A Limited-Edition Vauxhall Chevette Silhouette with an amazing 11,967 miles!

EQUIPMENT
Flush fitting headlamps, underbody protection, sound insulation, distinctive strobe body stripes, twin rear fog lamps, matt black bumpers, chrome drip rail moulding, twin door mirrors, heated rear window, laminated windscreen, folding/reclining front seats, front head restraints, soft-feel steering wheel, electric screen wash, parcel shelf, Philips AN192 radio, courtesy lighting, cargo cover.

EXTERIOR
This original Limited-Edition Vauxhall Chevette Silhouette is the ultimate rare survivor having covered an incredibly low 11,967 miles from new.  Finished in factory Vauxhall Black, (Code 9BP), the paintwork boasts an unmolested uniform finish and deep shine.  All panels are factory fitment with linear gaps, perfect fit and no signs of repair work even being undertaken.  Minor paintwork blemishes and age-related markings along with a tiny boot lid ding are entirely forgiven.  The underside is untouched with factory stickers on the shock absorbers, PDI markings and there is even the date stamp behind the rear bumper!  The unique red strobe body stripes and Silhouette decals are original and undamaged and all other trim sections are near perfect.  Originality seekers will be further delighted to see supplying dealer number plates, window stickers, GM light clusters and even a disabled badge from 1987!  Almost certainly the best surviving example in existence and a once in a lifetime find.

INTERIOR
A wonderfully period and time warp interior.  Silhouette edition cars were based on higher specification ES models with this example featuring the Luxury Dapple velour cloth upholstery in Red, (Code 701).  The often loosely used term ‘pristine’ is entirely justified with this cabin space with everything in near showroom condition.  Remaining exactly as Vauxhall intended, all equipment, functions and controls are perfect in operation and condition, even the Griffin badged aerial puller is present!  Defined natural veins to the steering wheel, gear knob and switchgear are only found on such low mileage examples.  Transport yourself to a 1982 Vauxhall dealership with this truly delightful and retro Chevette Silhouette.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 1256cc OHV four-cylinder engine with 1 Ze-St carburettor produces 57bhp at 5600rpm and 89Nm torque at 2600rpm.  The engine bay is wonderfully clean, unmolested and displays factory plates and stickers as well as factory panel stampings to the inner wings and even PDI dabs, long lost on most examples!  The crisp engine sings into life effortlessly and the driving experience is delightfully retro!  The four speed all synchromesh gearbox feels effortless yet sturdy and the clutch action is smooth and light, a real joy to use.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The original steel wheels are in immaculate condition and all factory fitted centre caps and wheel nut caps are present.  Brand new matching Goodyear Efficient Grip 155/70 R13 tyres are fitted and the spare wheel still wears the factory Continental rubber!  The spare wheel is housed in the pristine boot area which also has the original date stamps to the boot floor and even the jack!  Dual circuit brakes with servo assistance feature 9.4in front discs and 7.9in rear drums to offer ample stopping capability.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new by Vauxhall Main Dealers, F. C. Green Ltd of Hertford, on the 3rd August 1982, this one-off example has covered just 11,967 miles with one owner from new until 2019!  Mr Robert Johnston purchased the car new and his details are entered as the first owner in the original service booklet and on the old style blue V5 registration document.  The wonderful history file is a look back in time to a bygone era of motoring with items such as now obsolete period road maps in the plastic covers and a leather driving licence wallet for Mr Johnston.  There is even an unopened set of Champion spark plugs with price sticker from Halfords for £2.89!  Upon Mr Johnston’s passing, his wife could not bear to part with the car and it remained exactly where it was always kept, in the garage.  The family contacted a local garage to ask them to recover the car and recommission it with the view to the second owner being found.  KGF Classic Cars were contacted and were privileged to be entrusted with this task whereby the car was sold to an existing customer and classic car collector.  Having just purchased a further two cars from us, a Ford Fiesta RS Turbo and a Ford Fiesta ST150, our customer offered the Chevette back to make room and we could not resist!

The original plastic wallet holds all handbooks, radio guides and dealership literature and there is a collection of previous MOT certificates and invoices.  There are two sets of original Vauxhall keys with dealer fob and a limited edition Chevette Silhouette sales brochure to complete the history file.  This amazing survivor has all the key credentials of a very special car, limited numbers, low mileage, two owners and original.  A true part of Vauxhalls heritage.
