A pristine UK Yamaha RD400F in showroom display condition.

EQUIPMENT
Chrome mudguards front and rear, chrome side repeaters, circular orange side reflectors, speedometer, tachometer, ignition switch, turn signal switch, headlight switch, dimmer switch, engine kill switch, neutral indicator, oil light, high beam light, horn, rear footrests, fuel valve, helmet holder, lockable fuel cap.

EXTERIOR
Finished in white with the famous red Yamaha speed block motif the appearance of this thoroughbred can only be described as immaculate. The attention to detail is outstanding with every nut and bolt removed, refurbished or replaced and meticulously put back. The chrome has a mirror finish and all decals are unmarked along with the perfect black seat. All switches, lights and controls work perfectly and the shock mounted instrumentation is back-lit at night with a soft, green glow for maximum visibility. The high-tensile steel tubular double-cradle frame has been professionally powder coated with rider and pillion foot rubbers having been replaced. The KYB endurance type front forks are unmarked and the adjustable rear shocks will suit all riders. A correct Yamaha tool kit housed in the plastic wallet under the seat is present and the rare exhaust downpipes have been re-chromed with one tiny ding barely visible. A beautiful piece of Yamaha history.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 2-stroke torque induction engine has a 398cc displacement and produces 44bhp at 7500rpm. Featuring many advanced features at the time such as Yamahas Autolube system varying the delivery of oil linked to the throttle and precise ignition timing by utilising transistorised capacitor discharge ignition CDI. The engine and crank have been completely rebuilt with Yamaha seals and bearings. The 6-speed constant mesh transmission has perfectly selected ratios and a multi-plate clutch running in oil for featherlight changes. (Please note if the motorcycle is to be put to use a running-in period of 500 miles is recommended before full throttle and entry into the power band).

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The RD400F is fitted with stylish cast-alloy wheels with red detailing and having been powder coated are presented in fabulous undamaged condition. Dunlop K82 3.00-18 front and 3.50-18 rear tyres are as new. Hydraulic 267mm disc brakes front and rear with single piston calipers stop effectively and safely.

HISTORY FILE
Owned by a Yamaha connoisseur of the highest standing, this motorcycle reflects a no expense spared mentality to the build. A new owner will be utterly amazed with the precise attention to detail with empty NOS boxes having been kept along with invoices for all the parts used. A spreadsheet breaking down the source, the price and quantity of every part purchased amounts to £6,749 alone even before accounting for the labour time! All stages of the meticulous build have been photographed and are included on a memory stick for safekeeping. Forming part of a jaw dropping Yamaha collection including iconic bikes such as the RD125LC, RD500LC and an RD350LC, rarely does such an offering come to market. Fortunately, (and should the new owner wish), this motorbike is fully functional and not just a display spectacle.
