system with power amplifier is fully operational and the LCD display to warn of bulb failure and open doors operates perfectly. The boot insulation panel designed to raise the boot floor to incorporate the larger spare wheel is present and in perfect condition. A classic and correct Ford RS interior and virtually impossible to fault.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fitted with the standard 1993cc Dual Over Head Cam (DOHC) engine with the Garrett AiResearch T3 turbocharger and intercooler, the racing pedigree of this car is truly evident with performance figures quoted of 204bhp, 149mph top speed and 0-60 in just 6.2 seconds. The engine bay will please originality seekers with thankfully no bracket, component, nut or bolt has been zinc plated to create an over-restored finish. Factory panel stampings on the inner wings, bonnet underside and slam panel are all visible. All stickers and plates remain intact and are not reproduction items. The tough T5 manual transmission is direct and precise and perfectly weighted.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The standard Rial 15 X 7J Sierra Cosworth alloy wheels and centre caps are pristine finished in Nimbus Grey with diamond cut facings. The Ford logo to the centre cap is still diamond cut having not been refurbished. Matching Dunlop Sport tyres in the correct size of 205/50 R15 have masses of tread remaining and the spare wheel is wrapped in the original Dunlop SP Sport D40 tyre with tread depth indicator, a feature deleted on the Sapphire Cosworth. Hydraulically boosted anti-lock brakes with 28.3cm ventilated discs up front and 27.3cm discs at the rear bring the car to a sure halt.

HISTORY FILE
Manufactured at the Ford Genk plant in December 1986 and supplied new on the 5th January 1987 by Ford RS Dealer, J.E Coulter Ltd, this example has covered a genuine and warranted 12,993 miles from new in the hands of just three owners. The first, Mr Carl Abbott for eight months before selling to Ford main dealer, Brundall Motor Company in Norwich. The dealer sold the car in November 1987 to Mr Allan Beesley with 6,172 miles. Mr Beesley paid £307.05 for the three year Ford Extra Cover and remained the second custodian for 31 years until June 2018. A serial Ford collector, Mr Beesly used the car sparingly joining amongst other cars a Lotus Cortina he owned from new and a Mk1 Escort Mexico. On the first MOT in January 1990 the car had covered 7,805 miles and had already been serviced by Brundall Motor Company seven times such was his fastidious nature! Realising the historical importance of the car it was treated to a full service by the Stratton Motor Company in May 1990 costing £490.73 and placed in storage with his other collectable cars. Correspondence between the Ford Motor Company in January 1994 on a Safety Recall regarding chafing of the wiring loom against the fuel inlet connector security clip, Mr Beesley writes, ‘the car is still owned by me and is currently laid up with only 8,000 miles’ and that he ‘will be unable to effect the safety recall’. Ford main dealer invoices during the cars storage reveals periodic starting and warming up and in 2005 the decision was made to fully recommission the car for light use whereby amongst other perishable items, the exhaust and original tyres were replaced.

In 2018 a five page Valuation Report by Dunn Shaw Insurance Assessors and Consulting Engineers on instruction of the third owner, Nigel Cope summarises; ‘To find another example this original and low mileage would be difficult if not impossible’ and ‘I would place a valuation of the vehicle of £67,500’. Mr Cope made contact with KGF Classic Cars to seek out the next appreciative custodian.

The Ford blue leather wallet contains all handbooks, guides and dealership literature, and the original stamped service book. All keys are present including a working torch key! It really does not get much better than this.
