SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A nostalgic Norton Atlas 750 with just two former keepers from new

EQUIPMENT
Slimline Featherbed frame, adjustable Girling shock absorbers, Zener diode headlamp with ammeter, single chrome mirror, speedometer, tachometer, horn, headlight switch, engine kill button, rear footrests, fuel valve, combined rear and stop light.  Factory options; Silver petrol tank, chrome plated mudguards, rear luggage rack.

EXTERIOR
This iconic British motorbike is finished in jet Black primary and optional silver and displays all the hallmarks of an original pampered Norton Twin.  This is a matching numbers example.  The rubber mounted speedometer, tachometer and ammeter have an elegant appearance and still display the Made in England markings.  The chrome enhancements are virtually pristine with no flake or pitting and even the chrome oil cap still reads ‘use Castrol lubricating oil’.  Often incorrectly replaced the seat on this example retains the correct white piping and the petrol tank badges are in fine condition.  The Roadholder forks show minor marks along with tiny paint chips commensurate with a bike that is used socially for enjoyment.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The original factory supplied 745cc o.h.v vertical twin with an alloy cylinder head performs wonderfully enabling a claimed top speed of 110mph.  Enthusiast care and knowledge is revealed not only in the general cleanliness of the engine area but also with the ease of starting and instant steady idle.  Twin Concentric Amal carburettors are fitted as per post 68 models to eliminate fuel surge problems.  The bright chrome twin exhaust sounds glorious.  The A.M.C positive footchange four-speed gearbox has medium-close ratios with a heavy duty five plate clutch and rubber vane shock absorbers.  Changes are reassuringly positive.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Clean chrome plated steel rims are shod in Avon tyres, 3.25-19 upfront and 100/90 -18 at the rear with ample tread.  Internally expanding drum brakes within deeply finned light alloy hubs provide fair braking power.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new to a Mr Frederick William King on the 3rd September 1964 who remained the keeper for 38 years.  Only two further enthusiasts have cared for this classic motorbike.  A matching frame, engine and registration number will please purists and this example still has the original RF60 old style green buff log book!  The current custodian is a passionate Norton collector who is willing to share his knowledge with any would be new owner.
