A marvellous Morris Mini 850 Light Van known by every owner from new.

Two rear wide opening doors with safety glass windows and automatic check rods, sliding side windows, extraction ventilator in roof, curved safety glass windscreen, twin door mirrors, double dipping headlamps with prefocused bulbs, foot dipping switch, washable headlining to cab, large door pockets, full width facia shelf, interior roof light, electric horn, sun visor, recirculatory heater, wiper switch, mixture control.  Factory option: Passenger seat.

This beautiful Morris Mini Van is finished in original and very rare Damask Red and boasts a brilliant deep shine.  This example is structurally perfect having been subject to a restoration but the door shuts protrude slightly.  The chrome work to the bumpers are in excellent order and the original metal grill and Morris bonnet badge have only light pitting.  The glass, rubbers and lenses are all intact and present very well.  The engine bay is clean and suitable for bonnet up display.  The roof ventilator soon deleted on later Mini Vans is operational.  Evidence of non-factory welding can be seen.  A wonderful example, perfect for classic car shows or promotional advertising.

The standard and original Tan upholstery seats have survived well but have has come unstitched at the base back.  Replacement door cards and facia trim is immaculate but not an identical shade to the seats.  The Bakerlite steering wheel with Morris badge is completely intact and free from damage.  The small instrument speedometer and interior lights and switches all function correctly. An iconic motoring delight in every respect.

The water cooled, overhead-valve four-cylinder engine mounted transversely has a cubic capacity of 848cc and produces 34bhp.  The engine starts instantly at the flick of the key and is whisper quiet.  The vehicle has not been converted to run on unleaded.  The engine bay is a delight with original plates and badges remaining.   The 4-speed gearbox with synchromesh on 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears operates well.  Thoroughly useable and ready for reliable classic motoring enjoyment!

Ventilated disc-type wheels with 4-stud fixing are immaculate and shod in new Falken 145 SR10 tyres.  The spare wheel stowed in a special compartment between the vehicle floor and load space floor still has the factory Dunlop tyre!  Braking to all four wheels is hydraulically operated by a pendant pedal with two leading shoes at the front, basic but effective.

A delightful history with this car awaits a new owner.  Registered new on 13th August 1969 to two Burghley House Estate workers.  The sisters who purchased this van were the Estate   managers and used the vehicle to collect house laundry daily, return it to the outhouse and delivery it back when clean and pressed.  These short light loads continued for many years and the vehicle became a regular sight in the Stamford town as the two sisters tended to travel everywhere together.  The following three owners are all Stamford residents and all recall seeing the car on its daily business!  The previous owner, Mr Roberts, embarked on a detailed restoration during his eighteen years of ownership and has enjoyed attending local classic cars shows.  Interested onlookers enjoy listening to his fond memories of seeing the sisters on their busy daily business!
