BMW E9 3.0 CSL

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

The ultimate expression of superiority, a genuine RHD BMW E9 3.0 CSL.

MODEL HISTORY
The 3.0 CSL is a lightweight, performance-oriented version of the standard 3.0 CS/3.0 CSi coupe. CSL denotes Coupe Sport Lightweight. It was originally developed as a homologation model for the German Touring Car Championship by a separate division within BMW AG, a division that would later become BMW Motorsport GmbH. It is therefore generally considered to be the first M Series model. All were assembled at the Karmann Werkes in Rheine, Germany and just 500 RHD genuine 3.0 CSL models were produced. Chassis number 2285430 is number 430

EQUIPMENT
UK City Pack, accent stripes, wing extensions, light-weight construction, aluminium doors, bonnet and boot lid, trip mileage recorder, revolution counter, hazard warning flashers, rear fog warning light, electric windows, heated rear window, map reading light, cigar lighter, door map pockets, ashtray, lockable glovebox, boot mounted tool kit, power steering.

EXTERIOR
Unmistakable at any angle this very rare homologation special reflects the enthusiasm of BMW engineers not limited by economic restrictions of volume production. Finished in striking Fjord Blue metallic, (colour code 037), this example is very bright with a gloss texture. Importantly the aluminium bonnet, boot lid and door skins all remain fitted and a detailed pre-purchase inspection by Munich Legends in 2011 reveals the general good state of the car prior to a sympathetic restoration. The accent stripes and badging are in lovely condition. The chrome CSi front and rear bumpers as fitted to RHD vehicles and standard chrome wing extensions are in exceptional order. The kidney grille and surrounding trim is marked and some of the side glass rubbers have aged. The underside has waxoyl as per the City Pack cars. A race-proven special car.

INTERIOR
The functional interior of this cockpit will encourage the enthusiastic driver with the roof, interior trim panels finished in standard black. Deep bucket Scheel sports seats offer unrivalled comfort and perfect support and the Momo three spoke leather steering wheel provides grip. Most of the wood trim has been refurbished but areas show aging and the Karmann door pillar badge remains fixed. An uncompromising sports drivers car.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

Finished in Titanium Silver metallic, (Code 354), the paintwork is simply magnificent with a brilliant polished shine and uniform finish throughout.  Light scratches to the underside lip of the front bumper are visible upon close scrutiny and surprisingly only very minimal stone chips are present to the front.  All trim sections and discreet BMW M badging are in impeccable condition and BMW dealer number plates are fitted.  The optional blue hood is in excellent condition as is the expensive colour coded hard top with one tiny mark.  The rear lamps have been upgraded to the newer style LED units.  This beautifully presented and unmolested example proudly showcases its low owner, low mileage cherished credentials.  An absolute delight for any BMW M enthusiast.

INTERIOR
Soft luxurious Nappa leather in vibrant Cinnamon, (Code N52M), compliments the exterior colour scheme perfectly.  Very supportive MSport seats and the driver inclined cockpit hint towards the race breed pedigree of this awesome machine.  The beautifully clean upholstery portrays all the hallmarks a fastidious ownership and devoted upkeep with only tiny hairline creases to the driver’s seat bolster and light indentations to the rear seat, barely worthy of mention.  The spotlessly clean carpets are preserved having been protected by carpet mats from new.  Faint scratches around the handbrake area and a small mark to the one door speaker are barely worthy of a mention.  The chunky M leather multi-function steering wheel displays the blue and red stitching clearly.  Even the GSM mobile phone supplied as an optional extra remains with the car but has currently been replaced with a genuine BMW cup holder.  Completely original and far superior to the usual offerings, this M3 has been beautifully preserved.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
A ferocious and true performance legend.  Designed solely with pure driving exhilaration in mind, to experience the E46 M3 is an unforgettable drive and truly addictive.  The 6 cylinder in-line powerplant is nothing short of a genius in engineering and under bonnet splendour is guaranteed as the area is spotlessly clean, exactly as it left the production line.  All correct stickers and identification plates remain fixed.  An electronically limited top speed of 155mph and 0-62 time of just 5.5 seconds is quoted.  The factory optional SMG Drivelogic system offers a hugely diverse range of settings to suit the driver’s mood delivering everything from the fully automatic relaxed to the phenomenally quick manual gearchanges.  In maximum Race mode, rocker switches on the steering wheel allow shifting in less than 80 milliseconds with power flow interrupted for less than 150 milliseconds.  True supercar credentials.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Factory optional expensive 19in BMW M Light alloy wheels in double-spoke styling 67 are forged and immaculate.  Continental Contisport Contact tyres measuring 225/40 ZR19 and 255/35 ZR19 front and rear respectively have excellent tread remaining and are the correct type made specifically for the car with the M3 logo on the side.  The high performance braking system featuring compound discs brakes safely masters the staggering power and is everything you would expect of this ultimate driving machine.
