SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A rare Special Edition Ford P100 Californian Pick up with an incredible 8,042 miles

EQUIPMENT
Polycarbonate front bumpers and bodyside mouldings with Cobra Red inserts, cab protector frame with work lights, front light guard and nudge bar, remote door mirrors, high security fuel filler cap, halogen headlamps, tinted glass, laminated windscreen, double skinned load box with ribbed floor, moulded nylon lashing points, 180 degree tailgate with 90 degree hold check straps, load mat in thick close fitting rubber, tonneau cover with Ford emblem, cigar lighter, analogue clock, coin stowage tray, electronic Ford Keycode 2015 stereo/cassette, rear mudflaps. Dealer options; front mudflaps.

EXTERIOR
This formidable Ford P100 Pick Up has been absolutely preserved in an incredible unspoilt condition owing to the amazingly low miles covered. The inherent hard working life these vehicles were subjected to means very few survive and virtually none in this prime condition. Finished in factory original Cardinal Red (code P), the uniform paint finish has a glossy shine guaranteed to amaze onlookers. The unique side and rear decal scheme and ‘Californian’ decal on the ‘B’ pillar remain as does the Ford dealer rear window sticker and number plate. The front nudge bar is perfectly straight but the ‘Truckman’ red lettering is slightly peeled. An incredibly clean and damage free load bed is protected by an unmarked rubber load mat and the knowledgeable will spot the unique tonneau cover styled to suit the cab protector frame with the Ford emblem. The support bows are correctly shaped. Correctly date stamped front wings and slam panel are visible and the underside factory colour coded. A real museum piece and much revered classic Ford.

INTERIOR
Based on the instantly recognisable Sierra, this cabin space could, to the untrained eye, be mistaken for Ford’s ever popular range of family cars. However, subtle suggestions towards the robust commercial vehicle range are in the form of wipe clean vinyl door cards and sparse equipment levels to include a coin box in place of the digital clock and an analogue clock instead of the tachometer. This Special Edition model featured comforts such as Chequers cloth trim (code 2P), grey velour carpeting and a Ford Keycode 2015 radio cassette. The upholstery is pristine with no wear at all and the carpets, roof lining and switchgear are clean. The dashboard has no cracks and the vinyl door cards have suffered slight shrinking. A few tiny holes remain from the optional Ford Cellular phone and CB system. A truly spectacular time warp interior.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fitted with the 1.8 turbo diesel version developing 74bhp at 4500rpm this vehicle is best described as a workhorse! The engine bay is remarkable with Ford labels still attached to cables, original identification plates and stickers and even factory wax! A full service and cam-belt change has been carried out by renown specialists Harvey Gibbs at Supreme Car Services. The 5-speed gearbox is light and easy to use and the clutch is positive.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The original 14 X 5½J steel wheels are immaculate and still have the small black Ford centre caps and wheel nut covers fitted. Ford factory weights remain on the wheels and the Firestone CV2000 185 R14C tyres have masses of tread remaining. As the tyres have been on the car from new it is advised if regular use is intended to remove, keep and replace with a new set. Diagonally split dual-line servo assisted brakes feature a load apportioning valve along with 9.5” ventilated front discs and 10” rear drums to bring the vehicle up safely.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on 24th November 1993 by Main Dealers, Premier Ford in Newport Isle of Wight, this fabulous example would have been one of the very last to roll off the production line. Purchased by a Mr Derek Hatcher as a retirement gift but with clearly little use it has covered a mere 8,042 miles from new. Inspection will simply amaze and the claim of cossetted ownership is clearly upheld amongst the three former keepers. The history file contains the dealer supplied plastic A5 wallet with the original P100 handbook, operating guides, point of sale literature and even the first 1500 mile service voucher! A collection of MOT certificates completes the history file. One for the Ford collector who has almost everything!
