The ultimate Mk2 Ford Escort RS2000 X Series with inner explosive beauty.

‘Zakspeed’ wing extensions with front spoiler, polyurethane front end incorporating four Cibie quartz halogen headlamps, rear spoiler, tinted glass, hazard warning flashers, heated rear window, centre console, glove box, facia mounted clock and glove pocket, cut pile carpet, separate fuel, water temperature and oil pressure gauges. Build Specification Overview: Jondell n/a Cosworth Racing Engine, six link Atlas semi-floating axle, Quaife half-shafts,  BGH Geartech type 9 ford 5 speed gearbox, AP Racing calipers, Bilstein suspension, World-Cup cross member, Ralloy Engineering fuel tank and battery mount, Facet electric fuel pump, fuel cut-off switch.

The exterior of this genuine RS2000 X Series is impeccable in every respect.  Finished in Diamond White it has a deep, gloss shine which is amazing and an absolute pleasure to polish and admire.  The ‘droop-snoot’ incorporating the chin spoiler and ‘Zakspeed’ wing extensions are immaculate and give the car a purposeful squat stance.  Absolutely no expense has been spared with the shell being soda blasted and rebuilt by renowned industry experts, SKN Rally Services.  Underbody detailing has created a virtually spotless visual delight and astute observers will quickly acknowledge the expensive quality components used to create this masterpiece.  The unmarked RS decals work perfectly and naturally draw admirers who will never believe the exterior is the tame ingredient of this desirable example.

The interior of this RS2000 is outstanding.  The twin reclining Recaro roll-top front seats are finished in Black Beta Plus Fabric Trim unique to this model and are supportive with no damage.  All the headlining is tight and clean along with the door cards and carpeting.  All the gauges give perfect healthy readings although the revolution counter and speedometer can soon become redundant should the owner utilise the full performance!  The fuel gauge is via the boot mounted glass level designed by Ralloy Engineering.  The two speed heater fan works on both settings but the fascia mounted clock does not operate.  This car really is a beautiful, unspoilt place to be, exactly how Ford intended and again reveals nothing of the inner explosive beauty.

A Jondell built naturally aspirated Cosworth YB engine maybe enjoyed by the privileged few but at a cost into five digits many will opt for much cheaper alternatives.  Each engine having a unique build number assigned by Peter Jones himself famed for reliable race engines with huge performance.  This engine was built specifically for this car and runs twin 45 Weber DCOE carbs to produce 235bhp and 205lbs or torque. Engine detailing is impeccable with bonnet up crowd pleasing attention guaranteed.  The BGH Geartech Type-9 ford 5-speed sporting gearbox with third generation helical gears for quiet efficient performance can handle the power.

Genuine and highly sought after RS 7.5 X 13 alloy wheels finished in Stratos Silver with polished rims are shod in quality Yokohama A-509 tyres with a 205/60 R15 profile. A no expense spared mentality is demonstrated with the awesome braking system too.  AP Racing callipers front and rear can grip with force onto 276 X 26 vented, drilled and grooved discs.   A bias pedal box with a discreet interior aluminium control is installed along with a hydraulic handbrake.

This vehicle is registered with the Ford RS Owners Club and has come from a stable once housing some of the most desirable Mk2 Escorts including one of only two known surviving Ex-Ford Motor Company Series X Sport Saloons, KHJ184, and a prized RS1800.  Owned by the creator for six  years his mission was to source a genuine Ford Dealer built X Series, (itself a near impossible task), and produce a road going performance missile with reliability, drivability and safety for real world use.  This aim had to be achieved with no visual differences to a standard car. The result is truly unique and very special car and presents an amazing opportunity for a motoring enthusiast.  Awards for the vehicle are numerous and include Knockhill, Stirling Ford Day and Ford Fair Northern Ireland.  Photos of the build have been taken and the Mk2 Escort RS2000 Registrar valuation certificate is included in the history file at £40,000.  Sold by KGF Classic Cars in June 2014 to Tom Blackwood, (a passionate fast ford collector), we are privileged to have the car again for a lucky new custodian to enjoy.
