A superb BMW E21 320 with just two owners and 68,142 miles from new.

EQUIPMENT
Torsionally rigid safety cell, pre-determined deformation zones, door locks with anti-burst strikers, cantilevered bonnet, sunroof, deep front air-dam, chrome bumpers with rubber insert, rubber side rubbing strips, black synthetic rear spoiler, model designation in front grille, laminated windscreen, brown tinted heat insulating glass, dual halogen headlamps, electrically adjustable door mirrors, anti-dazzle mirrors, twin tone horn, digital clock, rev counter, trip recorder, infinitely adjustable orange panel illumination, foam padded four spoke steering wheel, toolkit.  Factory options; Automatic gearbox, light alloy wheels.  Dealer options; Mud flaps, BMW sunroof deflector.

EXTERIOR
The unmistakable classic lines of the BMW E21 are typical of 1970’s and 1980’s BMW’s, particularly the brawny styling of the shark nose front end.    This excellent example is finished in ever popular BMW Henna Red (Hennarot – Code 052).  There is a bright shine to the paintwork and all panels are original, straight and free from damage.  Whilst very presentable, minor age related markings and evidence of remedial cosmetic paintwork is visible upon close inspection, most notable being a small repair to the bonnet edge.  The extensive original chrome brightwork has a glorious mirror finish and the trim sections are in outstanding condition.  All glass is the factory BMW Sekurit fitment with number plate etching.  Delicate items such as the twin headlamp wipers and genuine BMW sunroof deflector and mud flaps are perfectly preserved.  Having been cossetted by the first owner until 2016, this garage kept example is unmolested and ready for enjoyment.

INTERIOR
The semi-circle arrangement driver orientated cockpit in this BMW E21 320 offers a delightful throwback to 1980’s interior design, wonderfully reminiscent!  The factory original Anthracite cloth interior is in excellent order with only light fading evident to the more exposed sections of seating and carpet.  The seats remain comfortable, and the door cards and headlining are beautifully preserved.  The dashboard and associated switchgear is perfect with all functions, controls and gauges fully operational, a testament to BMW build quality.  This low mileage and cherished example proudly displays a wonderfully retro BMW interior, very stylish!

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The legendary and time proven BMW six cylinder inline engine is effortless and smooth, and the instantly familiar engine note is a delight.  Displacing 1990cc, the power output of 122bhp and 160Nm of torque propels to car through 0-62 in just 13.0 seconds and reaches a top speed of 109mph.  A clean and unmolested engine bay displays factory stickers, plates and panel stampings, and the inner wing chassis stamp has not been painted over, just as it was upon leaving the BMW factory.   The factory optional automatic transmission operates perfectly and offers a more relaxed cruising manner.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The rare and much sought after light alloy BMW cross-spoke wheels are in good condition with only minor markings and some discolouration to the centre cap badges.  These classic BMW wheels are shod in matching brand 185/70 R13 tyres with masses of tread remaining.  The twin-circuit braking offers advancements such as automatic brake pad wear compensation.  The brakes feel completely assured in all manner of driving.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on 22nd March 1982 by BMW Main Dealers New Hatherley Garage of Sidcup, the first owner was a Mr Charles Gibbons.  Incredibly, Mr Gibbons kept the car until 2016 before selling to a close friend and collector, Mr Paul Bevis, who had wanted to buy the car for many years!   The original blue V5 document has been kept along with the dealership supplied BMW Owners Information Pack containing the stamped service book, handbooks and absolutely all point of sale literature.  Furthermore, a huge folder of service invoices date back to 1983, many of which are BMW Main Dealer, and leave in no doubt that this is a very well cared for example.  A documented cambelt change was carried out in 2014 with less than 400 miles covered since.  The folder also contains spare keys and many previous MOT certificates to fully verify the mileage of 68,142 miles.  The driving experience is exactly what you would expect from a low owner, low mileage and well maintained machine, truly brilliant!

A delightful 1980’s throwback and an instant hit with the City Trader ‘Yuppy’ set.  Red braces optional!
