SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

An iconic Ford Fiesta Mk1 XR2 with just 32,592 miles and huge history file.

EQUIPMENT
Louvred design radiator grille with aerofoil section, aerodynamic front and rear black spoilers, driving lamps, black wheelarch extensions, twin body coloured doors mirrors, special XR2 bodyside decal treatments, extended black window surround paint, tailgate wash/wipe, heated rear window, tachometer, trip recorder, soft feel special steering wheel, digital header mounted clock.  Factory options; Tilting/removable glass sunroof with storage bag, Ford RST21P stereo cassette, fuel tank locking cap.

EXTERIOR
A rare colour for the XR2, the Diamond White, (Code B3), paintwork is remarkably well preserved with only light markings visible, including touched in scratches to the front offside wing and boot lock.  Original decals are still fitted and all panels are factory correct including the front wings which display clear date stampings and seam welds.  All glass is security etched and the lights and lens covers are factory fitment with the Ford logo.  The supplying Ford main dealer number plates, rear screen sticker and tax disc holder remain fitted.  An iconic sporting Ford, truly special.

INTERIOR
The interior in this fabulous example remains in beautiful untouched condition, even down to the working Ford RST21P stereo cassette and original Ford rubber floor mats.  The ‘Storm’ and Crushed Velour interior in Shark Grey, (Code KW), is clean, fully intact and shows only light furring to the driver’s seat bolster and slight stretched fabric.  The door cards and Grey Mylar sidewall and rear quarter finishers are superb, and the cool-black perforated headlining is tight with just one small hole.  The red laser line around the instrument binnacle is vibrant and the soft finish dashboard is perfect.  The unworn steering wheel and gear knob have prominent veins.  All switchgear is functional and the original trimmed parcel shelf is pin-straight and complete with the correct rubber hangers.  The vinyl sunroof bag has been kept, an irreplaceable and exceptionally rare item.  A delightfully period unspoilt interior, reminiscent of the 1980’s hot hatch phenomenon.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The time proven transverse mounted 1600 OHV engine with a Weber twin-venturi carburettor develops an ample 84BHP, which in such a lightweight and nimble car achieves a top speed of 105mph and 0-60 in just 9.3 seconds.  The clean engine bay will delight the blue oval aficionado insistent on originality with features such as the factory plates and build tag never painted over as well as the delicate factory and 1.6 sticker fully intact on the air cleaner.  There are even PDI markings still visible!  The four-speed synchromesh gearbox with remote shift is light and exact.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Special ‘pepperpot’ 13” X 6” alloy wheels are in excellent order and display prominent Ford emblems and raised part number markings.  Matching branded 185/60 R13 have masses of tread.  The spare alloy wheel still wrapped in the original Pirelli Cinturato P6 rubber sits in the boot wheel housing alongside the Ford jack which incorporates the correct ‘bulged’ rear lower valance designed to accommodate the enlarged alloy wheel compared with lower Fiesta models.  The dual line servo assisted brakes with ventilated 9.4” front discs and 7.0” rear drums bring the car up to a steady, straight and assured halt.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on 19th November 1982 by Ford Main Dealer, Harold Perry Limited, of Essex, this exceptionally special example has covered just 32,592 miles with two owners from new.  Both blue and red V5 documents list one former keeper, the first being Mr John Abbs who owned the car until 2008 when it was purchased by Mr Paul Stokes.  The huge and complete history file includes the PDI checklist and a total of 20 service records to fully verify the mileage, along with all MOT certificates carried out since 1987.  The original Ford document wallet holds all handbooks, operating guides and point of sale literature as well as the service book.  Two main Ford keys operate the ignition and all locks and both original petrol cap keys, and code tag are present.  A rare opportunity to acquire a genuine, unspoilt Mk1 XR2, with collector quality credentials and history.
