SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A truly exceptional and original Ford Fiesta RS Turbo with only 24,039 miles.

EQUIPMENT
Body coloured bumpers with green insert, bonnet louvres, long range driving lights, front fog lights, front air dam, front arch liners, rear spoiler, sunroof, aircraft-style pockets, micro-switches, anti-burst locks, central door locking, remote tailgate release, remote control door mirrors, tinted glass, tailgate wash/wipe, digital clock, electric windows, Ford Keycode stereo, courtesy light, load compartment light.

EXTERIOR
Finished in gleaming Ford Radiant Red, (Code P1), this amazing example still retains its factory paint coat with an amazing deep gloss shine created from years of enthusiast ownership and careful storage. All the trim, rubbers and glass are as new and reflect the incredible low mileage, virtually impossible to replicate even with replacement. The glass is chassis etched. The factory decals and correct green insert remain in pristine condition and even the supplying Ford Main dealer number plates are included but reproduction ones are currently fitted. The underside is totally original having not been detailed and the factory applied coating is dry. A small section of paint lift around the inner boot lock mechanism is evident and left untreated in order to uphold originality. Suitable for the most discerning and fastidious collector or blue oval fan seeking a totally unmolested and very rare Fiesta RS Turbo.

INTERIOR
Once behind the leather trimmed sports steering wheel and tightly secured in the supportive Recaro seats, the privileged occupants will appreciate the absolute time warp feel of this very special car. The seat trim in Ascot Raven (code LA) retains all fullness and the driver/passenger seats have been swapped. The black instrument binnacle, door cards and headlining are factory perfect. The carpeting has been protected by four tailored Ford carpet mats from new and even the boot carpet is date stamped. The unique grey leather gear knob shows a few markings. All the instruments, micro-switches and driver controls function correctly, as does the Ford Keycode radio cassette. An interior virtually synonymous to a showroom example at a Ford RS Outlet in 1991!

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 1.6 OHC fuel injected engine with Garrett AiResearch T2 turbo charger and intercooler produces 131bhp and 183Nm of torque. Figures quoted at 7.7 seconds to 60mph and a top speed of 127mph make this a true ‘hot hatch’. The engine bay is simply incredible with all the Ford labels, stickers and Ford stamps on the hoses. The often misplaced plastic battery cover remains fitted and the blue strut top factory markings are clearly visible. Even the dealership breakdown sticker remains attached to the bonnet underside! The 5-speed transmission works seamlessly with a progressive clutch action and short shift.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Unique and highly distinctive three-spoke alloy wheels display only a few tiny markings only detectable upon close scrutiny. Five correct Pirelli 185/55 R14 tyres are fitted with good tread levels, although renewal prior to regular use would be prudent due to the age of the rubber. The servo-assisted diagonally split brakes with 241mm ventilated discs up front and 203mm drums at rear bring to car up in a safe and steady manner.

HISTORY FILE
This rare example of Ford’s first RS Fiesta was supplied by Ford Main Dealers Tate Ford Manchester Ltd on the 25th April 1991 to a Mr J Tomlinson. A substantial history file contains Ford Main dealer service invoices and previous MOT certificates, which along with the original stamped service booklet, support the amazingly low 24,039 miles covered. A major service and cambelt change was carried out at Ford Main Agent Paynes of Hinckley in August 2015 at 23,868 miles with supporting invoice and service stamp. All six former keepers have been enthusiasts and include prominent club members such as the Dorset RSOC Chairman, Mr Green.

The original Ford document wallet also contains all handbooks, guides and dealership literature, and the fastidious buyer will appreciate being made aware that the leather to the grey wallet has deteriorated. Three keys with the plastic keycode tags are present.

With a short production of just two years from 1990 to 1992, prior to the introduction of the Fiesta RS1800, this represents a truly rare RS Ford with this example undoubtedly one of the best, unmolested examples in existence.
